hi bunty, i didnt have ivf however my baby stopped developing at 5+4. wasnt discovered until 9 weeks. i then waited 2 weeks for a rescan to confirm and was told to expect to miscarry in that time. i didnt. rescan confirmed the news then i was advised to go natural. i waited another 2 weeks and nothing happened (so was 13 weeks by this point). i contacted the hospital and was prescribed medical management at home.
this failed although it wasnt completely obvious it had failed and upon a telephone conversation with the hospital they reassured me it was ok.
two days later i started getting contractions then loosing a lot of blood which went on for three hours. i didnt panic as i just assumed my body was finally doing the process naturally. i had read too much on the internet and properly put myself in danger.
as i assumed it had happened naturally i returned to work 2 days later, the same thing happened at work at which point i had to go straight to hospital and was admitted. fortunately (or not after several internals and manual attempts at removal) i was discharged just beforw midnight that night. i thought again it was finally all over.
the process began again on the saturday where i was admitted to hospital again and this time i wasnt allowed home until i had undergone an emergency erpc and was finally discharged on monday when it was thankfully finally over that time.
my story is quite unusual, not many people (thankfully) go through those added complications. for me in hindsight the erpc would have been my best option and made the process much less traumatising. i am now receiving counselling for my loss.
i know some people are concerned about how erpc affects your womb and to give you a little reassurance, even after all of that, i am now 10+3 in a new pregnancy having only had one af after the erpc. everything is perfect so far too (had a scan last week after a scare).
hope u r all ok and you find that informative, not trying to scare anyone so i do apologise if it comes across like that.
