Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Hiya!! Just a quick post to say that it is looking questionable whether or not I'll make it tomorrow now. I have an infection and have been prescribed some killer antibiotics which are wrecking my stomach and, as you can imagine, I am pretty knackered with being heavily pregnant as well... So, can I say that I will turn up if I can, but not to hang around for me if I am not there - I am usually pretty good at being on time/early. Sorry to be so crap, but if I make a sudden revival, I will see you all tomorrow!!

Firewalker · 10/09/2007 14:10

Oh Helena

That's a shame. i do hope you feel better tomorrow, but understand if you can't make it. We will have to meet up when you are on maternity leave.

Everyone else - look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Amandoh · 10/09/2007 19:46

Hello again,

I'm sorry girls but I'm going to have to sit this one out. My dog, Euby, was knocked down by a car last night ( I went out to water the plants, he followed me out, went through the hedge and into the road. The driver of the car was fine, if a little shaken but Euby was injured. ) He had xrays today and luckily nothing is broken but he's quite badly cut and has fluid on his lungs. He's still at the vets and under sedation and probably won't be home for a couple of days. Understandably we're all pretty upset and I'm not very good company right now. To be honest I'd rather be at home incase there's any news/change in his condition.

I hope you all have a great time and I hope I can join you next time.

Amanda

I'm so sorry o read about your poor dog. I do hope he will soon be better and can understand that you don't feel up to coming tonight. Keep us posted on how he is won't you? i'd love to have a dog (DD is desperate for one), but we're not at home often enough.

Is everyone else still coming tonight (excepting Helena maybe) as I don't want to be Billy No-Mates standing outside Tesco!!

funnytype · 11/09/2007 11:30

I am really sorry but I dont think I will be able to come tonight as was really sick this morning and have got the runs too (yuck!) and feel terrible. Unless I suddenly feel better later will have to cancel I feel really bad as it seems a few of us wont be coming. Amanda, sorry to hear about your dog, please keep us updated, hope he is on the mend very soon. Helena hope u are feeling better soon.

Amanda, sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he recovers quickly and is back home soon.

Steph and Helena, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Hope you get better soon.

Well Paula, it looks like we are the only ones left. Should we reschedule for another day so the others can join us or should we meet up. It doesn't matter to me. I've been cleaning like a mad woman today as my family arrives next week - so might be completely out of it by this evening.

Mary

Firewalker · 11/09/2007 12:27

Oh Steph

I'm so sorry I do hope you feel better soon - maybe tonight wasn't meant to be then!

Mary - I'll leave it up to you as you are the one doing all the driving to me. If you feel up to it, then I'm still happy to meet you, if not, then I quite understand.

I'll keep a look out and will look on here again at about 2pm to see if you still want to do it. If you don't I honestly won't be offended, but obviously I'll need to cancel the booking with the restaurant.

Paula

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 12:32

Hi..are we rescheduling in light of the lack of numbers this time?

Firewalker · 11/09/2007 14:47

Hi there

Yes we are. I've now cancelled the restaurant booking as I thought I'd better not leave it too late to do it. Fortunately it was fine.

Anyway, I'll wait to hear from everyone about when they are next free and re-book. Hopefully we will do it before Christmas!!! Helena, I guess we may not get anything in before babba comes along, but perhaps I can see you when you are on mat leave?

I'll wait to hear from everyone, I can do every day bar Monday but not the week of 1st October.

Hope everyone feels much better soon and that Amanda's dog is soon 100%.

Steph - I'll be in touch about a Monday meet up.

Dropdeadfred · 11/09/2007 15:19

okay I can do any nights apart from Monday and Friday...

Mumpbump · 11/09/2007 16:33

Sorry this meet-up didn't work out. I will do my best to make the next one and will obviously let you know when the baby arrives. Have to go back to the hospital tomorrow morning for some more blood tests to check liver function... What a bore!

Firewalker · 12/09/2007 14:47

Helena

Good luck for today. Let us know how it goes.

