Hi, I know there are a few of us in Dorset so would anyone be interested in a meet up? I'm not a usual mumsnetter as I don't have any children.....yet but thought it would be nice to meet some/all of you so roll up roll up

Ok, so looks like a meet in September would be better perhaps. Saturday is ok for me but so are afternoons/eves during the week if anyone wants to meet up without children? I don't mind either way. A beach picnic sounds nice but is so dependent on the weather being good but like you say Jodee, there's always Brewers. What about Bournemouth beach, there's a bit more to do there maybe? I'm hopeless at these things so I expect you're all wondering why I started the thread . Any other suggestions guys?

Delgirl, where are you in Bournemouth?

A Saturday in Sept sounds good - Bournemouth does have more to do - Wacky Warehouse, oceanarium, land trains etc so probably a good place although if the weather is good, Southbourne beach is much nicer.

shall we set a date and see what happens? I cant do the 11th or 18th which isnt a very good start is it?

DelGirl · 16/08/2004 20:08

Hi Bunny2, I'm near Castlepoint, how about you?

It looks like it'll have to be the 4th or the 25th then. That's fine by me. I'd suggest the 4th as the weather may be better, well we can live in hope! How about it? Any others?

Castlepoint - ditch the kids and go shopping then!!! I'm in the very beautiful district of Pokesdown .

The 4th should be fine by me.

jodee · 17/08/2004 22:09

4th is OK with me too - happy to go anywhere and do anything!

DelGirl · 18/08/2004 17:39

ok , so that's Bunny2, Jodee and me . Anyone else? I know there are at least 5 more locals.......where are you?

Bunglie · 19/08/2004 14:56

I'm here did I miss something.....tell me?

bunny2 · 19/08/2004 17:20

Hi Bunglie - are you in Bournemouth? Are you going to join us?

DelGirl · 19/08/2004 19:02

Yeh Bunglie, can you join us on the 4th of September? Don't know where we shall end up, any ideas?

OP posts:
Bunglie · 23/08/2004 16:13

I'm not in Bournmouth, but can get there on the train, I am in a place at the end of the Waterloo line, down the coast?

Where did you have in mind meeting then?
What are we going to do.....
You can contact me at (whisper trolls about!) bungliepig(the sign)yahoo.com

We have something to celebrate, don't we Delgirl, no booze for you though

Tommy · 23/08/2004 16:32

I can't do 4th Sept - you guys go ahaead and have fun and let me know all about it!

bunny2 · 23/08/2004 19:40

Sorry Tommy, if they are nice normal people, we can arrange a follow-up

Merlin · 23/08/2004 20:15

Hi everyone - missed this thread as have been sunning myself in Spain for a week (without DS too!). 4th Sept would be great for us - where are we meeting?

bunny2 · 23/08/2004 21:00

Lucky you! The 4th it is then. We must decide what we are going to do.

DelGirl · 23/08/2004 21:36

oooh another one, glad you can join us Merlin. It's not been decided where though Bournemouth & Boscombe beaches have been suggested. I don't mind where. I think as all of you have children I think it's only fair that you decide. Phew, that get's me off the hook

OP posts:
jodee · 23/08/2004 22:22

Bunny2, am I normal??? I'm not making the final decision, when I organise meets, people hide from me!

Shame you can't make the 4th, Tommy...

Tommy · 23/08/2004 22:27

Yes I have a family party with the inlaws...can't wait

DelGirl · 24/08/2004 14:38

Just heard that the Boscombe community fair is on on the 4th. I think it's in Kings park, if anyone is interested in that. I think they have a few stalls etc and a music tent. Has anyone else been before? I went about 3 years ago but couldn't stay long so didn't see everything. It might be an ok place for a picnic? Only a suggestion though.

OP posts:
bunny2 · 24/08/2004 20:17

That's right near to where I live so I suppose we can always run for cover to my house if it rains. Though Boscombe Community Fair does conjure up images of typical Boscombe grots with mangy dogs and rough kids (I can say that, I live there!)

bunny2 · 24/08/2004 20:18

Jodee, yes you are 'normal' in a very nice way!

Merlin · 24/08/2004 20:32

bunny2 - glad you made the comment about boscombe 'grots'!! - thought everyone would think I was being snobby! - but there are some v dodgy people about (obviously not where you live!!)

DelGirl · 24/08/2004 20:47

I did have the same thoughts as you Bunny and Merlin but thought I'd mention it anyway. It's quite possible that you are both right so perhaps we should leave it.

OP posts:
bunny2 · 25/08/2004 14:00

Actually Boscombe is very up and coming!

I shall think hard and suggest a possible alternative, of course it does all depend on the bl**dy weather doesnt it?

Bunglie · 25/08/2004 14:02

Just let me know when and where....and we shall see what my diary says, clever little things diaries when they speak
