Having just left all the boxes stacked up in my new house, I am now sat in Starbucks as internet doesn't come till Saturday.
DD is in her new nursery and even though it is killing me when she screams when I leave, I know it's for the best.
So I'm here, in Harrogate, relocated from the big smoke to this lovely town and I don't have 1 friend here .
I welcome all responses from mums (or dads) that would like to offer me words of advice on where to go and what to do with 22month year old in and around Harrogate.

Hi pennytee, I tried emailing you but it bounces back?

When are you guys next meeting up?

mistlethrush · 23/04/2008 14:47

DrN Looks like this Friday morning, Valley Gardens at about 11.15 in the play area.

madm00se · 23/04/2008 16:56

Gateau are you able to meet on Friday, I can still make Sat afternoon. Hoping to be there 11.15ish!!

DrNortherner · 23/04/2008 17:26

Oh I don't have a child on Friday's - he's at school. I can't possibly hang around a play area without a child can I?

Will have to pass on this one. How about a mummy only one soon - wine and pasta?

mistlethrush · 23/04/2008 21:55

Dr N - yes you can! Don't let that put you off! I will be coming from the road that runs down the hill as you can park there without a parking disc and I don't know what dh has done with ours... I will be turning up there between 11.10 and 11.15 and you with therefore see someone rushing down the hill in a green gortex with wet hair dragging small ds, probably in a green coat down the pavement, aiming towards the playground. Should be easy to spot - try to intercept me on the way and you won't feel awkward once we get to the playground!

I'm on for a meal sometime (although, certainly at the moment, need to have somewhere that can do me a nice salad as trying to be good at the moment)

Hope to see a number of people on Friday...

madm00se · 24/04/2008 10:28

Mistlethrush, DrN and everyone else, hope to see you there-hope Niamh doesn't end falling asleep!! Have to try & get into town first to buy paid of sandles, I'm the one with a mini me double!! (but with blond hair-mini mean I mean!!)

pennytee · 24/04/2008 11:34

DrN, did somebody say wine? I heard it, I did!!

sallyforth · 24/04/2008 16:58

Hi everyone, am def hoping to come along on Fri, may be a bit late depending on transport, I will be the one with a small baby in a green wrap-style sling.

sallyforth · 24/04/2008 17:00

By the way if anyone sees this can you give directions for how to get to valley gardens playground/free parking area coming from the wetherby road direction? ta!

pennytee · 24/04/2008 18:10

Hi Sally,

If coming on the Wetherby road you need to then at the first roundabout next to the Stray take the first exit so the Stray is on you left hand side. Follow it till you reach the second roundabout. Then take the the third exit heading to the Montpellier Quarter. Once you get to Montpellier area (with the Galleries take the left and head to the roundabout opposite a large hotel (can not remember the name, I'm new!) Valley Gardens is then sign posted. Go round the roundabout and take the second exit then next Left, now you are on Valley Gardens so you can park along there if you have a disc. If not carry on up the hill and the Park is on you right hand side.

That is probably the worst set of directions ever . But head into the east side of the town centre and you should be fine. Hope I don't send you on a wild goose chase!!!!

Hi all, I had a lovely time today! it is nice to have some mum-mentors who can tell me all about what I have to look forward to in a couple of years time

Just remembered, when I said I met Gateau on a previous MN meetup, I did meet her but when I was telling you about her I got her mixed up with dook . Gateau is also v nice though! (hope she will not mind me talking about her like this!)

Gosh its confusing when everyone has a MN name AND a RL name!! (not that I can talk!)

mistlethrush · 25/04/2008 15:58

Ds managed about 5mins in the car before falling asleep - very heavily - managed to carry him in, remove coat and shoes, get him to have a wee and put him down and he's still asleep - too many hours of sleep missed at nursery earlier in the week!

So, when are we doing an evening meal?

(Child free of course!)

madm00se · 25/04/2008 20:31

sallyforth · 29/04/2008 12:03

Re evening meet up can I suggest the Scotts Arms pub at Sicklinghall - great food, nice atmosphere, no problems parking (or short taxi ride from harrogate if drinking!!)

I can't do this Friday a.m. but how about Friday 9th?

mistlethrush · 29/04/2008 12:17

I can't do Friday 9th - can do Friday 16th...

sallyforth · 29/04/2008 13:10
