West Sussex/Surrey Area

Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Well congratulations Fatbetty. Yikes, I greatly admire your energy to look after three. Rhianna is 2 years and 3 months and I'm exhausted just after spending one day with her! We adore her of course, but after the weekend and, for me, a Monday off with her, I definitely go into work for a good rest!! Goodness knows what I'll be like when she drops her lunchtime nap!

We're not having another one - I'd need the energy of Josie Jump to look after two and I really don't fancy sleepless nights and all that stuff again. Rhianna has been a dream sleeper since 12 weeks old. We never hear a peep out of her and I'm convinced that if we had another he/she would be completely the opposite and I don't do lack of sleep. I found it really hard when Rhianna was first born.

Anyway, waffle, waffle - I live in Purley now, but I used to live in Crawley and my parents still live there so I know the area well.

Is Morrison's where the old Safeway used to be? I haven't been to Reigate for so long now.

Hope your DS has a lovely birthday on Sunday.

fatbetty · 04/08/2006 18:04

Do you work full-time? After being on holiday with two kids I really wonder why we are doing this again! Two isn't so bad, especially if DH is around - one parent to each child. But when I'm by myself and go to the park with the kids - one tends to go one way and the other another!! Having a third will be nice (I was the third child too so a bit biased!) and I've heard that no.3 isn't too bad. DS1 and DS2 are great friends and play wonderfully together.

Morrisons was Safeway in Reigate. Parking at night is okay I imagine. It gets really busy during the school run.

Off to try to cook something to eat. sigh I really can't be bothered tonight!

funnytype · 04/08/2006 23:28

Congrats Fatbetty, you hadnt told me, you are so brave to have them so close together especially three close together! Are you hoping for a girl this time or dont mind? I would love a little boy but if we did go for number 3 probably end up with two girls! I dont mind meeting in Reigate as you can park at Morrisons, there is a nice indian restaurant near there but cant remember the name or we can go for something else what do you think?

Have a great weekend, busy one here, doing a nearly new sale tomorrow hope to make lots of cash.

We didn't know the sex with the first two - but we decided to find out this time and it's a girl! We are excited but it will be strange having a girl after having two boys. can't wait to get lots of pink and girly things.

funnytype · 06/08/2006 13:45

Fatbetty, that is great news you are having a girl, if you need any girls clothes let me know as have loads of 0-9 months trying to get rid of! So where are we going for this meal as the 17th isnt far off?

Hi there

No Fatbetty - I don;t quite work full-time, I work Tuesday to Friday, although up until recently I worked Tuesday to Thursday. I had to do another day due to office coverage but, although I really love my job, I'm not going to work full-time (hopefully ever)!! it's lovely that you're expecting a girl after two boys. DH always wanted a girl (I really wasn't bothered) so he's happy with his lot and I am too. The only reason we'd ever have another is for Rhianna's sake and not for ours which is not the right reason.

If you like I'll have a trawl on the internet of restaurants in Reigate (I probably have more time than you two being at work!), see what's around and post back.

fatbetty · 09/08/2006 09:56

Thanks Steph, we have loads of neutral clothes from when John and Nathan were born (as we didn't know what we were having) but it would be lovely to have some girly stuff if you are getting rid of them. I haven't even bought anything yet which feels a bit weird.

Reigate has the usual Cafe Uno, Cafe Rouge, Pizza Express if we want to do that. However, as much as I like Pizza Express I wouldn't suggest going there as the accoustics are incredible there and can be difficult to hear people at the best of times (and my hearing isn't the greatest as I have lost hearing in one of my ears). There are other restaurants too but haven't been to many.

Firewalker · 09/08/2006 15:16

have found the following restaurants

La Laterna in Bell Street (which I've been to loads of times, nice but expensive)
La Barbe in Bell Street
Ask - High Street (been to the one in Brighton and it was nice)
River Kwai Thai - High St
SI - High St
Golden Curry Tandoori - Bell St
Lal Akash - Bell St
Village Brasserie - West St
Caffe Uno - High St
Cafe Rouge - Church St
Clove Indian - Church St
Puccino's Cafe - High St
Tony Tobin at the Dining Room - High St

What does everyone fancy - I'm happy to go with the flow, but i don't know how far all of them are from Morrison's car park.

LIZS · 09/08/2006 15:25

Just seen this. dh is away or I might have been tempted to join you . Sweet Potato is nice too with Upper West St car park almost opposite.

funnytype · 09/08/2006 17:05

Too much choice! Cant afford something too expensive so how about Ask? Thats a nice restaurant a bit of a walk from the restuarant but we could always meet at the car park and walk up together.

Steph

Sounds good to me - I was hoping you'd choose Ask as Italian is my fave food. I've been to the one in Brighton a few times and it was really nice.

I'd like to meet in the car park and walk with you as I don't know where the place is.

Shame you couldn't join us Liz.

Ok do you think we need to book? Or can we just turn up? If we do book we could say about 8?

I was wondering that too - just about to go home now so I'll ring them tomorrow and ask them if we need to book. If we do then I'll obviously do it.

8 sounds fine to me. Hope that suits you as well Fatbetty?

fatbetty · 10/08/2006 21:02

8 sounds good to me. DH will definately be home at that time - sometimes he gets stuck in traffic.

Firewalker · 11/08/2006 11:56

Right - have booked table for 3 at 8pm on 17th in my name. Shall we meet in the car park at 7.45?

I will leave home at 7.15 so should be there in time, but I have Steph's mobile number if I get delayed because of traffic.

Look forward to seeing you both.

Firewalker · 11/08/2006 11:57

Hust checking - we're going to meet in Morrison's car park is that right?

fatbetty · 11/08/2006 17:06

Can do that! Shall we just meet outside of Morrison's?

funnytype · 11/08/2006 18:35

Will you meet you at 7.45 outside Morrisons. Looking forward to seeing you both be nice to have some adult conversation.

Have a good weekend, any plans? Having my hair cut and highlighted tomorrow morning and besides that quite a quiet weekend.

Hi. I've also put this on a thread of its own but am running out of time so need to reach you West Sussex ladies.

I've got an East Sussex SAHM. I now need a West Sussex SAHM for The Battle of Sussex.
It's a good laugh. It's six questions which are pitched more at the level of The Weakest Link than Mastermind.

Interested? Let me know. The quiz is on Monday and can be done down the phone.

Firewalker · 17/08/2006 08:24

Hi Kaloo

Might see you tonight then?

I live on the borders of Sanderstead. If you live near me, I could give you a lift. I'll sign on later this pm to check.

See you tonight Steph and Fatbetty.
