Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Midwife appt went well. Nothing to report really - baby appears to be ready but hasn't decided to make that final push. Went to buy some raspberry tea this afternoon as the midwife suggested it. Maybe I'll try some and take a bath and see if anything happens. I am feeling better - not so uncomfortable during the day - but getting a bit fed up of being pregnant.

Hello,
Just found this thread. I live in Crawley, West Sussex. I have a 2 year old son and a 5 year old daughter. Did anyone ever arrange a meet of parents in this area? What groups does everyone go to in real life?

LOL

Hi ZoeElizabeth- I'm in Reigate which isn't too far away from you. I have 2 boys, one nearly 4 and 2 and expecting my third at any moment (due date is today! but don't think baby is going to show any time soon). We've met up a few times for dinner and some have met during the day. We'd love to have you join us.

Off to pick up DS1 from nursery. Chat to you soon.

Hi Zoe,

Welcome! I live in Copthorne so not far away from you. I have two daughters of 2 years and 13 months. We have met up at Tilgate Park and Arctic Jungle. I am meeting up on Monday 4th December with Firewalker if you are free to meet up then, and anyone else? Not decided where yet, might be my house or somewhere in Crawley.

Mary, any signs yet? Have a good weekend everyone.

Welcome to the board Zoe. Maybe I'll see you on the 4th.

Mary - do hope all goes well when it happens. Must be soon huh? Thinking of you.

fatbetty · 23/11/2006 12:55

Just to let you know, I'm still here and preggers! Officially 6 days over my due date (was sure I was going to have baby early) and have a induction schedule for Tuesday (28th). At least I can see the end now.

Firewalker · 23/11/2006 14:42

Oh Fatbetty - you can change your name to Thinbetty after next week!! Best of luck and I'm sure everything will be just fine. I look forward to reading the good news as soon as you can post. Take care now.

Fatbetty for a bit longer then! If you go earlier than the 28th, say the 26th it will be on my birthday! Hope it all goes well and look forward to hearing all about it! How is everyone doing? Anyone else want to meet up on 4th December?

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that our little girl finally decided to arrive before being induced. Madeleine Elizabeth was born on the 24th at 5:15am - weighing in at 7lbs. 11ozs. I took DS1 to see the switching on of the Christmas lights in Redhill that Thursday night and all the excitement must have encouraged her out! Felt the first contraction about 11:30pm and made our way to the hospital at 4am and she was born shortly after that! Even made it home in record time - I was released the same morning and was home by 10:30am! We are doing well, but still trying to find our feet with lack of sleep.

As for the Thinbetty name, I think I might have to keep it FatBetty for a while longer as the pregnancy weight is always difficult to get rid of. Especially with all the chocolate and biscuits I've been eating!

Firewalker · 28/11/2006 09:53

Congratulations! I'm so pleased Madeleine decided to come along before an induction (I always think induction must be such a shock for the poor baby). Glad all went well. I guess with Christmas coming up, it is going to be even less easy to get rid of the post pregnancy weight, but you deserve your choccies and to have a good pig out. Would love to come and meet Madeleine and have a cuddle in the New Year when you feel up to it.

Steph - I hope you had a nice birthday. Where would you like to meet on Monday?

funnytype · 28/11/2006 19:59

Congrats on baby Madaleine! Glad the labour went well and look forward to seeing you and your extended family in January! Had a lovely birthday thanks. Dont mind where we meet Monday can be my house again or we can meet somewhere?

Hope everyone is well.

Hi Steph

Did think about meeting in a park or something on Monday, but apparently the weather is going to be raining all day Monday (lovely!) as I said, it's always raining when I come to Crawley on Mondays! So, might be easier to meet around yours again if that's OK. I've got your address from last time and I'll be with you about 10 - 10.30 if that's OK? Let me know as I need to be at Mum's for 12 - 12.30. Look forward to seeing you.

