I think it might be a raise in HCG because I'm perimenopausal?

I know it won't be leading to anything, but I just wondered if I should see my GP?

I have had a few miscarriages in the past and I'd rather know what to expect I.e early miscarriage or nuts perimenopause symptoms Grin

I did both tests yesterday evening - they are the 6 days early type.

I could smell a weird smell on myself all day which made me think I should test.

I think I need HRT, I can't go through the next few months feeling pregnant.and smelling weird.

Also, I know it's not the point of the thread but I have felt so isolated recently that having MN company and kindness is so appreciated.

Well you don't need to feel isolated any more as we will all be here for you - regardless of the pregnancy outcome Flowers

Libelula21 · 11/10/2023 08:48

I think a reason to take care of yourself sounds like an excellent message from your body, OP.

What are you going to do that’s nice for yourself today?

Lwrenagain · 11/10/2023 09:08

Another one thinking of you.
If you find out you are pregnant I have just had a baby, if you'd like I'll save you my baby things (co sleeper/moses basket/steriliser and tommee tippee etc) and I'll have it delivered to you.
Just to save you some time, you've alot on and if I can help you in any way I will x

IVFfirsttimer91 · 11/10/2023 09:55

Another one here happy to save any baby bits! Ours isn’t due until March so will have all the tiny clothes around still when you are due :) they’re girly though, so may not be suitable, but still happy to send when you need

Storynanny1 · 11/10/2023 10:23

What lovely kind messages x I’m watching your thread and thinking of you and your son. I did several pregnancy tests between 48 when I met my husband and 51 and each time had similar symptoms as you. Like you I was in two minds.
I think it was peri though and I had a last period at 54.
Sending best wishes to you.

Whiskeypowers · 11/10/2023 10:53

Thinking of you and so sorry to read about your son.
take care of yourself and lots of us here are sending you virtual support 💐

purplepandas · 11/10/2023 11:16

Also rooting for you. Sending love, must be so utterly tough to hear the news about you son.

An update for those bobbing along on this weird and wonderful journey with me:

Did a non-sensitive co-op pink dye late last night and got the faintest of faint lines within the first 5 minutes. It was so faint, even an imaginary line would have been darker Grin

I decided to dig deep and be demanding and the GP is calling me today. I want a blood test to monitor HCG levels.

Over-stretched GP services are no good for those of us who were taught to shut up and put up. I don't even like asking for an appointment because I am acutely aware of demand.

I was recent at my GP's very early morning a few weeks ago and the queue of people requesting an appointment/prescription was all men over 60. Without exception.

The receptionist seemed resigned to dealing with them, even though it is far outside 'the system'. I strongly suspected that all the women over 60 were following the system or just receiving no care at all.

You have every right to ask for it to have it checked!

nobodysdaughternow · 12/10/2023 09:51

Thank you - the GP called me and I'm going in today for a blood test which is great.
