Nottingham Castle - Summer holidays

Anyone fancy meeting up and having a picnic in the summer holidays at Nottingham castle - it's free to get in and there a lovely playarea and area to have a chat and picnic.

I was planningto drive but now may get the train (parking not so easy there) or even the bus....will decide soon and let you all know.

sheffield - 10.38
nottingham - 11.29

I can get on at langley mil at 11.11 and meet you on the train

no i've not booked i tend to just pay on the train as our station is an unmaned one.

I am not booking in advance either, will buy at station. Don't think it'll be a busy one anyway at that time.

Looking forwrd to it - must remember I have to work a longer day on wednesday first though!

Just to let you girls know that my dp went to the Castle last week and they have introduced a charge - not sure how much it is but I am assuming it is nominal - apparently it is still free to City of Nottingham residents - I'm not. However, if you live in Nottinghamshire and have a library card and flash this they will let you in for free - so I joined the library on Saturday.

Thought I would let you know so you have some cash.

See you on Thursday. Are we all going to wear carnations in lapels? Whereabouts in the grounds are we meeting - at the top near the castle or near the bandstand etc?

So what date, 11th?? I cant make that as I'm going to a Sutton Meet up which is closer to me, and then DS1 is going to the outlaws for 2 nights (yippeeeeeeee) (only kidding) so I@ll have DS2 only, but still cant come.

If you do another meet up, keep me updated

Hi Everyone,

Not sure I'm going to make this any more. I can't get the day off work. We're being inspected. Kind of an Offstead equivelant for Language Schools. I reckon you're meeting about 15 minutes walk from my work though so I've got this crazy idea of bombing it down for 10 minutes in my lunch break. We'll see how it goes. If I do, it'll be without DS

we're meeting at the status which is on the right hand side on the entrance.

I'd say the best place to meet in the station is at the coffee shop near the entrance as there aren't many meeting places really at the station

If it is the same train, I catch the connection in Chesterfield, not Sheffield at 1053 to get into Nottingham at 1129.

You have my mobile no. Hula, I will try and text or call you, but if we fail to meet on the train, I will meet at the coffee shop in the station.

My return choices are limited - 1557 or 1642 to get home before 7pm.

Just looked on thetrainline.com and did Sheffield to Nottinghma via Chesterfield, and it is coming up with the same train. Central Trains i think. So, must be same one I think.

LOL, not sure about the being organised bit but you are welcome to CAT or e-mail to me. I am meeting FD and Gingerbear at station (plus others I think) beforehand, and walking over together. Our train gets in at 11:29 at station.

Oh no, I'm confuzzled. Thought the statue was to the left of the gates, down the road a bit? Have I got the right statue?