Mumpbump · 30/11/2006 11:50

Hi Fatbetty - many, many congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter!! So pleased for you...

funnytype · 30/11/2006 14:15

Paula, at my house at 10/10.30 is fine, look forward to seeing you both on Monday. Mumbump, how are you doing? Is everyone ready for xmas? Have a few xmas pressies to get and putting up tree on Saturday.

Hiya Steph! I'm alright. Have been really busy at work and I think it will last through until Christmas. I think I'm going to pop down to Crawley on 11th to have a look around the shops. Do you fancy meeting up for a coffee in the Mall or somewhere near by? I'll probably have my little boy with me...

Mumpbump · 30/11/2006 21:46

BTW, we now have an au pair who is fantastic - very friendly and child orientated and aged 25 so is quite level headed. If anyone wants a hand with children during the day or babysitting, she is looking for ways to earn some extra cash. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread!

Firewalker · 01/12/2006 11:12

That sounds good about the au pair Mumpbump.

I hate to sound like Mrs Smug but I've got all my presents!! They're not wrapped yet though (that would be a bit too organised). Rhianna is in her Christmas Panto of Mary Poppins next week and the week after and has just mastered saying Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! The Lumdiddle diddle diddle lum diddle li bit is not so easy! Have a good weekend all and see you Monday Steph.

Mumpbump · 01/12/2006 15:39

Well, we're going to Bluewater this evening (and dragging poor ds along for the ride) so I can get dh's pressie from GAP and then I will hopefully only be finishing off on 11th... So hopefully, I will soon be Mrs. Smug Mark II!!

funnytype · 02/12/2006 08:43

Mumpbump, might be able to meet u on the 11th in the afternoon is thats any good? Isabella has her preschool nativity play in the morning and then a xmas party after but if you fancied meeting up after that or you are welcome to come here on your way home. Hope you had a successful shopping trip last night, went to Crawley yesterday morning and that was quite busy just to get some xmas cards and spend some of my birthday vouchers in debenhams. Still have lots more pressies to get not sure when I will go shopping next.

Hi All! Hope you all are well. Sorry for not keeping more in touch - Madeleine was in the hospital all last week (only got home this afternoon). She came down with bronchioitis. I'm so glad that we are home now - don't think we could take another night in the hospital. She is doing well now - she has a bit of a cough but that should go over the next few days. I am not even close to getting ready for Christmas. Feel like I lost the week as I didn't leave the hospital really - and if I did it was to pop home to spend 5 minutes with kids.

Mumpbump, I may take you up on getting your nanny's number for babysitting on the side. I've always asked friends if they used babysitters - as it's good to go with a recommendation - but nobody uses them. My Mom arrives this Thursday from the States and will be great to have her to help.

Mumpbump · 12/12/2006 10:18

Hi Steph! Sorry I didn't manage to meet up with you on Monday. Was busy with work and then an unwell baby. Have sent you an email anyway...

Mary - Sorry to hear that your dd was not well, but glad to hear that she is on the road to recovery! Sounds like you had a tough time... If you drop me a line on my email address, I'll give you our tel. no. or you can email our au pair directly on sanjarmen at hotmail dot com. She is very capable and not easily phased!!

Firewalker · 12/12/2006 15:54

Mary

So sorry to hear about Madeleine. I do hope she soon feels 100%, I guess you don't need Christmas right now, but good that your Mum is coming over to see you all and help out. I have a brilliant babysitter, but she lives too far away from you. She insists on babysitting Rhianna at least three times a month, won't charge either as she gets so much pleasure out of it, won't even let me cook her dinner or anything. She gets really annoyed when I even buy her flowers! I hope you manage to sort out someone anyway.

Steph - good to see you the other Monday. Rhianna talked about being in Isabella's "big bed" half the afternoon at Mum's!

Firewalker · 20/12/2006 10:55

Right I'm off for Christmas from tomorrow, coming back home and going away again for New year's night (just DH and I are going away for DH's birthday) and won't be back on line until 2nd January really, so - hope everyone has a Happy Christmas and a great new year.

Do hope Madeleine is better now, Mary
