Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Hi Em,

Welcome! Not decided on where to meet yet, trying to get more people to make that date then decide on where. Steph xxx

Hi, I'm a mum of two girls, Emily(3.5) and Charlotte (9months). Moved to Fishbourne near Chichester in the summer and starting to feel a little isolated, realising that I need some new friends, for all three of us. Would love to hear from others. Tracey

Hi Cheeseandham, Welcome! You are quite welcome to meet up with us but not sure if still on for the 23rd as noone seems to have got back to me yet. Not sure where to meet yet either as not sure where is half way. I have two daughters Isabella who is 2 today and Sophia who is 4 months.

You'd all be welcome at the Brighton meet 11 March for lunch.

fatbetty · 19/02/2006 20:29

Hi all! Sorry that I haven't written lately but still up for the 23rd. Where is Chichester? I'm in Reigate and don't mind travelling to anywhere. I have two boys, John (3) and Nathan (18 months). Any ideas where we could meet fairly central to all?

fatbetty · 19/02/2006 20:33

Maybe Horsham? Is there anywhere there we could meet up?

funnytype · 20/02/2006 14:55

Could do Horsham but know it that well, come on lets decide on somewhere! Steph xx

I don't really know what is around in the area. I've heard that there are some good places in Horley but not sure what or where they are. Any idea?

LIZS · 21/02/2006 15:07

don't want to stick my oar in but the only place I can think of in H is a "family" pub with a soft play area attached - was a Wacky Warehouse -but not worth making a special trip for imho. There is Arctic Jungle in Crawley I think or a couple of farm parks near Horsham. {takes oar out}

funnytype · 21/02/2006 21:31

Liz thats ok, thanks for the ideas of meeting up. Know the Wacky Warehouse at Horley Air Balloon and have heard of the Arctic Jungle but am planning to go there on Friday so thats out really, shall we say the Air Balloon? We met there before Fat Belly, does anyone else want to join us? Shall we say about 11ish?

Hi there, I live in Chichester and have a daughter of nearly . I would love to chat to other mums and meet up if possible. I may even pluck up the courage to go to the meet up on Friday at the Flying Fortress if that is still going ahead ? Mind you I normally chicken out of such things being a bit shy...

Hello CheeseandHam Fishbourne is nice, we sometimes go to the duckpond there and dd loves it.

Bye for now x

littlepickle · 21/02/2006 22:08

oops, dd is nearly 3.

CheeseandHam · 21/02/2006 22:26

Hi Littlepickle, I know how you feel, the chat bit is great but I end up getting nervous when it comes to meeting up with loads of others....Don't think I could take the pace of a speed-dating evening. All seems very scary now that I am a married lady! Whereabouts in Chichester are you?

Tracey

littlepickle · 22/02/2006 08:21

CheeseandHam, we are 15 mins walk from the centre near Sainsburys. Lots to do round here and looking forward to the warmer weather when we can get out to the parks again. Have you been to Staunton Country Park, it has all the animals for little ones to feed and a good play area and cafe, it is about 20 mins from Fishbourne, went last week very muddy but good fun. x

littlepickle · 22/02/2006 08:36

CheeseandHam We are off to Tescos this morning.. yawn..on the Fishbourne roundabout, its a small world isnt it ! do you ever go to tumble tots at the Westgate leisure centre, used to take dd when she was a crawler and very occasionally go now, its very good for rainy days, open on Wednesday and Friday mornings. You work part time ? Where in Fishbourne are you, we drive thorugh to go to Emsworth quite often in the week.

fatbetty · 22/02/2006 08:54

Don't mind meeting up at the Hot Balloon in Horley. Littlepickle, I know how you feel about meeting new people too. It's great talking to people on here in the comfort of your own home. Are you planning on coming tomorrow or is it too far for you?

littlepickle · 22/02/2006 09:57

Hello Fatbetty, tomorrow I am off to parents lucky as they live only half an hour away and supposedly going to the animal park might be a bit wet and muddy I think ! I thought that you lot were all meeting on Friday at the Flying Fortress ? Ive been there with dd and dh one rainy sunday a new weeks ago it was manic, never been in the week probably much quieter. those places can be exhausting ! I quite like just meeting at friends houses for a play and coffee, tho though this can be just as hard and very messy, this site is great, Im off to buy a load of ingredients for some fab recipes I found on another thread x

fatbetty · 22/02/2006 10:44

Maybe I missed the message about the Flying Fortress. Where is that? I don't mind where we meet. I know going someplace like a soft place area is more work than realised. Spend half the time chasing after the kids. The one at the Hot Balloon isn't that big so you can watch the kids while having a cup of tea.

I've just spent half the morning dealing with my 3 year old and his tantrums. I'm suppose to meet up with a friend and her kids today but using that as an incentive for him to snap out of it. Only thing is I think I will pull out my hair if we don't get together with her and his behaviour is not improving. Argh!!! Why is it that we have a couple really great days and then a terrible, no good, very bad day thrown in there. Sorry, just had to vent.

littlepickle · 22/02/2006 12:05

Hi Fatbetty, just back form shops and yes I know wha you mean about having bad days ! I admit to bribery in supermarket, bought dd a daisy bus plastic toy for £2 just to keep her happy. I think alot of its due to the weather its really restricting being so wet and dull.. roll on summer ! hope your day improves, I too are off to meet with a new friend today, no idea how that will pan out and how dd with behave there ! but at least its getting out which is half the battle

funnytype · 22/02/2006 12:30

May have to leave it for tomorrow as dd has the runs so unless she gets better by tomorrow might be best to re-arrange another date and decide on a venue then or now. Fatbetty sorry to hear 3 year old is giving you grief.

Sorry to hear about your dd, Steph. Hope she feels better soon.

shall we aim for Friday then at the flying fortress? Would that work better?

I do the same thing with bribing my kids at the supermarket however now I can't get through the store without getting them a toy or a bag of cookies!

Feeling a bit better about things as I had my friend and her kids over. Why do kids usually behave better around others?

fatbetty · 23/02/2006 08:32

Since I haven't heard if we are meeting up today, I'm taking it that we are not meeting today and that we are rescheduling. At the moment I'm planning on leaving my house here in a little bit - so if I'm wrong about today's meet up please let me know.
