My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

foxensteinscreature · 23/10/2007 22:40

Hi everyone [waves]

Good luck tomorrow Paddle

Where is willowfarm then?

We're off to Brighton La, La, La

CovenOVeneer · 24/10/2007 08:49

Morning all. Sorry to hear about bf's mum paddle. Enjoy your trip to Brighton foxy. Looks like it is going to be another nice day, this weather is making half term so much easier. Not sure what we are up to today, but it will involve getting out into the fresh air, and probably some baking this afternoon whilst ds naps.

sfxmum · 24/10/2007 09:06

morning all

paddle so sorry about your bf mum.
hope you enjoy the course and it wasn't too stressful this morning

foxie - enjoy Brighton, you know they have a nice choc shop in the lanes

we will stay local today I think. will leave kew for after half term.

BF seems to be over but right time for us.
the only time she asked was when she woke up at 1am - 'no it's not finished it is very on' tears but only for a second.

rosmonster · 24/10/2007 09:21

Am wondering what to do today, can't do much this morning as we have someone coming to fix our roof at 11am so need to be back for then.

And the weather doesn't look as nice today...

foxensteinscreature · 24/10/2007 09:37

[big hugs] sfx - its quite upsetting ending BF - think of all the freedom thoug

Choc shops??? Get thee away Devil!!!

rosmonster · 24/10/2007 09:44

I love Brighton, we got my engagement ring from one of the jewellers in the lanes

sfxmum · 24/10/2007 09:52

many thanks foxie, was surprised by the pull especially since she has gone for days before without it

yes weather not as nice, I think we will amble over to the shops at some point and then maybe the playground

CovenOVeneer · 24/10/2007 10:07

Sorry guys, I guess me saying it looked like another nice day (which it did at the time) has jinxed the weather as it is now decidedly cloudy . Anyway, the children are happily playing at nursery in the playroom (with dd being a tad bossy, but ds is going along with it for now), and we will have a mammouth baking session this afternoon and possibly half an hour at the park. Am probably meeting MIL at Kew tomorrow (oh joy ), then my sister arrives friday morning for a weekend of utter chaos. Thank goodness dd has an inset day on Monday to recover. DD kept saying we had to check for nits on Monday, over and over, I couldn't work out what she was on about, until she said that was the reason they had the day of school becuase it was an "insect" day

foxensteinscreature · 24/10/2007 10:23

sfx I cried both times I gave up. I deffo want DS2 to continue for as long as he'll let me

sfxmum · 24/10/2007 10:24

cov@dd

nevermind about the weather at least it is not raining...yet

CovenOVeneer · 24/10/2007 10:49

Damn it. The bin men came today and for some reason have choosen to ignore my bin. Can you phone them and get them to come out specifically to do one bin? As we have guests this weekend there is no way I can wait another week to have it emptied.

demonaid · 24/10/2007 11:40

Someone once told me it's more effective to phone up and pretend to be your neighbour (or get your neighbour to actually do it) and complain, possibly mentioning that you thought you saw a rat... You could alwyas do both, I suppose.

rosmonster · 24/10/2007 11:40

Cov, I think it depends on the council but I've had them come round and pick it up later! Tbh, it was because I'd forgotten to put it out but I blamed the binmen and it worked

Been to the park this morning which was deserted. Ds enjoyed chasing the pigeons for about 20mins though.

stepfordwife · 24/10/2007 12:52

hi everyone
how you all diddling?
so sorry to hear about your friend's ma, paddle. there's no easy way through these things.

foxie, you're probably in brighton by now. enjoy!
even harder forcing myself to work today as little fellas on half-term and dh off too. feels like should be playing, not working/shirking.
not even a glimpse at my bank balance is motivating me
never mind foxie's famous lookalike career..flicking through closer mag yesterday, dd grabbed pic of geri halliwell with her daughter bluebell - dd is convinced bluebell is a picture of her!

stepfordwife · 24/10/2007 12:52

...delusional, just like her mother

Kewcumber · 24/10/2007 13:20

sorry about BF's motehr Paddle - sadly the husband of a friend died last night - heart attack in his late 40's She's the one in Pensford who has the number of the cleaning agency I'd asked for Foxie - so won't be nagging her for it again for a while.

He was a cardiologist too and had heart attack in work but nothing could be done.

Hi all

Sorry to hear about bf's mum Paddle and your friend's husband Kew

Enjoy Brighton Foxie, don't eat too much rock, you'll ruin your filmstar smile

We went to the park this morning. I overheard a woman speaking swedish to her kids so I started chatting to her. Turns out she was from Stockholm and her 4yr old son was born in the same hospital as DS, small world! He then befriended DS and they walked round the park hand in hand. He took him on the roundabout and slides, so sweet!

rosmonster · 24/10/2007 14:17

Sorry to hear about your friend's dh Kew

Sj, its so sweet when they make a friend like that!

SJ99 · 24/10/2007 14:29

Yes maybe they had a special bond or something both being Swedes born nearly 2yrs apart to the day in the same place

rosmonster · 24/10/2007 14:31

Right ds is awake so best go get him. Think we'll have an indoor afternoon today, I'm feeling lazy!

If anyone's at a loose end, you're more than welcome to join me!

SJ99 · 24/10/2007 14:40

I was going to stay in this afternoon too, also feeling lazy . I'll see what mood DS is in when he wakes up, if he's not too sleepy head (he played a lot in the park this morning) then we'll pop over. Do I get the 267 bus, which stop?

stepfordwife · 24/10/2007 15:04

so sorry about your friend's dh, kew. how ironic he was at work when it happened. has your friend got family nearby?

sj - that's really sweet. are you from stockholm?

dh gone to pick dd up from CM and then take brood swimming.
thinking of going to my ma's for a few days so ds1 and ds2 can tick the"sleepover" box on their half-term activities

ho-hum, better do some more work. what i really feel like doing is lying on the bed reading and eating chocolate. sigh...

CovenOVeneer · 24/10/2007 15:19

Right house is up and ready for visitors. DD and ds have been angels today helping with housework and playing nicely. We managed an hour at the park but it is rahter grey and cold. When ds wakes up we have to head out to get the shopping then a baking evening ahead for dd and me. SHe has decided we must make 2 types of biscuit (chop chip and gingerbread) a chocolate fudge cake and a banana loaf. I also need to make a couple of quiches, so I doubt I will get much chance to sit down tonight.
