Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas. We managed to make it through Christmas with a full house of family and the kids getting completely overwhelmed with gifts. Now where to find places for them all. Madeleine is doing great. She has changed so much already and is growing in leaps and bounds!

Have a great New Year's and keep me posted on the next meet up.

Hi all. Had a great Christmas and New Year. Glad you did too Mary and Steph. Rhianna came down on Christmas morning and saw all the presents under the tree, she came rushing to find us and said "Mummy, Daddy, come and look, Father Christmas has been" - ahhhhhhh!
Had a lovely new year as went up to London for DH's birthday (just the two of us) on the Saturday. Saw Sound of Music which was great and stayed overnight in a hotel and went to a party on New year's Eve, coming back New Year's Day. We did miss Rhianna although we had a wonderful time.
Re meet up - shall we go for something like first week of February?

Novembergirl · 07/01/2007 14:16

Hello ladies, wondered if I might gatecrash your thread?

I live in West Sussex, near Arundel, and have one DS who is two next month. I work in London but try my best to meet local mums...I suspect that you live quite far away but thought I would say hi...

fatbetty · 07/01/2007 21:55

Happy New Year all and welcome Novembergirl!! I hope you all survived the holiday season. My Mom left today and having mixed feelings - sad to see her leave, but so happy to have my house back and get back into life. DS1 started nursery again this past Thursday and I think we both we glad of that. Haven't done a whole lot outside since the weather has been horrible.

First week in February sounds good to me for a meetup

Mumpbump · 08/01/2007 15:17

Happy New Year! Back from holiday with ds and my two dsc... Hard work!!! A total of 8 of us in my sister's 3 bedroom chalet... Glad to hear that Madeleine is doing well and that everyone seems to have had good festive seasons.

I would be up for meeting up in Feb. Evening thing would be better for me, but I have to take some time off work to make some progress on our building site of a house, so day-time meet would not be impossible...

Firewalker · 09/01/2007 09:45

OK, well we'll wait to hear from Steph then.

Welcome Novembergirl. My grandparents lived in Arundel for ages and I loved going to visit them there. It's such a nice place and we were only saying recently that we really must go there one day and take DD when the weather is better.

Glad everyone is well. Take care

Mumpbump · 09/01/2007 14:46

Can I pick your collective maternal brains, please?? We are having a rare weekend without my dsc this coming weekend and I am trying to think of something nice to do with dh and ds (11mo today!!). I had thought of driving to Bath and going to the new thermal spa baths there, but it turns out they won't admit children under 12 without a medical reference...

I don't really know of any child-friendly (but not necessarily child-focused) things to do around Redhill/Reigate - any thoughts/inspiration??

fatbetty · 11/01/2007 14:54

Are you looking are just a day activity or going away for the weekend? Don't really know of any child-friendly hotels but I'm sure there must be something close by. I think one of my friends has done some weekends away with her family - I could ask her.

fatbetty · 11/01/2007 15:08

There is a a link on mumsnet under "find the best" for weekend breaks. That might help out. Or you could go farther afield and head to Disneyland Paris. My friend did that with her 2 and had a good time.

Mumpbump · 11/01/2007 16:01

Thanks! Will have a look at the link for future reference. I think the problem has been solved anyway since dh has remembered that we're having cable tv installed on Saturday pm and are picking up an MPV from Canterbury on Saturday am, leaving Sunday which is earmarked for DIY... So much for quality time together!! Think we are now reduced to taking ds swimming at Donyngs in the morning!!

Sorry - I wasn't trying to make a point! Just the computer went a little mad...

Firewalker · 12/01/2007 10:47

Have a nice time Mumpbump whatever you decide to do. If the weather is nice and you get time, you could always go to Godstone Farm or somewhere like that. Rhianna loves it there.

What's Donnings like? Does it get really busy at weekends? I sometimes take Rhianna swimming on a Monday with friends at Oxted which is lovely but it's too crowded to go at the weekend.

Mumpbump · 12/01/2007 15:26

The baby pool is very busy on Saturdays because they have swimming lessons. The big pool is never super busy in my experience so far, but it is quite cold (about 25/26°, I think). They have an inflatable hour, but can't remember when it is. It is not as fun as Oxted (no waves or slides), but okay for swimming. The not-so-new K2 complex in Crawley is good for children.

Hi Ladies, Welcome November Girl. Hope you are all well. I am up for a February meet up, will this be an evening one or could we do both? What nights are best for everyone? I cant do Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the mo and some Fridays. As for day time, can do most days except Tuesday mornings but ok with Mondays as I know Paula you can only do that day.

Have a good weekend.

I can do any evening in early Feb at the moment other than 9 Feb when ds will be 1yo!!

fatbetty · 16/01/2007 09:38

I'm pretty open at the moment. John has nursery every morning but could possibly get together for a bit in the morning before dashing off. Or afternoons.

Firewalker · 16/01/2007 12:22

Shall we arrange an evening out - and at the evening we could arrange a daytime meet? What do you think? Time is going past so quickly. I can't do 1st February as going out for a meal that night with post natal group and can't do 14th as DH and I are going out for Valentine's Day meal, but otherwise OK. I prefer not to do a Monday evening because I'm always more exhausted on that day than the days I go to work!!

Mumpbump thanks for the info. I loathe cold pools so we'd better avoid that. We went to a brilliant health club on Sunday morning which was lovely and the water was so warm, I'm trying to get them to do a good deal for us at the moment!

funnytype · 17/01/2007 16:55

How about an Thursday or Friday night? Could do the 8th or 22nd or Fridays the 23rd? Can anyone make one of those dates?

OP posts:
Mumpbump · 18/01/2007 11:14

I can do any of those dates at the moment...

Firewalker · 18/01/2007 11:29

I can do any of those as well!

Are we going to go to ASK in Reigate again> I don't mind if that's easiest for us all.

Mumpbump · 18/01/2007 12:32

I don't mind ask, but there is a very good pub just off the A23 called the Joshua Tree in Earlswood which has nice food, reasonably priced...
