New to Harrogate!

Having just left all the boxes stacked up in my new house, I am now sat in Starbucks as internet doesn't come till Saturday.
DD is in her new nursery and even though it is killing me when she screams when I leave, I know it's for the best.
So I'm here, in Harrogate, relocated from the big smoke to this lovely town and I don't have 1 friend here .
I welcome all responses from mums (or dads) that would like to offer me words of advice on where to go and what to do with 22month year old in and around Harrogate.

Is it 9.30 by the statue (which is fairly close to the magnesia well cafe in case of rubbish weather!) then?

If so, I shall see you there. I have dark curly hair, and will have 5 yr old dd with me.
I think there is a pic of us both on the pictures in my profile

mistlethrush · 28/03/2008 19:55

Hurrah for 3 hardy, northern mnetters and their offspring!

Lovely to meet you today - yes, definitely up for it again. Will be starting swimming in Harrogate in 2 weeks time, so likely to be available from about 11.15ish most Friday mornings for something.

bettythebuilder · 28/03/2008 22:37

Oh. marvellous! Friday mornings it is then
Great to meet you both, mistlethrush and pennytee, and your lovely little ones. Although we must have looked like mad women pushing our children on the swings in a deserted, rain soaked play area, dd and I had a lovely morning-although dd is still asking how we went to meet people that we don't know...("but how did we know they'd be there, Mummy?..")

pennytee · 29/03/2008 21:43

Friday mornings is a good one for me. Even if it is pouring DD has a runny nose today, so feel abit quilty but she was very cahtty on our return so I know she had a lovely time.

Thanks guys for not allowing me to be too lonely in Harrogate.

Keep me posted.

I've had a trial run on last Friday - can be available from about 11.15/11.30... Might even be able to do a picnic in Valley Gardens later on when the weather is a bit better... Any suggested Fridays?

pennytee · 16/04/2008 11:40

Hi Mistlethrush , I am around on Friday should you fancy meeting, hopefully this random weather will clear up, enough for us not to soak our kids!Meet in Valley Gardens?

mistlethrush · 16/04/2008 13:14

That's good for me. Somewhere near the cafe again? Hopefully we can go for a bit of a better wander around this time too! And don't let me at the cakes, trying to be v. good. See you Friday.

pennytee · 17/04/2008 13:25

About 10am? Got an appointment first thing so will come straight there. Anyone else up for a meet in valley gardens, Harrogate?

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 17/04/2008 21:40

I can't make it until 11.15/11.20 ish (hope that you get this tonight!) - swimming earlier

pennytee · 18/04/2008 09:35

Hi there! Are you meeting next Fri as well? Can I come too?

mistlethrush · 20/04/2008 12:03

Sally, Penny and I thought we'd do it again in 2 or 3 weeks...? And, yes, certainly not an exclusive club!

bettythebuilder · 20/04/2008 21:23

Arggh, missed the updates to this thread!
Right, I have it on my watch list, I'd love to meet up

sallyforth · 21/04/2008 06:25

Yay! Can't do the 1st Fri in May, but am pretty flexible otherwise.

mistlethrush · 21/04/2008 09:58

Well, I could do this Friday, even though Penny and I suggested 2 or 3 weeks - otherwise looks like the 9th of May. I can make Valley Gardens by about 11.15 (after swimming) - hope the cafe will be sorted out by then. Penny and I had to resort to Betty's cafe at Harlow Carr

Gateau · 21/04/2008 10:00

Pigleto, does the playgroup in Christchurch on Fri afternoons have a waiting list? Or can you just pop in as and when?

Hi

Have just found this thread thanks to sallyforth-ignore my prev note about not being able to find the "New to Harrogate", I just clicked on your profile & found it!! Anyway, if anyone wants to meet for coffee on a friday a.m or the odd sat a.m/p.m let me know. I work half day saturdays, so am not able to do every sat a.m, but most fri's I can do early! Am on waiting list at Hydro for DD (2.5 yrs old) to have swimming lessons at 9 (or poss 9.15-can't remember!!). But let me know if anyone's interested. I love harrogate, used to go to scholl at St Aidan's, and originally from Norwood (nr Sun Inn for those of you in the know locally!!) Now I'd better book mark this thread cos if I don't, I won't find it again!!

Gateau · 22/04/2008 12:06

Hi madmoose, or anyone who is interested:
Is anyone free to meet up for a coffee this Saturday afternoon? That's the 26th.

madm00se · 22/04/2008 12:20

Hi Gateau,

There shouldn't be a problem as I'm not at work, nor in the a.m-should be, but on hol!! Yay!! For 2 weeks-Yay!! So let me know time & place.

sallyforth · 22/04/2008 15:22

Hi, I can do this Fri but not this Saturday ... mistlethrush do you still want to meet on the Fri?

Gateau · 23/04/2008 08:37

Hi madmoose -and anyone else who's interested,
The cafe in The Academy health club is a pretty good place to go with kids. The cafe has a nice laidback atmosphere - well, on the Saturday I was there it did anyway. There are two little inside play areas which parents can sit next to and have a coffee. And there is another play area outside.
I don't know about your DD but my DS (just turned one) is getting to the stage where he gets so bored sitting in a highchair. He's got bags of energy.
What do you think? If my suggestion doesn't suit, then I'm happy to oblige.

mistlethrush · 23/04/2008 09:07

Sally - Friday fine by me. 11.15 ish at the children's playground in the valley gardens?

pennytee · 23/04/2008 12:34

Yikes, nearly missed this.

I am around this Friday so can meet you guys.
