Oh OK - not the posh side then?

LOL!

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 19:57

Go on, relactate them -- you know you want to

Kewcumber · 18/06/2007 19:57

interesting that Queeens has a rep for being pushy. Always thought I might try to get DS in there before having him but now I find I just want him to go somewhere "nice" they seem so little when they first go.

Kewcumber · 18/06/2007 19:58

did you go to the wiggles a second time memon?

foxcub · 18/06/2007 20:02

Lemon - remind me when I return to work, to squirt breast milk into everyone's tea [evil grimace]

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 20:02

No, the poxy one recovered enough to go. Not sure I could have taken it two days in a row TBH, although DS would have been in seventh heaven.

On schools, DS is probably going to the Merlin (private pre-prep, but not particularly pushy) which has a reputation for turning out well-balanced and confident children (I know they all say that, but it's also the word on the street from parents whose children went to other pre-preps). And it's within easy walking distance.

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 20:06

foxie - seems like a result keep at their heels, bastards can't be trusted clearly

about schools it's cheap and cheerful Riverside, providing it keep doing well and for secondary i have 2 preferences, the first being Lady Margaret which my niece attends, lovely small all girl school

if i ever have a boy then it will probably be another story

and the other thread, yes creep creep more that police he need some violence visited upon his pervy person, not feeling very generous or compassionate today

SushiMummy · 18/06/2007 20:19

Is Riverside the one next to Asquith? Well, the kids seem very happy there but it's a longer walk from home than to Queens but I'm not a christian and DH stopped going to church (CoE) ages ago so no much chance there anyway.

Where is Merlin, Lemonaid?

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 20:24

Hi foxie, glad things went well for you today. My old manager coughed up my reference as well!

btw, namechanger here, can you tell who it is yet

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 20:26

Merlin's in Putney, so probably a bit far for you.

foxcub · 18/06/2007 20:28

rosmerta - oooh let me think....

foxcub · 18/06/2007 20:29

Sushi - no that's Marshgate next to Asquith. Fab facilities

Riverside is on Mortlake Road, between Kew Retail park and The Dump

Paddlechick666 · 18/06/2007 20:36

own up Pud!

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 20:40

that's me!! fancied a change

Paddlechick666 · 18/06/2007 20:45

cor i'm good!

interesting name....

ComeOVeneer · 18/06/2007 20:49

Anyone heard from Nanou recently? I offered to do her leaving do and we need to put forward some dates.

OP posts:
lemonaid · 18/06/2007 20:55

Good name, puds.

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 20:55

the nursery next to Riverside is an Asquith foxie

so puds is the name change age related? trying to recapture lost youth or perhaps embracing middle age...

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 20:56

no HP fans here then?

rosmerta · 18/06/2007 20:57

oops, posted too soon!

Wanted to be nymphadora but that one's taken!

Marlipan · 18/06/2007 21:01

So sorry to crash into this thread, but I am stalking Lemonaid in the hope of asking her some advice about photography... (Hope this isn't too cheeky)

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 21:01

white wine for the ladies

foxcub · 18/06/2007 21:10

HP sauce?

sfx - didn't realise there was an Asquith at Riverside too!

Doh!

SushiMummy · 18/06/2007 21:25

Yes, Foxie, my DS goes to the Asquith next to Riverside. It's the one opened by Dawn French!

QC, the trainers and the posh Japanese shoes are both EU size 22. UK size 5? Why do we have different shoe measurements in every country?

lemonaid · 18/06/2007 21:26

Goddess of fertility and abundance, no?

[adopts best Yoda-like pose to discourse with young Padawan Marlipan]

  • Key mistakes that most people make are not to charge enough and not to spend enough time on marketing / not to do effective marketing.

  • Assuming a reasonable level of ability (i.e. you take pleasing photographs) your success or failure won't depend on your skill as a photographer but on how well you do the other business-y stuff

  • I highly recommend Lovegrove Consulting's courses -- there's one on Photoshop that sounds up your street although the content of the others doesn't necessarily mesh with what you have in mind

My own difficulty is that I don't have the time to do all the photography. I already worked full-time and want to replace that with the photography. I did originally plan to cut back my first job hours around now and scale up the photography, but I accidentally got promoted into a role that it's not really possible to do three days a week, so I have to make an all-or nothing decision. I am reasonably confident, based on my average order value and number of leads, that I could earn enough if I just quit and did photography full-time, but I'm naturally risk-averse and not quite ready to make that jump yet (plus the more they promote me the more salary I have to match, LOL). So I know I'm letting lucrative work get away.
