My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

naughties

foxensteinscreature · 22/10/2007 14:27

Paddle- thanks for that link - have put my details in there.

Glad you are busy trying to find our next lodger!! We'll be sorry to see your friend go, he is such a sweetie

foxensteinscreature · 22/10/2007 14:28

Padle "furtive and quickies" or "infrequents" would probably be more accurate atm

sfxmum · 22/10/2007 14:40

well I mentioned the cold water business just to see how far he would gohe has bought some grapefruit juice and has been drinking it everyday - not so keen on holding off till eggy moment

dd's new sport is throwing herself off the sofa onto a pillow below, she has missed a few times and has told me she has 'terrible injuries'

and btw yesterday she was threatening to go for a walk with foxie as we weren't obliging

Paddlechick666 · 22/10/2007 14:47

non-feckin-existant in my case foxie!

sfx, hope you're feeling better now. lol @ minisfx.

was at kew retail yesterday picking up some bits n bobs. met my ex-house-guest/foxie's lodger for a coffee in M&S.

dd happily running around "hiding" in all the clothes - who knew M&S was such a fabulous play area? lol.

anyways, dd plonks a pink check sixties style cap on her head as filched from the kids dept and is running around having a mighty fine time.

all of a sudden she comes across a model display on the edge of the kids dept by the cafe. stands fetchingly in front and starts ernestly chatting to the models which in itself was funny enough.

coup de grace came when she reached out to touch one of the model's hands and it fell off! dd completely unfazed, me and friend in absolute shoulder shaking, tear inducing laughter as were about 5 people around us who witnessed it!

am still when i think of it!

foxensteinscreature · 22/10/2007 14:57

sfx the river was lovely yesteday - next time I will have to call for minisfx on my way through. She can tell me all about her "terrible injuries" in between chats about the current Prime Minister!!

Your poor DH!! Tell him ou will make it worth his while if he waits until the eggy moment (i.e. by being too tired for sex for the next 9 months ). Or tell him the anticipation is better than the actual act, so the longer he waits the better!!

Paddle R U shirking from home today too then?

LOL a your DD vandalising the display in M&S!!! What did she do with the dismembered (love that word) hand?

CovenOVeneer · 22/10/2007 15:14

Right that is it. I have decided once lo's are back at nursery/school next week I am culling the playroom. These children have way too many toys and treat them appallingly . There are so many damaged/broken toys bits missing, baxes flattened beyond use, not to mention ds's graffiti habit. I am seriously ashamed by my children's sheer lack of respect for their belongins .

sfxmum · 22/10/2007 15:37

LOL at dd paddle and the staff are so understanding! dd is keen on switching labels

foxie - don't think the 9 months are a problem but the newborn bit oh dear zombies ahoy!

my trusty go everywhere boots have finally fallen apart so I need to buy new ones - a terrible predicament as you will appreciate -
am thinking I need some sturdy Doc Martens Chelsea type

cov - maybe I set a bad example but I never buy toys which I want dd to keep in one piece destructo girl soon picks them apart, and as for grafiti art well she is getting better at doing it on paper.

rosmonster · 22/10/2007 17:47

Been swimming this afternoon which ds loved, pool was practically empty which was nice!

Lol at minisfx & minipaddle!

SJ99 · 22/10/2007 19:17

at min sfx & mini paddle

Lucky you Ros, I thought pool might be packed with it being half term. I have booked some swimming lessons for DS starting next mth. How was your shopping expedition?

Have also booked a visit to pre-school later this week to suss out our options.

Cov - too bad about the toys, hope you can salvage some good stuff. DS played very nicely with an empty wine box he found in the kitchen this afternoon pretending it was a garage, he kept putting his cars in it and then taking them out, hours of entertainment guaranteed

PC - are you around this week so I can drop mac off? Let me know when suits

Kewcumber · 22/10/2007 19:58

was someone offering sex earlier? Where do I sign up? Have had such a hacking cough all weekend that DS has developed a nice line in fake coughs which he is now practising in hs cot And before anyone thinks I am such a bad mother and they might be real coughs, he is trying out various tone and pitches (obviously trying to decide which is most effective).

had his first full on toddler tantrum this evening lying on floor kicking heels (with force) - bad mum here laughed! It was obviously tiredness though, doubt I'll think its so funny if he tries it in M&S.

demonaid · 22/10/2007 20:18

DS has just expanded his vocabluary to include "I don't know and I. DON'T. CARE."

