Anyone fancy meeting up and having a picnic in the summer holidays at Nottingham castle - it's free to get in and there a lovely playarea and area to have a chat and picnic.

There are indoor play areas in Arnold and West Bridgeford, but don't know of any in city centre. What time are we meeting?

Hulababy · 08/07/2005 17:24

Around 12 noon I think. Think it is written somewhere on thread.

fairydust · 09/07/2005 12:48

hello ladies.

11th August

meet up time is 12.00 - there is a robin hood statue next to the main entrance of the castle there are bench's there i thought this would be a good place to meet.

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2005 22:46

I still don't know I'm afraid. It turns out 3 weeks isn't very long

serah · 19/07/2005 22:55

Still going as it stands!

gingerbear · 19/07/2005 22:56

Senora, would have really liked to meet you.

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2005 22:57

that's a don't know, not a no.

I have several excursions down south to plan and haven't managed to get good dates for everybody yet.

gingerbear · 19/07/2005 23:07

pick and choose carefully - you need to relax on hols, not stress over who you feel obliged to fit in.

Hope it is nice and cool for you here. (Dreadful about forest fires in Spain!)

fairydust · 23/07/2005 22:44

not long now ladies - dd is really looking forward to this and so am i

Us too

gingerbear · 28/07/2005 16:34

in case we need to dive for cover in this lovely summer weather!

Hulababy · 28/07/2005 16:36

Good thinking!

serah · 28/07/2005 22:56

Tales of Robin Hood is a 2 minute walk from the castle and supposed to be brill for kids (and hey, I've seen one of the Robin Hoods and he's really rather ok mum's ), but I have just got the prices off the internet, and they may be a bit steep for a large family. Or even a small one!!!! Just throwing it into the pot to support gingerbears idea of indoors activities though!

Adults: £7.95
Children: £5.95

Under 4's £1.95
OAP/Students: £6.95

Frizbe · 31/07/2005 09:36

Good idea serah, wonder if my dd would sit thru that? (21 mths) from long time ago memory, you go round in lift chairs don't you?
Should someone decide on the alternate plan then? a vote maybe?

clary · 01/08/2005 11:44

hmm serah we did tales of RH the other week (for work) and I wdn?t rec it for under 5s...my 4yo hated it (?can we get off now mummy??) and the 6yo wasn?t keen either (he?s a bit nervous tho), it?s very noisy and all underground. Plus it?s a bit dear and only lasts an hour or so.
Sorry, not wishign to pour cold water on yr helpful idea . Actually think the castle museum itself might be better if it rains, it?s free iirc and there are a few amusing things to do.

fairydust · 01/08/2005 22:14

I say - we all meet at the castle regardless of the weather - then if it is/does rain we go round the museum and have a coffe in the cafe

Those going by train - what time are you all planning on arriving at the station? Hoping to meet up and walk over there with someone!
