Welcome to our new home Berrie, Zebedeedoodah, Oggsfrog and Binkleandflip.
Hope you all find your way here.

So we have a massive argument about whether we should clomp home again and drive in to town or go to the grotty, scummy village pub to wait for the next bus. We go into the pub dressed most innapropriatly and a woman at the bar looks me up and down and I tut loudly. I am so cross I refuse to have a drink so we sit in silence...then we sit in silence holding hands then I tell him I want to go home....

HollyBerrie · 21/12/2007 13:20

I say we should still go but drive in and he says am I sure I don't mind driving. I say no and begin to seethe inside as he is going to another 'do' the next day. When I get inside I order a taxi...it costs £22.
When we get there there is no time to go for a drink. I realise too late that this was the bit I was looking forward to and there is feck all point looking glam if you don't get to catch a glimpse of yourself from time to time looking not like a frumpy Mum but a sexy Minx.
Now the fact that we managed to get a table should tell you as much as you need to know about the restaurant. There were plastic dewdropped flowers on the table and one...yes one waiter. The food was miserable. We tried to make the best of it but I downed more than my share of the nasty litre of wine and by 9.30 I wanted to go home and I was not standing at the bloody bus stop in the freezing cold in my outfit that I had not wanted to spoil with a sensible coat, though I did have a coat...so I insisted on another taxi.
We must have wasted more than £80 on a crappy evening and to make it worse DH has already made a start on writing off tomorrow with his hangover when I'll be needing help with a Christmassy family evening at ours in the evening....
Moan over...sorry...thankyou for listening

HollyBerrie · 21/12/2007 13:21

What th Fook has happened to my spelling? Apologies...

LyraSilvertinsel · 21/12/2007 19:49

Berrie. Try again in the new year maybe?
Where's Binkle these last couple of days? (and Oggs these last couple of weeks?)

HollyBerrie · 21/12/2007 19:53

Don't know....

eggnoggsfrog · 21/12/2007 20:12

hello

Just a flying visit to say hello. Will have to catch up on the last few weeks when I get chance ( is it really that long?).

So sorry if you've been worried about me. I've not felt able to post for a while - I haven't been on the internet at all in fact for ages. I have been thinking about you all though, and am looking forward to next month. I've even booked the flight at last .

Will try and get back on here tomorrow as we go away on Sunday and I don't know when I'll next be able to get on.

LyraSilvertinsel · 21/12/2007 23:23

Hi Oggs, how are you, me old mucker? We've missed you!

HollyBerrie · 22/12/2007 06:54

Yipeeeeeee! Oggs! Hope you have a lovely Christmas and a very very happy new year.

I can't come on here when I feel bad either.

HollyBerrie · 22/12/2007 08:09

Door 22

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 14:40

Yikes, door 22 is scary!

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 19:17

Oggs, do you want me to tape the Maria Meets Joseph thing on Christmas Eve or will you have access to TV over Christmas? I think I'll tape it anyway then I can send it to you if you need it.

binklebells · 22/12/2007 19:27

Hi!!

Lyra, thanks for your card, it was indeed a love-lee suprise.

I was off to Take That again last night with dh and dd - another cracking night although dd fell asleep half way in then woke up as soon as the cold air hit her and was ready to play (at 11.30p.m.) It was silly to take her but I think dh wanted to do the whole 'family man' thing for the guy at the bank - they are big on those family values etc - sometimes I feel like I am in 'The Firm' and he is Tom Cruise (I wish) !

Anyway, it was a very good night but I am shattered. I have got to clean the oven before Xmas Eve. It isnt dirty however that didnt stop my dear MIL suggesting I borrow some of her industrial strength cleaner (she has holiday apartments) to give it the once over before cooking the Xmas dinner

So glad Oggs has popped back on - I cant believe we will soon be meeting up. Very excited!!

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 20:25

So you got free tickets via DH's bank? Hope they were good seats.
I saw a trailer for the next 'find a west end star' show on BBC1. I think they're looking for characters from Oliver Twist (one male, one female). Should be good.

binklebells · 22/12/2007 20:30

We were in RBS's corporate box.

Going to sound extremely spoilt I know but I have to say Monday night's seats were better - adjacent to the stage on the same level and no more than 15 ft away whereas the box was nearer the back and halfway up.

On the plus side there was free food and drink a-flowing so that was great but I think you have to be amongst the crowd to get the most out of the atmosphere if you know what I mean.

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 20:37

I think you need standing tickets to really appreciate a gig. you gotta get in there amoung all those sweaty bodies, dancing and jumping.
I had seated tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers last year and it was crap, sitting a clapping politely.

binklebells · 22/12/2007 20:40

Definately. Having dd sat snoring on my knee for the last hour kind of killed my vibe anyway but I did thoroughly enjoy it still.

So in terms of our London trip we are only a trifle more than a month away...

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 20:51

Getting nervous now. What will I wear? Are you all really mad axemen in real life

binklebells · 22/12/2007 20:59

Are we going to agree a mode of dress or just suprise each other?

Regarding if we are all in fact homicidal maniacs , I still think we're all pretty safe - the Adelphi isnt exactly deserted of an evening

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 21:02

I think smart but not too tarted up, ie nice dresses and shoes but no ballgowns .

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 21:05

A little bit here about the new show. They're looking for 3 Olivers and a Nancy. Which means the young men will be too young to ogle and the Nancy's will all be, well, women.

binklebells · 22/12/2007 21:07

Oh well that is no good then is it?

By the way, did you say the D word? As in Dress???

binklebells · 22/12/2007 21:10

To the January sales go I then, for a dress!

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 21:10

yes, dress...
Or skirt...
Or trousers if you like.
Go on then, jeans it is

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 21:11

I've got loads of dresses (mostly summer ones) but I can't get into most of them. Now if I could just lose a few pounds...

binklebells · 22/12/2007 21:13

Well, if you started serious good behaviour diet-wise on 1st Jan you could lose a few pounds by 30th..I am hoping to myself so we shall see.... if not, magic knickers it is..
