West London - October thread

My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

Steppie, brainy, me? Nah. I think I was in the right place at the right time.

QC - hope you feel better soon. A lot of kids and staff at DS's nursery have bad colds, it seems. Keep warm and drink plenty of liquid (preferably non-alcoholic!) and deffo an early night. Yes, you look more Ingrid Bergman than Julie Andrews.

SJ - dunno. This is driving me mad. She looks a bit like Kate Blachett... ooooh, I give up!

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 13:41

Sushi, what was the film she was in?

stepfordwife · 17/10/2007 13:46

naomi watts? she's nicole kidman's bessie mate. but she's blonde, not red-haired

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 13:47

I thought of her as well steppie, but like you said, she's blonde.... bugging me now, off to do a google search!

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 13:49

Ros, she was in this fantasy film a few years ago, and she was this ice queen character. Haven't seen the film myself but saw the actress doing an interview. She may not be a Kiwi. Any idea?

SJ99 · 17/10/2007 13:49

About to take DS for a walk, no sleep in cot today, he's been chatting/singing for nearly 1hr! Good exercise for me I suppose

Ros I'm free Thurs pm if you want to go for coffee or something (and anyone else)?

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 13:50

Tilda Swinton?

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 13:51

Oh, come to think of it, she may not be red-haired. More like platinum blonde.

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 13:51

The ice queen as in Narnia? That was Cate Blanchett.

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 13:52

here

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 13:52

YEEEES! Ros, I love you! Phew, now I can get back to work.

Paddlechick666 · 17/10/2007 13:53

funnily enough, i always think tesco have a better range of boys clothes than girls!

maybe it's my aversion to pink

altho, i have to admit to re-drawing the battle lines on pink dd looks so cute in pink and it makes her sooo happy to have something that is pink!

i knew this would happen but i was expecting it to be another year or so before she would become so colour blind.

or maybe i just have a girly girl on my hands.

Barbie will never come into my house tho. If she wants one or gets one it will have to live in the shed!

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 13:54

Sj, I'd love to try and meet up tomorrow. Shall we see what the weather's like & have a chat in the morning?

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 13:54

No Ros is right it was Tilda Swinton. Cate Blanchet was in Lord of the rings

stepfordwife · 17/10/2007 13:54

that's the one..
love her
she was fantastic as the white witch
yes, sushi, get some work done

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 13:59

OMG, is she British? And 46!? Wow, she's beautiful, isn't she? Don't you think foxie looks a bit like her?

OK, back to work.

Kewcumber · 17/10/2007 14:00

so sushi - you weanted to know the name of the NZ actress with the red hair who wasn't nicole kidman and the answer was someone who doesn't haev red hair and isn;t from NZ?

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 14:07

QC - I AM supposed to be working! Well, in my defence, I haven't seen any films recently - my last one was Ocean's 11!

Kewcumber · 17/10/2007 14:08

I drove past Richmond cinema a litttel while ago with my mum and she said "do you remember when you used to go to the cinema and the theatre?"

Answer of course was "No"

Fox... Bangalore. I gave up after 3 months, either back to britain or some serious therapy! I am not cut out for being on my own all the time! At least washing clothes gave my son some fun, splashing about with water in the bathrooms!

eleusis · 17/10/2007 15:48

Paddle,
You are a mum after my own heart. But, I too have had to concede to a pink wardrobe. But there shall be no barbie and no bratz. Forget it! Why are there no pink trains in the Thomas collection? It's actually the frilly component I can't stand.

Kew,
you wanted something from Kaz a while ago but I can't remember what it was. I'm off on Tuesday... BUT I'm going to the middle of nowhere so the chances are slim. But I thought I'd ask what it was in case I see it... was it a flag??? I'm going to Aktau which makes the outer hebrides look overpopulated.

Kewcumber · 17/10/2007 15:50

yes just a smlal hand held flag and any kaz coins you have left over. MIne for DS were in my purse which got lost

sfxmum · 17/10/2007 15:52

hello all

back from so much puddle jumping that we did not even make it to Kew Gardens dd needed a clothes change on the way there and on the way back we had to rush so she wouldn't freeze

Ros LOL at your dh although you have never seen women swarm all over a man until you see nuns do it - I would blush

foxie - thanks can't today too tired now but any other time which is ok with you maybe at weekend.

sushi Tilda Swinton is gorgeous been a fan since Orlando
the only actress I have ever been likened to was Kim Novak which I thought was very flattering

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 17:13

Hey all, just back from tha park and have the children sitting down to supper so thpught I would sneak a quick peek on here. Ds managed to fall of the climging frame and cut his etye lid top and bottom. Not major but I bet he will sprout a black eye by morning. He doesn't seem terribly bothered though. He is a tough nut, unlike his sister

slng · 17/10/2007 18:15

This thread moves fast ...

sfx - I didn't watch 2nd episode of spooks. I guess they are not going to kill of the entire population of Britain in the 2nd episode? The only story I know where that happens is Kalki by Gore Vidal but I'm very ignorant ...

Foxie - so what/who do you look like? I've got a picture on facebook, but will put one on here too just for fun!
