Gosh Steppie doesn't your grandma look like you?

foxcub · 16/05/2007 14:21

Ele - so if your pay goes up while youy are on mat leave, your contractual maternity entitlement should go up too?

stepfordwife · 16/05/2007 14:23

yes, sue, damn fine-looking family.

have sent you an email

stepfordwife · 16/05/2007 14:29

foxie..they're works of art, eh?

yesterday's embarrassing moment. at schoolgates, one of the mums was peering at my chest area. how very dare she?

i looked down to see a whoopee cushion squashed in my wenchly cleavage! (a flat whoopee cushion, i hasten to add, not blown-up, my cleavage isn't THAT impressive)
had totally forgotten that dd had shoved it down there earlier...

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 16/05/2007 14:50

no-one would have noticed a deflated whoopie cushion in my vast cleavage, and possibly not even an inflated one...

Nanou1 · 16/05/2007 14:54

LOL LOL pls may we have more pls.

foxcub · 16/05/2007 15:05

How VERY dare she?

Eleusis · 16/05/2007 15:13

in calculating "average pay" for the purposes of the first six weeks of SMP, the employee is entitled to benefit from any pay rise awarded between the beginning of the "reference period" used to calculate "average pay" and the end of maternity leave (Alabaster v Woolwich plc and Secretary of State for Social Security [2004] IRLR 486)

lookey here

Eleusis · 16/05/2007 15:17

scroll about 2/3 down the page and read section under pink heading (Stutory Maternity Pay (SMP))

foxcub · 16/05/2007 15:24

Thanx that's v useful - I may need to use that myself.

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 16/05/2007 15:28

have we none of us got work to do this afternoon? We have scared curiouscat off already by being a lazy gossipy bunch .

Hey Nanou - you laughing at my cleavage or Steppie's?

foxcub · 16/05/2007 15:34

Oooh Gawd! I have just gone to the trouble to get dressed, so I can drive to the library and pick up some DVDs, and its started peeing down!

Lazy?

..who?

Eleusis · 16/05/2007 15:41

I am avoiding it.

Can we call you Larry now (as in Larry the cucumber from Veggie Tales)

ComeOVeneer · 16/05/2007 15:41

Hi all am lurking on here whilst ds and dd are plopped in front of cebeebies wil a bowl of popcorn to share . In typical sod's law style dh has jetted of to the states this morning and what did I do last night? Decide to get a ragging sore throat and a stinking, sinus throbbing head cold. Perfect timing, I am stuck with the 2 kids by myself and have to ferry them to the west country for the weekend for my nephew's first birthday. Every time I bend my head forward it feels like my eyes are going to explode.

Eleusis · 16/05/2007 15:45

Sympanthy, COV. I have a nasty cold as well. If it makes you feel any better, it seems to be passing quickly.

ComeOVeneer · 16/05/2007 15:48

Sympathies in return. I think I caught it from ds who has had a slightly leaky nose. The trouble is I have an inherited sinus problem courtesy of my mother, meaning every cold I get is a 50:50 chance of turning into a sinus infection. Will be sticking my head in a bowl of steaming water this evening I think.

ComeOVeneer · 16/05/2007 15:48

I mean over a bowl not in. I hardly think scalding myself with boiling water will help much.

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 16/05/2007 16:01

would take your mind off your sinuses, Cov

Nanou1 · 16/05/2007 16:06

Sue ; you in a cheeky mood today aren't you?! lol at both of you actually, i laughed out loud .
sorry cov but must agree with sue on that one too bad girl that i am... you poor thing....

stepfordwife · 16/05/2007 16:13

hmmmmmm, yes, there was quite an interested crowd around me at the schoolgates today, i can tell you. agog with anticipation, they were. obviously expecting me to pull out a white rabbit from my cleavage. ta-dah!

foxie - just saw your dh after hunting and gathering at sainsbury's.

ComeOVeneer · 16/05/2007 16:17

Hey Sue do you actually want some cake eh? I am just wondering how early I can ship the LO's off to bed. I was hoping for a long soak in the bath, manicure, facial etc etc then my choice of tv. Now it looks like lemsip and a box of tissues, vit C, zinc and ecchinacea then I will be a new woman tomorrow (fingers crossed).

curiouscat · 16/05/2007 16:56

No, I'm not scared off, just tangled among these massive threads, thanks for the warm welcome. Will certainly check the au pair sites mentioned. Slightly spooked as returned to work 5 days full time in March after 9 years at home with 3 kids, and all the advice on MN suggests 4 days is better for general sanity. Anyway if I don't get a new aupair quick it's all academic... Would be interested in meetups

Nanou1 · 16/05/2007 17:01

hi curious cat. welcome.
ok buddies; am off to get dd from creche.
have a nice evening all. x
paddle you better?
where is quokka?

Eleusis · 16/05/2007 17:25

You obviously haven't run across Xenia!

I work five days a week (60 hours at the moment, which is about all I can tolerate if they don't want me sleeping at my desk). My DH travels for work, generally leaves on Monday morning, returns Thursday evening, and works from home on Friday. Except this week when he is home all week and I have therefore been deprived of my right to the whole bed!!!

I manage this by employing a full time live in nanny. Couldn't even consider not having one.

Definately feelfree to contact me with any question on live in employees. How is the hunt going? Where are you looking? How old are the kids?

And, of course, what do you do for a living?

foxcub · 16/05/2007 17:35

Is it too early for a glass of wine?
