foxcub · 15/08/2007 23:35

2cute have you got my new moby no?

mellow2 · 16/08/2007 10:00

Hello,
It's quiet on here.

SJ,
The body butter is suitable for all skin types and it absorbs easily so it should be okay for normal skin.

Foxie,
Do you mean the body wash? I don't have a bath oil.

mellow2 · 16/08/2007 10:01

MrsR,
Enjoy Disneyland.

I'm everyone is going on holiday.

foxcub · 16/08/2007 10:02

I'm around - yes mellow I meant the body wash!

Still trying to get the DCs up so I can take DS1 out on his bike....ho hum

sfxmum · 16/08/2007 10:07

hi everyone

decided against going to town and sorting out stuff in favour of a walk around kew.
dd seems better, despite seal like cough, we could do with some fresh air.

mrsR - have a great time.

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 10:09

Morning all.

QC, the story of the little girl in hospital is breaking my heart. Hope your mum's result will be all clear.

Do you think our DS will have posh Kew accent?

mellow2 · 16/08/2007 10:50

Body wash is £12 retail.

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 11:10

Sushi - I said to my mum last week that DS is going to challenge everyone perceptions as he is going to look central asian (which confuses most people as he doesn't look like any identifiable asian/oriental race they know) but he's probably going to have a kew accent!

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 11:24

A mysterious boy! Bet he's going to be v popular, especially with girls! Talking of central asian faces, having looked at some of the pictures in your blog, most people (apart from you and your mum, of course) look positively European to me. They are really quite mixed, aren't they? How very interesting!

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 11:32

Oh, I meant the staff at the baby-house in Kazakhstan looking positively European (well, more so than your DS). Sorry if it's not very clear.

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 11:53

most of the carers in the sickbay were russina ethnic. Ust Kamenogorsk has a ghihg proportion of russian ethnic people(about 50%) because its so close to Russia. In Kaz generally the ethnic mix if about 50% kazakh ethnic, 30% Russian and 20% various others (german korean and ukranian being biggest groups) and mixed race.

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 12:04

Suppose these Germans and Koreans are from the East and the North, respectively?

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 12:26

they were moved as part of Stalins policies so are all over the place. The ukranians and germans were moved to try to farm the central Steppe (not such a good plan on the whole as it turned out - baking in summer and freezing in winter!)

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 12:28

Koreans:

"In the late 19th and early 20th century, the forebears of today?s koryo saram emigrated from the peninsula to the Russian Far East, some of them in order to wage guerilla warfare against Japanese colonial forces in Korea. Ironically then, in 1937, Stalin deported all of these settlers?approximately 200,000?to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, on the official premise that the Koreans might act as spies for Japan. "

Yingers74 · 16/08/2007 13:42

2cute, even after some thought I have no idea what the rabbi was on about, maybe he thought he would try something different other than talking about committment and love!

My top tips on weight loss, take up yoga and just drink water. i have lost a stone over the last 3 months and have not changed my eating habits! Now that I am sure I am not having anymore kiddies, felt it was time to return to my pre marriage weight!

Yingers74 · 16/08/2007 13:47

Kew - your little ds is soo cute! And I bet you get asked lots of questions, my dd1 looks very european and I used to get asked allsorts in regards to her heritage.

And one final word of Keanu Reeves, yes he is a pretty boy but still.........such a man!

Yingers74 · 16/08/2007 13:50

mellow - just took a look at your website, very impressive!

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 14:03

QC, thanks for the lecture on Kazakh/Communist history. Had no idea about the Koreans and feel terrible for them as a Japanese national.

Yingers, can you put some pics of your DDs? My DS looks v oriental.

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 14:28

what I've noticed is that I distinguish differences in asian and oriental races much more since having DS. When I say to (white) people (about his ethnicity) - he is central asian but he does have a very caucasian head shape and brown hair so he may have some Russian in him too, they look at me like I'm mad. They just see "asian".

Did you enjoy the lecture on the Kazakh Koreans then Sushi? I'm such a geek I can;t help spreading my geekiness around...

Kewcumber · 16/08/2007 14:31

if we getting into feeling sorry for colonial pasts, though of us with English heritage might have a little to atone for too! Mind you being half Welsh and half English, half of me occupied the other half quite brutally for a time so I forced myself to make an apology to myself.

Yingers74 · 16/08/2007 15:04

sushi, will do so as soon as I work out how to do it! Am a bit of a techno dummy! Alternatively, if you email me your email address, will email you a photo!!!

Kew - geek is the new cool!

SushiMummy · 16/08/2007 15:05

I probably know half as much of Japanese history that you know of Kazakh history. Your DS will be very proud of you in the future, QC. Right, where's my Japanese history book, then? (Having said that, Japanese history books don't tell you anything, especially what we did to Chinese/Koreans during the war. Shame!)

So who's going to start a new West London meet-up thread, then?

Or is there one already?[panic emoticon]
