COV,

I checked on the Britax site. The Britax Eclipse will not fit our old Audi A6.

mellow2 · 25/06/2007 15:08

Cov,
Thanks for offering the car seat.

SushiMummy · 25/06/2007 17:21

Stepford, I think you are talking about Matsuba in Richmond. I go there a lot and the food is well above average. The only thing is it's run by Korean and I love Korean food so I'd be really happy if they can do more Korean food there.

Well, I can do 'do-it-yourself-sushi' if anyone is interested. I will bring cooked rice, sushi fish and nori (seaweed) and everyone can make their own sushi rolls. In fact, we do this a lot in Japan. Any takers?

foxcub · 25/06/2007 18:22

Sushi that sounds a fabulous idea, but you must let us contribute to costs of ingredients!! Yummy!!

stepfordwife · 25/06/2007 19:26

yes, that's the one! have been there and thought it was good, but thought i'd ask a more expert view
'DIY' sushi? like it.

Kewcumber · 25/06/2007 19:55

I'd love to sushi the only problem is that I'm a complete philistine and my favorite sushi is the one in M&S which seems to have tinned tuna in it does that debar me?

SushiMummy · 25/06/2007 20:44

No worries, QC. There will be plenty of cucumbers, avocados, pickles for those who doesn't feel so adventurous. This will be a good introduction to Japanese food for those who's never tried before, I think.

I have plenty of rice and seaweed so the only cost will be fish which I think would be 3-5 quid per head.

Oh, I imagined you all would be intelligent, liberal and fun-loving and that was spot on. What exceeded my expectation is, boy you lot talk a lot!

lemonaid · 25/06/2007 21:17

Like the idea of DIY sushi...

foxcub · 25/06/2007 21:34

I have a massive confession to make at this point.

I am a sushi virgin!!

I mean, I've had M&S veggie sushi but I don't think that counts does it?

{whispers: tinned tuna sushi sounds quite nice}

SushiMummy · 25/06/2007 21:45

Tuna sushi is one of the most popular sushi fillings in Japan, Foxie.

this is japan!?

foxcub · 25/06/2007 21:48
Hmm
rosmerta · 26/06/2007 09:14

lol sushi, for the video! Btw, diy sushi sounds yummy. I have had it from one of those Yo Sushi places but imagine that's only tinned tuna as well?!

NY was great, didn't do much shopping in the end, just lots of walking & sightseeing. Though we did buy a new camera!

Eleusis · 26/06/2007 10:26

Oh sushi, where have you been all my WEst London life. I'm always looking for sushi places that don't require a train into London. I usually try Makiyaki in Kingston. Have you been there? I am definately going to venture to one of your suggestions one day very soon.

mellow2 · 26/06/2007 10:39

New thread for rest of June when this one keels over.

SushiMummy · 26/06/2007 10:51

Ele, is that the one next to Sainsbury? Sorry, never been there. Well, no offence to Korean people but there are Japanese restaurants in West London that are run by Korean. Mostly the food's OK but I, kind of feel cheated if they try to be Japanese but they aren't IYKWIM. If you want authenticity, I would go for the ones run by Japanese. It's difficult to spot the difference but you can always ask me!

Foxie, we got our kitchen tiles from the shop right next to Mortlake station and they had a good selection of tiles. Can't remember the name, tho.

lemonaid · 26/06/2007 10:52

While we're on the subject, SushiMummy, what do you think of Cho San in Putney?

SushiMummy · 26/06/2007 10:58

Oh yes! Loooove Cho san!! Another favourite of mine. Mind you the chef talks a lot if you sit at the counter.

OK, possibly the best sushi restaurant in West London is Sushi Hiro in Ealing Common. The only downside is the portion is so tiny and they only take cash so you need plenty of dosh with you.

Eleusis · 26/06/2007 10:59

Oh, now that you mention it, Makiyaki is probably Korean run, as I did see some Korean food on the menu. Kim chee (no idea how to spell that so went with phonetics). And I think I saw bulgogi on there too.

Any, I'm heading to Acton next, thanksto your lovely suggestions.

Eleusis · 26/06/2007 11:00

Think we better head over to the new thread before mellow thinks we are ignoring her.

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 11:05

I got some fo my tiles at the same place Sushi also Tile Time on SHeen high st - very expensive but they had some lovely tiles.

lemonaid · 26/06/2007 11:07

Ah good! Cho San is more-or-less just opposite us and we used to eat there a lot (still do sometimes, but not so often post-DS as he's only just learning to sit still for anything approaching a reasonable time in a restaurant).

ComeOVeneer · 26/06/2007 11:09

Morning all. Well I finally got the house under control after Sundays explosion. Still feeling pretty lousy. Sushi, I adore sushi (now that sounds odd)and have dabled in making my own, although not sure how authentic it is (mainly do tuna, salmon nigiri/maki and calafornia rolls)