Mumpbump · 12/09/2007 14:51

Hiya Paula! Thanks for asking... My liver functions are up so I have to keep an eye on the baby's movements and they are now also testing for obstetric cholestasis. If the itching on my hands and feet is anything to go by, I think there's a fairly good chance I have got it, but the test results won't be back until Friday. They've made me an appointment with a consultant anyway for next Thursday and I'm betting they will want me to have an induction fairly soon after that if the results come back positive. Back to the antenatal day unit on Friday for another CGT, then twice next week for CGT/bloods... All very reminiscent of how I spent the last couple of weeks pg with ds except I didn't need to have any bloods taken... I HATE blood tests...

Amandoh · 12/09/2007 19:02

Hi again,

Thank you all so much for your kind messages regarding Euby. He came home today and just wants to sleep. He's got lots of cuts and scrapes and doesn't seem keen on being fussed over but that's to be expected. He was so very lucky not to have been killed and the Vet said it's amazing that nothing was broken and that it was probably his muscular build (He's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier) that saved his bacon! He has lots of pills to take daily and has to go back to see the Vet on Friday but he should make a full recovery.

I'm really sorry to read that the meet didn't go ahead. Any ideas as to when we might try again? I'm having surgery on the 26th of this month and won't be up and about for about 5 weeks after that but I should be able to make pretty much any date before then. I also wondered if any of you had noticed the "Croydon & surrounding areas" thread. They have arranged a meet at The Clocktower Cafe in Croydon at 2pm on Monday 17th Sep. I'm going to go along so if any of you are free why not pop along too.

Take care,

Amanda x

PS:

Funnytype - I hope you're feeling better and that it was only a short lived tummy bug.

Mumpbump - Fingers crossed for your results on Friday! Keep us posted.

Firewalker · 13/09/2007 15:59

Hi everyone

Firstly, Amanda - I'm so glad to hear your dog is much better. What surgery are you having on 26th? If you would rather not say on here I fully understand. Will you have to recoup at home for 5 weeks then? I can't come on Monday actually as I'm already meeting friends on Monday afternoon - a date which I've had in the diary for ages. Sorry I won't see you.

Helena - oh dear I'm sorry to read this. Just keep us posted and I hope all is OK. I hate blood tests too.

Steph - are you better?

Mary - I hope you have a nice time with your parents next week. Let's hope this good weather continues.

Amandoh · 14/09/2007 12:32

Hi Firewalker,

I'm sorry to read that you can't make the Clocktower Cafe meet on Monday. Next time perhaps.

I've been thinking about the logistics of wandering up to a large group of strangers and introducing myself... Starting to feel a bit nervous now. Keep telling myself that I won't be the only one there that won't know anyone. Did you all get the jitters before meeting up for the first time? Also, did you worry about what to wear? No, didn't think so. Just me then .

Just to let you all know that Euby is still slow on his feet but he's actually getting up and sauntering into the kitchen now every time he hears the fridge open (Nothing wrong with his ears or his appetite!). Still taking lots of tablets and having to wash and treat his wounds but he'll soon be back to his old self.

As for the surgery... I'm having a boob reduction and some scar revision. Doesn't seem to matter how much weight I lose I'm still a DD cup so I'm going down to a C. I have to have bed rest for a week after then no heavy lifting for about 5 weeks. As we have about 10 steps up to our front door it means I won't be able to get out with Theo as I won't be able to carry the buggy up or down by myself.

DropDeadFred - I've seen your name on the Clocktower Cafe meet thread. Looking forward to meeting you. (How will I recognise you?)

Take care and enjoy the weekend... According to the met office it's the last of the nice weather so make the most of it!

Firewalker · 14/09/2007 15:11

Amanda

Yes, maybe I can make the next meet. To be honest when we all met up I had already met Funnytype separately and she had already met Fatbetty, so it wasn't as if we didn't know each other at all. Mumpbump joined our next meet up so not sure how she felt, but it was fine and we all got on great. I hope it goes well on Monday (let me know), but I know how it is when you first go into a crowd where you don't know anyone. It's pretty daunting, but I bet all will be fine.

