I think it might be a raise in HCG because I'm perimenopausal?

I know it won't be leading to anything, but I just wondered if I should see my GP?

I have had a few miscarriages in the past and I'd rather know what to expect I.e early miscarriage or nuts perimenopause symptoms Grin

I did both tests yesterday evening - they are the 6 days early type.

I could smell a weird smell on myself all day which made me think I should test.

I think I need HRT, I can't go through the next few months feeling pregnant.and smelling weird.

Those tests look like classic Clearblue evaps - the lines are too thin to be a genuine positive and have developed after the timeframe. Hope your doctor can help but I’d get some pink dye tests if you can.

Every woman of child bearing g years should keep a FRER at home and replace when out of date , preferably a double pack. They are the most reliable tests clearblue are rubbish.

ApolloandDaphne · 09/10/2023 16:59

A pregnancy at 50 would certainly be a surprise!

KenIsAnAccessory · 09/10/2023 17:00

Ooh good luck OP, hope you get your preferred answer!

Toffeebythesea · 09/10/2023 17:00

Surely people must realise that most of these great grandmothers who had their last baby at 50 were bringing up a grandchild

PerspiringElizabeth · 09/10/2023 17:02

Good luck OP. My friend’s mum had a surprise baby at 52, she’s now in her 20s and thriving in every way. Hope you get some answers asap!

Marmite17 · 09/10/2023 17:03

Regarding the year rule for periods and menopause, I had a last hurrah period over a year after the last one. Up until then I was still getting about to menstruate physical signs, with nothing happening.
I hope you get the answer you want x

Tribevibes · 09/10/2023 17:04

My mum has her meno (last period) at 60 on the dot so it can happen but you would be an outlier.

I know. There are often these claims on here.

AWIAANGAF · 09/10/2023 17:10

Good luck. I hope whatever happens it’s a positive outcome for you.

Aylestone · 09/10/2023 17:11

A positive pregnancy test means you’re pregnant surely? Fingers crossed for you

My great great grandmother had a late forties baby, definitely not a grandchild in her case. Almost all of my female ancestors were having babies up to at least mid forties. I had my last at 43 but I am pretty sure I could have had one more if I’d tried.
50 is rare but I do know of a couple, one a sibling of a friend, it does happen.

Lordofmyflies · 09/10/2023 17:14

I'd say you're pregnant! Positive tests x 2, unprotected sex during peri-menopause. Your body tends to throw out more follicles as you approach menopause, I guess to empty stores?, hence the increase chances of twins in later reproductive years. Good luck!

MummyJ36 · 09/10/2023 17:14

Hope it goes ok at the GP’s ok! Let us know how it all turns out ♥️
