Almost made it to the end of the month. Children are gone. I am free until Sunday lunch

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 18/06/2007 21:26

I meant the riverside school, that is (opened by DF).

foxcub · 18/06/2007 21:27

Is Dawn French local then?

foxcub · 18/06/2007 21:29

Lemon that's sounds pretty frustrating

SushiMummy · 18/06/2007 21:32

I doubt it. Would be great, tho.

Talking of celebrities, I shared my midwife with Helen Baxindale (sp?) and I met her in the babyclinic twice! (Well, her DCs and my DS played together...)

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:34

lemon sometimes you just have to go with it.

i am watching (sort of) that new thing on ITV fiction about a 36yr old who wakes up after 18 yr coma, in the first 20 min we have had more 80's music than i care to rememberoh it takes me back

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 21:35

I didn't know that Lemon! Apparently I'm now a Celtic goddess of fertility & wealth!

It's also a character in the harry potter books!

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:38

yes rosmerta was i too obscure in my reference?

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 21:45

you were for me sfx, sorry

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:50

oh i shouldn't drink

btw at what age did your drop naps? dd seems to do without them more and more
strange child! although she has, recently taken to saying 'mummy is gorgeous' bless her she can have chocolate for breakfast

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:51

your children that was

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 21:53

anyone else for the book swap ?

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 21:53

DS could still take up napping professionally (Hah! Who'd have thought that my first-ever MN post was a harassed "Help! 7 week old DS won't nap at all").

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:56

dd never was big on naps sometimes she sleeps for 2hrs sometimes not at all, but often sleeps from 9 to 9 which is not bad

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 22:05

Mmm, we are lucky if we get ten hours out of DS at night. I guess it's a trade-off.

Marlipan · 18/06/2007 22:11

Lemonaid. Thanks. That's heartening advice. I'll check out the course you mentioned too. I like the sound of your dilemma. I have more the opposite problem - my current career/promotion prospects and salary are pretty stagnant, and I can say without a trace of modesty that I am not that good at my job [looks around guiltily].

Would love to ask you loads more questions but will restrain myself. Maybe can try and catch you another time?

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 22:47

I'll track down your other thread

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 22:48

P.S. I don't think I'm that good at mine, but no one else has noticed yet...

Marlipan · 18/06/2007 23:02
Smile
sfxmum · 19/06/2007 09:09

morning all

as hot weather and no rain are forecast we are heading to Kew with packed lunch, should anyone be interested, dd needs plenty of exercise these days

Kewcumber · 19/06/2007 09:16

I'm very interested SFX sadly the boss thinks I should get on and do some work...

sfxmum · 19/06/2007 09:20

Paddlechick666 · 19/06/2007 09:22

we're off swimming this morning then meeting a new friend for coffee this arvo.

going to borrow an ergo from her for my trip to sweden.

might also be able to sell my cwtshi as dd has outgrown it already

altho having severe difficulty motivating myself to do anything at the mo

sfxmum · 19/06/2007 09:42

yes we are having a slow start too, think will do swimming thursday when the carpets are being cleaned and dh is at home

mellow2 · 19/06/2007 09:45

sfx,
I've got a bf question for you. Dd is on her 5th tooth now and bf is now a painful affair. Do my nips get used to all that teeth after a while? Sorry if it's tmi.

Otherwise, I'm seriously considering ending the bf early.

Quokka,
Dd dialled emergency services yesterday. The operator just made sure we were fine and then told me to hang up to clear the line. We got off lightly considering your experience.

lemonaid · 19/06/2007 09:48

Is she actually biting, mellow? If I got nipped by DS then I unlatched him, said "No! no biting. Biting hurts." firmly, put him down waited thirty seconds before putting him back on again. He got the hang of not biting pretty quickly and still bf at two and a half. Also if she's latched on properly there shouldn't be too much problem because the tongue will be covering lower teeth. When DS was going to nip me I could often tell in advance because he'd get this "look" come over his face and then he'd relax his latch slightly, which was my cue for pre-emptive defensive action...
