For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/10/2007 16:49

useful skill I guess also have a good idea of how clothes should be cut, made and finished, was around that trade for most of my childhood.

but I have really low standards these days.

today I am mostly obsessing about babiesprobably should have not set time limit on conception 'or else'.

maybe we can extended it beyond the end of the year, maybe

lemonaid · 01/10/2007 16:51

You need your DH to book himself on a treak to Everest base camp getting back two weeks before (what would be) your due date, sfx. Worked for me...

sfxmum · 01/10/2007 17:10

you clearly do not know my dh

he can't understand why I jog, he rides a bike to and from work but exercise for it's sake is alien to him.
not to mention the cold, he hates it, and to think he was born in Edinburgh of Scottish and Irish parentage I on the other hand born in Africa growing up in sub tropical island quite like the cold, but I digress

stepfordwife · 01/10/2007 17:30

dear god, i'm somewhat perturbed at the, shudder, domestic "handy" tone of this thread since a few words of praise for the gherkin's (very nice) jumper..

get off to the WI with thee

and kew, sorry but not sure i can let you off with embroidering a silk horseshoe...

foxie, saw you driving off to school. you ignored me. i was the pleb in her dh's cagoul.

paddle, lol at dd. they are twins separated at birth! my dd frequently demands LUNCH! not as frequently as she demands "nack" which is snack.

must dash...ds1 has just helpfully reminded me to make dinner and that we've got homework to do...

So, no one interested in meeting up this weekend?

I guess I'll have to go find some RL friends.

ComeOVeneer · 01/10/2007 18:09

Ele I would love to but dd has a b'day party all of SAturday afternoon, and I have relented and told dh we can make it to jhis parents on Sunday after all.

sfxmum · 01/10/2007 18:11

Ele I hear your favourite president is running for prime minister! shock horror surely not

Kewcumber · 01/10/2007 19:41

Eleusis meeting up at weekend might be a possibility for me but am being a bit disorganised at the moment and can't think what else (if anything!) I'm supposed to be doing!

MrsRecycle · 01/10/2007 20:34

"oh gosh go away for a few days and it's all talk of knitting and bridge" says she who has just been slaving away at a hot sewing machine with dds mouths agape!! And then talking to dh about me going to scrapbooking and he replies "thats what old ladies do!"

Don't worry about the money KC - I'll only spend it on ebay!

Talking of ebay - pc did you win the cot duvet? If not I have a spare one that you can have.

steppie - am impressed with you taking all and sundry on the tube. I think I would have been a shouty mum at the end of it as well (especially with a hangover!).

ele - if dh is working this saturday might be up for a playdate. If he isn't working, I'm going to get him help me sort out my office for me. I'll let you know later on in the week.

eleusis · 01/10/2007 20:40

SFX, Yes I saw that in the news as well. Nothing would surrise me. For those who are having trouble working out who my fav pres is, 'til the lovely (not!) Putin to whom we refer.

Hi Mrs. R, haven't seen you in the flesh for ages. Keep me posted. Kew, let me know when you get yourself organised?

MrsRecycle · 01/10/2007 20:53

should hope never ele!!

foxcub · 01/10/2007 21:10

Ele we might be around Saturday

Steppy - I didn't spot you but did spot you later on the A316 faffing with buggy in the rain

Kew "shit hot" embroiderer - contradiction of terms there innit?

eleusis · 01/10/2007 21:27

That would be nice, Foxie. Haven't seen you in ages.

foxcub · 01/10/2007 22:25

Shall I come and see you

I'm free all day but not very good first thing in the morning (still takes me over an hour to get the kids out of the house)

stepfordwife · 01/10/2007 22:46

hellooooooo

foxie, good luck for first "proper" day in office tomorrow. ...
one of the mums at school went to paris for work last week, another one to barcelona. ds1 piped up:"my mummy goes to work in the loft."

yes, "faffing about in the rain with a buggy", that'll be me. you didn't have to splash me, though...

mrs r...and to think i reckoned a small outing on the tube would be the softer option over a party!
yes, i was very annoyed with myself about the hangover - but didn't drink much (honest, guv) - but am such an amateur these days.

quokka - nice to hear from you, btw. how's sing? dh is over there before heading for mumbai next week. don't panic, won't send him to track you down!
my mil is heading over from perth at end of november and staying for 3 months...think she's trying to miss the summer?!

ele et al, may be around sat afternoon, if ds1 hasn't got a party (it's either this weekend or next)
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 01/10/2007 22:47

...it was ds2, actually....

foxcub · 01/10/2007 22:55

LOL at My mummy goes to work in the loft - you should train him to say "loft apartment"

stepfordwife · 01/10/2007 23:01

i know, foxie, it did start off as my "manhattan-style loft space" but, now, "loft" it is

eleusis · 02/10/2007 09:27

Mornin everyone. So what shall we do on Saturday? Or is Sunday better?

sfxmum · 02/10/2007 10:02

good morning all

steppi I hear sheds are very fashionable home offices these days, although I guess not the ones from Argos

foxie - enjoy office I expect you will be mostly opening pressies and eating cake

I have a sore throat and I hate.
must fit in jumping in muddy puddles at some point dd wants her wellies dirty

sfxmum · 02/10/2007 10:04

btw re weekend meet up

usually we get 'family' time unless one of us wants time alone or dh found a father daughter activity or he visits his friends, no idea what's up this week end

ComeOVeneer · 02/10/2007 10:19

Morning all. A better night here, ds is on the mend, still full of cold but slept through and very chirpy this morning, so he went to nursery to cough and splutter with the rest of the class.

LOL at the loft comment. DS is insistent (sp) that dh spends the day at the station as we drop him there in the morning, despite being told over and over that daddy gets on a train and goes to work. Mind you after attending the first halloween party at dh's office dd thought that he spent his day having his face painted, handling snakes and spiders, doing aall manner of arts and crafts in the huge board room and sitting down to a spooky feast in a Harry Potter styledinning room

rosmerta · 02/10/2007 10:53

hi all, woke up with a stinking cold this morning and am feeling a bit sorry for myself!

Don't think I'm around this weekend, am helping out at an NCT nearly new sale on Saturday and think we'll have 'family' day on Sunday but I'll let you know.

Btw, if anyone wants anything 2nd-hand baby-related let me know and I'll see if I can pick it up on Sat, I think if I'm helping out then I get first pick!

Yingers74 · 02/10/2007 13:37

I have always been pretty rubbish at keeping up with all the posts on here but things are going to get worse now strictly is about to return to our screens!!!! I love it! Facebook is also taking up too much of my time although my friends on it would say I am pretty lousy at posting on that too!

Ros - hope your cold gets better, just about over one myself - thank goodness!

cov - that halloween party sounds cool!

slng · 02/10/2007 14:00

Rosmerta - which NCT nearly new sale are you doing? Do you want to sell a changing table? We've got one in the shed which I've been trying to get rid of. Meant to take a picture of it before advertising, but have not got round to it. Anyone interested? Free to collector! It's an Ikea folding one, not on sale anymore, slightly wobbly but perfectly safe ... A bit like one of those folding chairs people take along in art galleries to sit on, but bigger.
