MrsRecycle · 30/05/2007 20:19

Hello ladies - a quick posting from Camber (yipee wireless works out here). Had a lovely couple of days with Foxie and her LOs - hope you got back okay Foxie!

I haven't got much time to catch up on everyone's news but just wanted to let you know I am still around!

Kewcumber · 30/05/2007 20:23

isn;t it pissing down with rain there MrsR? Don;t tyr to pretend that its 80 degrees and theres a mini heatwave...

MrsRecycle · 30/05/2007 20:40

Rain? Did you say Rain - never seen a drop of it down here, am sitting outside in my bikini soaking up the rays. Ok ok - I lie. It's stopped and I'm sitting in the bar with a drink whilst dds are next door dancing the night away.

Paddlechick666 · 30/05/2007 20:41

half your luck MrsR!

MrsRecycle · 30/05/2007 20:49

At least I have mumsnet

foxcub · 30/05/2007 22:44

Hi everyone - hi KTB and Lola - sorry I don't get time to "do" baby groups atm, as I have to juggle school runs. Baby groups are the luxury of first time mums, so enjoy them while you can!!

DS2 is 12 weeks, so we would like to meet your babies though!!

Puds - congrats on course - that's great thing to do

MrsR - thanx for having us, we all had a lovely time. The kids loved it!!

BUT... we broke down on the M25 on the way home . AA man is downstairs poking my engine (no sniggering at the back Steppy)!

I was in the middle lane doing 82, and the accelerator stopped working, so we got slower and slower and I had to stick the hazard lights on and dodge a line of huge lorries to come off onto the hard shoulder. Mega stress I can tell you, with three LOs in the car! The AA then didn't register I had the kids so "forgot" to prioritise us (which led to me making threatening phone calls to them : "my kids are dehydrating - get here in 10 minutes or I'm calling an embulance" - I always believe in being calm and moderate).

Anyway we were eventually towed back to Richmond and the mechanic guy has just tunred up (I rang them at 6.20pm!!).

DS1 and DD were quite scared but DS2 enjoyed the adventure and gazed around wide eyed all the way home with a look of sheer amusement on his face.

Lucky I BF anyway, as it meant I could feed him in the car.

2Cute · 31/05/2007 00:10

Sounds frightening foxi! Glad you're all ok.

Has the mechanic managed to spark your engine

Welcome newbies

I'm with you on the BB thing KewC. Me finks I'd rather have me bits and pieces waxed than have to sit through a BB episode!

Thanks for the warning oxo & steppy - will definately avoid S&Ls.

Eleusis · 31/05/2007 08:39

Ok, so when is Nanou's party? Nanou probably needs to give us her availability.

As for June meet-up, who is interested?
I'm happy to come out to play, but would prefer a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. What about June 7, 8, or 9? June 22nd and later are out for me?

How about Richmond area? We haven't been there for a while.

pudding77 · 31/05/2007 09:13

I'm up for a night out, and can do the dates you put down Ele.

Eleusis · 31/05/2007 09:28

JUNE MEET UP
I will start a new thread when the date is agreed so I can put the date in the thread title.

June 07 (Thurs)
Eleusis
Pudding

June 08 (Fri)
Eleusis
Pudding

June 09 (Sat)
Eleusis
Pudding

Does Richmond suit everyone? I think transport links are pretty good for most places.

We could do that Pizza place near the station if we want to keep budgets in control. Oh oh oh... and Nanou can have another YELLOW lemon before she jets off to Switzerland.

stepfordwife · 31/05/2007 09:45

morning, all
foxie, you poor thing. i'd have been hyper-ventilating. worth it to get your engine poked, though ..(..you started it..)

know what you mean about having no time for baby groups. one of my (many and varied) guilt trips is how molly doesn't get to go to monkey music (i was scared of the teacher anyway)/baby swimming/ tumbletots/ anything. but will hopefully do something of that ilk now i'm a "flexible" home worker.

hi again newbies still feel like a newbie myself..when are you officially not a newbie any more?

ele, would love to come out to play. can do the thurs, 7th. as - pause for dramatic effect - am going away for the weekend ALL BY MYSELF. can't wait..dh has booked me into a beachfront brighton hotel with a pool, spa, etc for fri/sat.
some of my friends can't understand why i want to go away by myself. one keeps helpfully saying:"maybe there'll be other people by themselves and you can make friends with them."
Noooooooooo!that's the whole point...SOLITUDE..
but if weekend better for most, no worries.

have got my nephew staying for a few nights. hey, 4 kids? it's a cinch....arragggggHHHHHHhhhh

stepfordwife · 31/05/2007 09:53

..and well done, puds, for getting on your course. what do you want to once you've done it?

Eleusis · 31/05/2007 09:56

Steppy, when DD was 3 and DS was almost 1 I had never spent the night away from them (except for when DS was born) and I had had enough so I toldDH I was going away for the weekend all by myself and asked him to book me a hotel room somewhere in London. He thought I was crazy. He said if I felt I couldn't handle life anymore that maybeI should go see the GP about "talking to someone". What?!?! I fell off my char and explain that weekend of peace didn't mean I needed a psychiatrist. I'm laughing at the absurdity of his suggestion even now as I type this. When I told my antenatal friends they all said "Really, that's a greatidea. I'dlike to do that."

So, you go girl! And have a wonderful peaceful time.

ComeOVeneer · 31/05/2007 09:58

My parents should be here any minute

stepfordwife · 31/05/2007 10:09

lol ele! that's hilarious your dh thinking you needed to "talk to someone." !!
maybe my dh seceretly thinks the same, eh?

stepfordwife · 31/05/2007 10:16

.and, yes, others say "would love to do that, but what about poor dh lookings after kids...."

anyone would think he was their father or something...one of my bees in bonnet moments...can't stand it when peopel says:"Ah, he's so GOOD.. he takes his kids to the park/gives them a btah/changes nappies. what a great dad..."
how often do you hear someone said: "Ah, SHE's so good.. takes her kids to the park BLAH BLAH."
enough
toodlepip

foxcub · 31/05/2007 10:27

I still feel shaky after last night The worst bit was when I managed to dodge the trucks and get off the motorway the car stopped blocking a slip road so I had to jump out and run to the SOS phone box, leaving the three kids in the car, as they were all asleep and I couldn't physically take them down the hard shoulder to the phone. I was terrified a huge truck would come dowen the slip road and not be able to stop in time....

The SOS phone didn't bloody work so I legged it back to the car and used my mobile (thank god for mobile phones). The stupid AA operator said "get out of the car and stand by it", - with three children under 7 ??????

I'm never driving further than Ealing again! Its far to dangerous!!!!

foxcub · 31/05/2007 10:29

MrsR - I left the baby bath in your shower - would you be able to bring it back to London and I can arrange to collect, maybe over the weekend - that's if I can get the car mended

Steppy - very of your weekend away on your todd. All that relaxing to be done...
