Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Hi Steph

Only just seen your message - hope you are feeling a lot better now?

After being a real nightmare on the Monday we met up, Rhianna has been an absolute joy since then - no tantrums at all. Funny things children aren't they?

Hi All! Steph, sorry for not getting back to your email. Haven't forgot about you!!! Just find it hard at times to sit down and write. Hope you all are well. Let me know when you next meet up is always changing. Will be away on holiday from next Friday for 2 weeks and then my Mom is coming over at the end of August. But please drop me a line and let me know of any dates and I will try to make them too!!

funnytype · 13/07/2006 07:48

Hi Fatbetty,

Nice to hear from you. Hope you have a great holiday, where are you off to?.

Shall we arrange something for August? Maybe an evening meet up somewhere central like Redhill, Reigate? Or somewhere else? We can also arrange a daytime meet up too.

Any suggestions?

Reigate is handy for me so that would be good. On holiday the last two weeks of August though.

Ok, lets make a date for August, what evenings are best for everyone? I can any night except Tues and Wed and some Fridays.

We're off to Japan! We are going there for a friend's wedding. Looking forward to going, but not really with kids in tow - if you know what I mean.

I'm free most nights, if we are planing a night out. Just let me know.

funnytype · 13/07/2006 19:25

Have a lovely time will wait to hear back from Firewalker then set a date.

Hi ya

Sorry I've taken an age to reply - been really busy.

Best night for me - doesn't really matter too much I suppose. It's my birthday this weekend so we're out all weekend (M and D have offered to have Rhianna again!) and am out with friends two nights next week and a couple the week after.

Going on holiday from 19th august. How about 15th or 17th August as I'm off on both those days so won't feel quite so stressed as if I'd been at work.

Hope that fits in with you.

Fatbetty - hope you had a lovely time in Japan.

Do you mean the 15th or 17th during the day? Prefer the 15th. Firewalker hope you have a great birthday. As for evening night out, maybe wait until Fatbetty is back from holiday hopefully she can make the 15th as should be back by then.

Hope you are well, we are ok here just not liking the heat!

Just read the message again you did mean the evening? If thats the case would have to be the 17th as go to Rosemary Conley on a Tuesday night.

OP posts:
Firewalker · 19/07/2006 15:16

Yes - evening, 17th would be good for me too.

Steph - agree re heat. Driving me nuts, but consolation of air conditioning in office and Rhianna has air con in her nursery. Phew!

I am up for the 17th, keep that date free and hopefully Fatbetty can join us. Let me know when you are free again for a daytime meet up too. Hope you are all well. Still hot today but not as bad.

Right - 17th is in diary!

Steph - sorry, having looked in diary, not free for a daytime meet up until beginning September now. Happy to put something in the diary though, any Monday in September is fine. Next three Mondays are choc-full and then on holiday for next two Mondays and BH Monday after that.

Take care in the heat - it's still blazingly hot up here.

Steph

Yes, sorry about that. I'm catching up with some people who've just had babies and an old schoolfriend I haven't seen for a year in the next few Mondays before holidays.

However, will look forward to seeing you on 17th. Horley is about 25 mins drive for me, but is OK as I know most of it. Would prefer somewhere where you can park directly outside though. Otherwise, Reigate is a little bit nearer, but I know parking can be a bit of a pain around there.

I'll leave it up to you to choose place when Fatbetty gets back.

THank you had a wonderful birthday as went up to London to see Guys and Dolls and had a meal, it was lovely.

Hi! Just got back from our holiday last night and feeling very queasy this morning with jet lag. It's 10am and I'm ready for bed....wish my kids were too.

I looked briefly at your messages and saw the 15th and the 17th. I'm free either day (or night). Just let me know.

funnytype · 03/08/2006 08:15

Welcome back Fatbetty! Hope your jetlag is over with now and hope you had a great time. We are meeting on the 17th in the evening but havent decided where to meet yet, thinking of Horley or Reigate. Did you want to have a meal or just a drink as there are plenty of places to eat in Horley and Reigate?

Hi Fatbetty

Glad you had a good time.

Steph - hope you are feeling better now. Sorry to hear you haven't been well.

Will wait to hear as to what you decide about venue.

Hi Paula,

Seems like ages since we met up! September might be a better month to meet up after your holiday.

Feeling much better thanks, just a bit fed up today as for the third day running Isabella is not having her 2 hour afternoon nap so not getting much of a rest. She seems to want to go to bed but keeps getting out, I keep putting her back but you can only do it so many times then I give up and bring her down.

17th sounds good. I have put it into my diary. Doesn't really matter to me whether we dine or just go for drinks. Reigate is obviously easy for me (where I live) but don't mind Horley.

Steph, I know what you mean when they start dropping naps. DS1 stopped taking naps a long time ago but now I tell him that after lunch is "quiet time" and he has to be in his room and he can either play with his toys or look at a book. I then close the door and tell him he can come out when I let him out - which usually is when he starts getting noisy. He can open the door but he is pretty good about staying up there for an hour or so by himself. On the odd occasion he has destroyed his room - but then he has to help pick it back up.

Firewalker · 04/08/2006 11:24

Hi ya.

Yes, Steph it does seem a lifetime ago now - even though it was only 6 weeks!

Sorry to hear about Isabella's lack of daytime naps. I must admit I'm dreading Rhianna dropping hers, although so far she shows no signs of wanting to and she still sleeps perfectly at night so we're hoping it will carry on for a few more months!! I do have friends whose children are the same age and have already dropped their naps and others who haven't. I apparently dropped mine at 18 months whereas my sister carried on until she was three years old (do hope Rhianna's going to do that)!!! Isabella is a couple of months older than Rhianna isn't she so maybe I'll have that to look forward to in a couple of months!

Well, as I say, I don't mind which venue we go to so long as I can park easily! Personally, I'd prefer to eat. Going out for dinner these days is something we are only able to do a couple of times a month now (for obvious reasons!) so I always like to take the opportunity when I can.

Fatbetty - how old is your son?

Paula x

fatbetty · 04/08/2006 13:19

DS1 is 3.5 and DS2 will be 2 on Sunday (can't believe he is 2 already!). And we are expecting again in November (don't remember if I told you Steph). DS1 used to take long naps in the afternoon until he was about 3. And DS2 will take a nap but he is a light sleeper and I think he knows that we are up and about while he is sleeping.

How old our your kids Paula? And where do you live?

Parking in Reigate isn't too bad. You can either park in Morrison's car park or I don't think you have to pay for parking in the car parks after 6:30.