Your operation sounds sore. I do hope it goes well, but it sounds terrible being housebound for 5 weeks. I'd go nuts. Caterham is only 10 minutes drive for me so if you want some company one Monday afternoon let me know and I'll pop in and see you. Just pm me your address.

Glad the dog is getting better too.

Take care all (let me know how you all are) and have a great weekend.

Paula x

Dropdeadfred · 17/09/2007 08:49

Amanda, I will be the one with a blonde little grl in a purple zapp pushchair!
Don't worry I'm nervous too!

Amandoh · 17/09/2007 12:14

Hey Dropdeadfred,

I'm just setting off now. Thanks for letting me know how to recognise you. I'm wearing dark jeans and a brown cardie and my hair is tied back.

See you there!

Amanda x

PS: Firewalker... Thanks for your message. I'll let you know how we got on today. x

Dropdeadfred · 17/09/2007 21:06

Lovely to meet you all today ladies!!

Amandoh · 18/09/2007 13:55

Hello again,

I hope you're all well and enjoying the lovely weather we're having today.

Dropdeadfred ~ It was great meeting you yesterday and I really enjoyed our chat. It's nice to meet someone who, like me has older children as well as a toddler. I'd love to come along to the toddler group tomorrow. As I said I already have arrangements with a friend but as she's notorious for cancelling I'll give her a ring this evening to see what's happening. If she's not coming then I'll be in touch.

Firewalker ~ I'm happy to report that the meet yesterday went well and everyone was very friendly. It's a shame you couldn't make it. Admittedly I was nervous as I approached the table but I needn't have worried and am looking forward to meeting them all again.

Some company post op would be most welcome. I know it's short notice but as Monday afternoon seems to be your free spot how about meeting up for a coffee/lunch next Monday as I go in for the op next Wednesday? If this is convenient and as Caterham is only a short drive for you, perhaps we could meet up either in Costa Coffee or Pizza Express in Caterham. This is, of course, an open invitation to everyone on the board so if anyone else is free it would be lovely to meet you.

Take care,

Amanda x

Dropdeadfred · 18/09/2007 14:42

Amanda, it was really nice to chat to you too. Would be great to meet up again soon, if not the todler group then for a coffee. I can always add another offer of company for when you're holed up after surgery?

Everyone yesterday was so friendly.

Peachygirl and splish splosh your dc's are sooo sweet. And I'm sorry I've forgotten the mn name of the lady with the baby...would be great to see you again when you have time for a proper chat.
If we do have another evening meet up arranged perhaps you could all come to that?

Firewalker · 18/09/2007 15:03

Hello Amanda and Dropdeadfred

I'm glad you all had a nice time yesterday. I did think of you, but I already had something going on and couldn't make it. Generally you find that most people you meet up with are really friendly which is great. Certainly everyone I've met on this thread is. I would have loved to have met up next Monday, but I have already agreed to meet another friend I haven't seen for ages then so can't do it and can't do the week after either! Sorry, however I do have the afternoon 8th October free and would love to meet up then if you are around. I appreciate you may not be up to much of course though. I will keep it free so that we can hopefully catch up. It's a nightmare only having one day free each week to try and cram everyone in. If I was allowed to drop back to three days a week at work, I'd be really pleased then I could see a lot more people!

I hope everyone else on here is OK as I haven't heard from them ages which is most unusual - ladies are you OK?

Paula

funnytype · 18/09/2007 17:30

Hi Ladies,

Sorry not posted for a while. Shame about the night out but hopefully we'll arrange another soon, maybe November when Helena has had her baby. As for next Monday would love to meet up but am away this Friday until Monday off up north to visit the in laws and also going to a christening on the Sunday. Lets make a date for meeting one Monday soon if I can get the car as my dh and I share one at the moment. Hope everyone is well and speak soon.

Dropdeadfred and Amandoh - it was lovely to meet both of you - I was a bit nervous beforehand as well, but everyone was very friendly. Amandoh - you ds was so well behaved, and Dropdeadfred, your dd so tolerant to being covered in cushions for my dd's sleep game.

Hope to meet again