sfxmum · 22/10/2007 20:59

just had an interesting experience with dd at bedtime.

she has been self weaning and mostly goes without bf but occasionally asks at bedtime, doesn't take much at all, and asks if wakes during the night.

during the past few days have been telling her it is nearly finished as she is a big girl now
(mostly so she does not feel she needs it to go back to sleep during the night)

today was the day so she was in her bed after story lights out then she asks for 'boobie milk' I said no it is finished now
-cue tears but appeased with tissue and water
-head on pillow bit tearful saying boobie milk still on

  • then did not accept comfort pat 'don't touch' also don't touch my bed
  • thumb sucking turn back on me soon asleep

KC dd does that fake cough too mostly when out to get sympathy from strangers along with the line 'I have got a terrible cough'

foxensteinscreature · 22/10/2007 22:35

Like the name "Demonaid"

Yingers74 · 22/10/2007 23:57

LOL, couldn't stay away! No doubt will be as crap as before but thought I would have a nose around to see what everyone is up to. Am on my second week of half-term and am knackered, have completely fotgotten how to entertain two children at once during the day!

Have also been to a school reunion which was simultaneously huge fun yet highly unsettling! Am torn between wanting to do it again and running screaming to the other side of the world! Bl00dy facebook has a lot to answer for!

dd2 is turning 2 tomorrow and has enjoyed 3 birthday cakes over the weekend, I am also caked up and bouncing off the walls! off to bed now.

Paddlechick666 · 23/10/2007 07:57

morning all

well, i am wondering what to do today. library adn park this morning probably and kew this arvo i expect.

anyone around?

off on my course tomorrow and feeling pretty stressed about it.

have to pack for me and dd and drop her at CM at 7:30am then get to farnborough for 9am looking half way presentable. crack of dawn start for me tomorrow i think!

i tempted fate by saying dd rarely gets a cough with her colds and now she's hacking away!

hope she'll be okay with my mum.......

sfx, that must've pulled the heartstrings. i miss bf dd but am glad she self weaned before she was old enough to really "ask" for it.

yingers, my dd is 2 on Friday and will be having about 3 parties at this rate i think! just hope i get home in time on Friday evening to see her before bed. must wrap her presents tonight too. am also hoping i can get her a balloon to bring home with me.

sj, i'm around today and saturday then back monday arvo so whenever suits you....

Paddlechick666 · 23/10/2007 07:58

correction, i'm not really around on saturday as am cooking for family party and collecting big crazy sis from heathrow then off to mums.

sfxmum · 23/10/2007 09:41

morning all

hi Yingers, I have put a limit on MN & FB mostly because I miss reading and really need to get on with it, my reading list for this year is disgracefully short.

paddle - we had minor drama during night post another request but this morning she told her dad 'B milk is finished now'
I hope this eventually means she will go back to mostly sleeping through the night

best of luck with the course

like demonaid too funny I did not read it as such at first - the brain does asssume.

sfxmum · 23/10/2007 09:42

oh yes and I hope to leave the house for the first time since friday so might see you at Kew later

Paddlechick666 · 23/10/2007 09:47

sfx, i'll text you when we get to kew.

dd is being quite demanding today. i know it's probably my own stress levels but i so want to have a lovely day with her today as i won't see her till friday.

house issues are pressing in again.

heading for the looney bin i feel.......

Yingers74 · 23/10/2007 10:08

paddle - happy birthday to dd2 for Friday, I hope she has a lovely day. Am taking her to willow farm today which looks good.

sfx - i know what you mean about reading, am an avid reader myself but to my horror have not read a thing in a while and my reading group seems to have died a death! Am also trying not to go on facebook esp as it is a time killer/stealer! But we shall see how that pans out.........

Paddlechick666 · 23/10/2007 10:19

yingers, happy birthday to your dd for today!

what's willow farm then?

really must get off MN and FB and get our butts out the door!

sfxmum · 23/10/2007 11:15

I have a question about ready beds please

  • are they adequate? so far we have used a borrowed travel cot and during summer camping a sleeping bag. but we are off to in-laws for Christmas and cot is too small
  • so is it worth getting one? does it need additional bedding? TIA

am being planning girl

Paddlechick666 · 23/10/2007 11:20

ready beds are great, you can get them quite reasonably in Argos. no extra bedding required.

sfxmum · 23/10/2007 11:40

and what are you, young lady, doing here? still home?

thanks
