Kew - your cleaner just rang me - she said she got back last night and her DH is coming round tomorrow

Does he do electrics? I can ask him tomorrow sfx

lemonaid · 22/06/2007 20:28

We've used DV Melvin & Sons, 020 8788 4354, and always been happy (not needed them for a few years now, though). They are based in Putney so may not be so convenient for you.

sfxmum · 22/06/2007 21:05

thank you ladies i rather go by word of mouth/ recommendation and not necessarily the cheapest in the book
i need to sort it out it is a fortune in light bulbs

dh working weekend so will try and do something with dd tomorrow weather permitting, maybe go to the pool.
dd would be happy just go hunting for snails i think

sfxmum · 22/06/2007 21:08

oh dear the bum thread is up again dare not look

lemonaid you made it to the talk round up this week

Kewcumber · 23/06/2007 09:47

I'm going to motehrcare cafe aound 10.30 but no mobile phone still if anyone wants to join me. Have to get his feet measured and may have to resort to full price shoes

sfxmum · 23/06/2007 09:51

kew dd had her feet measured last week, but the first time it came out as 7.1/2 i thought it odd since her size 6 seems fine. went back later in the week and was told she is coming up to 6.1/2
it's quite hard to get dd to try shoes on as it is, also they have a sale on
i think the blond girls is quite good had never seen the other one before

Kewcumber · 23/06/2007 13:12

DS needs a 4.5 apparently (he's currently in a 3.5 ) and is an F but they "recommend" a G fitting because he has a high instep (?!). Bollocks to that they hada 4.5F in the sale for £10 so they'll do

I was hoping to keep him in sandals for the summer then move him into proper harder shoes in autumn but the weather is so crap I had to buy him some proper shoes - still on the upside a - there was a sale and b - my mum was with me and insisted on paying

Good old mum - she can come and clean anytime.

foxcub · 23/06/2007 14:24

Hi - Sue I hired your cleaner's DH today to do our tiling. Wanted to ask her to be my cleaner but was too shy

They seem lovely. I'd already got other quotes so basically her DH matched the cheapest quote we'd had, which is fab. He's also going to do the kitchen bit first so we can use it again before doing the conservatory, rather than do it all at once which would mean we couldn't use the kitched for 2/3 days.

Oooh its so exciting.

I am going to sex up the kitchen by painting (or get him to paint) the units french blue with steel knobs on - am getting all excited now. I love getting home improvements done

Kewcumber · 23/06/2007 14:27

I don;t think she has time Foxie and she misses quite a few weeks. I think she's going to ask me if she can come Sat mornings which ia a problem as she's so busy the rest of the week. If I switch to someone else and you don't mind Saturdays I'll suggest she moves to you.

foxcub · 23/06/2007 14:32

That's a hgood idea. Suppose it depends what she means by mornings - Saturday is my Waynetta Slob day. As long as its after 9.30am that's Ok innit? Will you hire a new cleaner then?

sfxmum · 23/06/2007 14:54

managed to go to the playground and Kew C&C without getting wet, well almost at least the toddler got some exercise and i got my paper

foxcub · 23/06/2007 19:11

New pics of Monti on my profile BTW

Kewcumber · 23/06/2007 20:04

very cute foxie

foxcub · 23/06/2007 22:07

Hi I minght not be able to make it tomorrow now. was planning to go to mass tonight but feel asleep in a state of exhaution, so will be at mass tomorrow - will try and pop in to say Hi with DS2 though.

Kewcumber · 23/06/2007 22:16

what time is mass? as you say pop in on the way home.

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:20

Standard would be 9am or 11am.

I have a priest for a brother, me. Comes in handy at times...

sfxmum · 23/06/2007 23:24

i had a bit of a crisis earlier and seem to have eaten all the biscuits i had to take to KC 's tomorrowthis is why i don't generally keep them in the house

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 23:27

If feeling keen, and if we have enough butter, DS and I might make gingerbread men tomorrow morning. But then he might get a bit proprietorial about them...

But at least as they don't exist yet I can't eat them...

sfxmum · 23/06/2007 23:32

marks is conveniently located and i really should not have planned ahead clearly evil sfx had a planpesky evil twin keeping me fat

foxcub · 24/06/2007 16:14

Sorry I didn't make it folks When we got back from mass I had to stay in while DH went to dump several times to get rid of loads of "stuff".

How did it go?

Kew did they trash your gaff?

Went to tile shop in arvo and have ordered tiles for kitchen/conservatory (very excited ). can't wait for my kitchen's sexy new look

foxcub · 24/06/2007 16:15

ps. DH had actually told me he was dumping today, but of course I had completely forgotten...

Who went to KewC's this morning then?

Kewcumber · 24/06/2007 19:50

it was pretty much trashed before they arrived Foxie so you couldn't really tell the difference! Everyone bought fattenng things and left what we didn't eat - oh dear...

Amongst the great and good were.

Mellow and mellow mini
Stepford wife and daughter
Lemonaid and her little lemon
sfxmum and sfx
Kewcumber and the gherkin
and the inaugural meeting for...

Sushimummy and sushison

foxcub · 24/06/2007 21:04

Oh dear, that means you have to eat the fattening food...would be rude not to wouldn't it?

SushiMummy · 24/06/2007 21:32

Evening, all.

Thanks for having us today QC. We had a lovely time! I was so impressed with your Japanese! You kept that quiet.

Was busy making sushi for everyone this morning and when I turned my back a few seconds, the bloody cats were eating them and had to through all away. They are such a waste of space sometimes.

I look forward to the next time we meet up.

I will pass my info to you sometime soon, QC.

Mellow, one of our favourite Japanese restaurants is Momo in Acton, off North Circular, 14 Queens Parade. The best one (even better than Nobu, I think) is Saki in the City. It's pricy but well worth it. If you want super fresh sushi fish, I would recommend Atariya in Acton.

Kewcumber · 24/06/2007 22:09

No problem Sushi - it was a bit of a manic ontroduction to us for you! But I'm extremely pleased to find someone so impressed with my very limited Japanese - you must come around more often .

Very with your cats about the sushi though. But I am a bit wussy when it comes to certain japanese food - the penchant for eels of varying types does nothing for me (but then neither does jellied eel so perhaps it not a Japanese thing but a slippery creatures that are not designed to be eaten thing)

Don;t suppose your DH did any gardening - guess he was saved by the weather.
