I think it might be a raise in HCG because I'm perimenopausal?

I know it won't be leading to anything, but I just wondered if I should see my GP?

I have had a few miscarriages in the past and I'd rather know what to expect I.e early miscarriage or nuts perimenopause symptoms Grin

I did both tests yesterday evening - they are the 6 days early type.

I could smell a weird smell on myself all day which made me think I should test.

I think I need HRT, I can't go through the next few months feeling pregnant.and smelling weird.

Why do you think pregnancy is such a remote chance?

I'm 49 and have been on HRT for peri symptoms for a year. Recently had a trans vaginal ultrasound for fibroids and the radiographer told me I still had two large follicles in each ovary and could certainly get pregnant if I had unprotected sex.

@nobodysdaughternow , of course you are pregnant, why would it say you are and just be a hormonal blip?
You did 2 tests they are both positive.
Congratulations!

Hello! I have a GP appointment today at 4.30. I did another early test and the line is a bit darker. I think it's been 11 days since we had sex.

I have been worrying that it's some kind of life-ending disease so even if it's failing attempt at a baby, it'll be a relief.

Hoping the GP will refer me in for a scan.

Will update later this evening.

I didnt know you could get pregnant if you have started menopause

WineAndFireside · 09/10/2023 15:54

I hope you get the answer you'd like OP.

Pollywoddles · 09/10/2023 15:55

The two you have posted are not positive tests, there’s loads of them on the pregnancy/conception boards. Clearblue have gone to the dogs. The lines are too thin/don’t look right at all.

Hopefully your doctor can give you clarity but I wouldn’t be worried about pregnancy from looking at them.

Scutterbug · 09/10/2023 15:58

Good luck with the doctor x

nopenotplaying · 09/10/2023 16:01

Good luck. I think its entirely possible you are pregnant. The quality of your egg will determine how things progress from now. I had a 'chemical pregnancy' when I was 40. It ended a few days after an early test, if I hadn't tested I'd have been non the wiser and just thought my period was late/heavy. I hope you get the outcome you wish for. Xx

IVFfirsttimer91 · 09/10/2023 16:04

Good luck for this afternoon!

Yalta · 09/10/2023 16:07

I know someone who got pregnant and had a healthy baby at 50 after giving up on years of ivf and had resigned herself to not having children

Aquamarine1029 · 09/10/2023 16:13

My great grandmother had her last baby at 50. It's definitely possible.

PenelopeTheShroudWeaver · 09/10/2023 16:16

Hope you get some answers OP!

@BBno4 your menopause is a one-off point when you haven't had a period for 12 months. When you're peri-menopausal, you still have periods and get pregnant, although your chance of a successful pregnancy reduces over time.

You shouldn't stop using contraception until a year after your last period. You don't count as in menopause until a year after your last period either.

EmmaPaella · 09/10/2023 16:28

Good luck at the GP OP. Hope you get some answers.

Peri-menopause and menopause are very different things, and you can absolutely get pregnant during peri-menopause.

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 09/10/2023 16:28

Goodness! I hope the GP can provide a definitive answer

Zzizzisnotzeproblem · 09/10/2023 16:30

I don’t know why you would think multiple pg tests would be wrong. I would imagine you are pregnant and wish you well.

OrangesLemonsLimes · 09/10/2023 16:34

If you would be happy to be pregnant then I really hope that you are, OP. Best wishes.

Oysterbabe · 09/10/2023 16:42

How would you feel about being pregnant?

Tinaforshort · 09/10/2023 16:42

Best wishes for the GP. I hope you get some answers OP Flowers

A baby at 50? A 20 year old at 70? Makes my head spin just thinking about it, but my great grandmother had her 11th child at 49.😮
