Having just left all the boxes stacked up in my new house, I am now sat in Starbucks as internet doesn't come till Saturday.
DD is in her new nursery and even though it is killing me when she screams when I leave, I know it's for the best.
So I'm here, in Harrogate, relocated from the big smoke to this lovely town and I don't have 1 friend here .
I welcome all responses from mums (or dads) that would like to offer me words of advice on where to go and what to do with 22month year old in and around Harrogate.

I can make it by 11.15ish, but if you're all around the playgroud, will be able to find you (now I know who I'm looking for!)

percypiggie · 30/04/2008 15:22

Should i just accost groups of women too until i find the right ones or is there a secret handshake?

madm00se · 30/04/2008 19:34

I can still do the 16th-if anyone else wants to?

mistlethrush · 12/05/2008 16:00

We're still free on Friday too. 11.15ish again? Anyone else coming?

madm00se · 13/05/2008 08:06

Oh shoot, I've just realised I've got a dentist appointment at 1 in Rawdon, so will be pushing it!! I'll have to cancel I'm sooo sorry mistlethrush & (at myself for being so disorganised). Although I'm not working tomorrow-I know it's short notice but if anyone can pop along-let me know time. Otherwise I can do next friday? Anyone?

sallyforth · 13/05/2008 15:14

Busy tomorrow I'm afraid.

But I am definitely free on Fri 23rd.

This coming Friday, we might not be able to come - it depends if DS is ok following his jabs the previous afternoon. Last time he was a bit febrile. So it'll be a bit of a last-minute decision - sorry.

mistlethrush · 13/05/2008 20:58

Don't worry - something come up that I need to get back to in Leeds, so not a problem.

When are we going to have an evening non-child event? Not for the next 2 weeks... but after then?

sallyforth · 14/05/2008 03:47

re evenings - Mons, Fris good for me. But could prob wangle other days with enough notice, esp if venue my side of Harrogate (I'm still rooting for Scotts Arms at Sicklinghall).

Might have to bring ds along. He is only 3 months so won't be any trouble

percypiggie · 15/05/2008 07:17

Currently surrounded by unpacked boxes and chaos but finally got my email up and running, and had my first appointment with the midwife 2 days after arriving in Harrogate. No point messing about at this stage, have even managed to gatecrash the maternity unit tour at the hospital tonight afetr much pleading. We are still very keen to go to Valley gardens tomorrow as will go stir crazy if nothing planned. Will be there about 11ish and hope to see some friendly faces. Everyone I have met so far has been very friendly. It is obviously the yorkshire hospitality

Have moved to devonshire place which is near the Empress roundabout so very handy to walk into town (if not wet). Am going to investigate kidzplay this morning as DS feeling a bit homesick and missing his friends, as a result his constant whingeing beginning to wear a bit thin !!!!

Hope to meet some of you tomorrow. I will be the very rotund, short blonde one.

sallyforth · 15/05/2008 16:41

Well ds had his injections today and isn't too happy at the moment... am hoping he will settle down soon.

percypiggie - just wanted to say hi in case we don't make it to the Valley Gardens tomorrow. Welcome to Yorkshire

pennytee - guess what! Have only gone and ordered a second wrap-style baby carrier in a different colour and fabric (blue and white stripes this time). Am v excited! Now I can wash one and wear one......

mistlethrush · 15/05/2008 18:55

Percypiggy I think I'm going to have to appologise and pull out tomorrow - had a paracetamol trial at hospital that didn't go particularly well and feel rather rough as a result... I hope that someone else can come - but I'm sure that we'll meet up soon. Anyone for next week? I'm sure I'll feel better then.

Gateau · 19/05/2008 09:02

Percypiggie,
I live in Devonshire Place too! How are you finding it? Hope to meet you soon.
I so far haven't been able to make the Friday meet-ups as am otherwise occupied on Fri mornings until about 11.30.
What time are you generally all there until? If it's after 11.30, I'll try to make it along at some point. Would be nice to meet you all. Can't do this Fri though, so will probably be the one after.

madm00se · 19/05/2008 10:36

Hi all, I can do this Friday-23rd-swimming until 10-so will be there from 10.30-ish. Hope to see you all.

mistlethrush · 19/05/2008 12:33

I can't get there until 11.15ish (swimming) - so can be there if a meet-up is in order...

Percyp hope the unpacking is going OK - you on for Friday?

sallyforth · 20/05/2008 17:05

I am coming this Friday!

mistlethrush · 20/05/2008 23:03

OK - I'll definitely be there then.

See you 11.15ish at the playground at Valley Gardens.

percypiggie · 21/05/2008 16:55

Unfortunately I can't make this friday, but if anyone is free other days that would be lovely.

Gateau - what a coincidence. We are next to the Indian. Very good takeaways. It would be great to meet up.

Unpacking is going quite well, only 3 weeks to go until no.2 arrives, so a bit of added pressure. Went to visit the hospital last week. Seems very nice, but would be interested to hear any opinions from those who have delivered there.

Hope the weather is better for you all this friday.

madm00se · 22/05/2008 14:51

percypiggie I'm presuming you're booked in at Harrogate Hospital?

If so, then I can recommend it. They were great with us-if a little understaffed I have to admit (although I can't really remember much of that side of things!!) All the staff were great, although I didn't like the midwife who was with me initially (just clash of personalities-nothing else!) Although thankfully I was there over the shift change in the a.m, and I got a LOVELY midwife & trainee midwife aswell-they were both lovely-Jo & Shannon (I think-an irish girl!). After Niamh was born, she had to be rushed to SCBU & me into theatre to have my placenta manually removed (sorry if TMI!!) & poor DH was just left standing there with no baby & no wife-so they told sorry no ORDERED him to go and get something to eat before he fainted-long time from when we last ate (tea-time the prev night) and then after 5 hrs we could go & see Niamh (nothing seriously wrong)-but we were in hospital 5 7 days in total. All the staff were great, and virtually ALL my friends have had their babies there (even though we're not in Harrogate). I can't praise their care enoough-hope this puts your mind at ease? Sorry you can't make it tomorrow, hope to see you soon? Everyone else-I'll be there!! (Everyone groans-oh no!!).x.

mistlethrush · 22/05/2008 19:58

Well it sounds as though there should be at least 3 of us then...
