well, we had a better night and dd has polished off some toast and a little banana this morning. She woke up very hungry!

I think my task today will be to stop her eating too much!

Bunyan, thanks so much for sponsoring me.

foxcub · 04/04/2007 09:09

Hi sfx - was wondering where you were!! Thrush symptoms have gone but still taking meds and scared to stop taking them LOL!!!

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 09:20

hi foxie glad to hear, i had an awfull time at the start of bf, no infection but i thought i was going mad with pain and bad latch

puds was that MMR? as i recall it was only a 'problem about 4-5 days later dd did not seem bothered before that and the it was just like a cold.

xoxo indeed fingers crossed

thinking of schools my niece is doing her GCSE'stime does fly

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 09:27

meant to say we are in a fiscal quandry as the taxation rules have changed we have to decide what to do by the end of the week, if anyone has any ideas / opinions they would be welcome think will start a thread soon

options
1 - join composite companie under PAYE

2 - set up limited company

3 (less likely) be employed by company on the Ilse of Man

sorry to bore you
TIA

foxcub · 04/04/2007 09:32

um, sorry i can't advise on that one sfx - someone else will be better placed ...

nopudstilleaster · 04/04/2007 09:33

Sfx, it is the MMR and also the new meningitis one. As he's teething though I might ask them just to do the one.

I'm guessing that your dh is a contractor? If so, then I'm not sure you can join a composite company any more. I think they changed the rules to stop that - I can double check for you if you like? My dh has recently set up his own company and think he looked into these options first

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 09:37

thanks yes i think so we are leaning toward that company option too, my inlaws have done that some time ago and seems to work for them.
there might be another option but can't find the accountants latest letter

about vaccines we had them with about 4months gap first MMR then the Prevenar we felt it was best for similar reasons

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 09:48

sfx, with your permission i'll cut and paste your question to dh at work and get his opinion.

he's an accountant and has experience of this, should be aware of the law change too.

it's a big pressure day for him today tho so may not get back to till tomorrow....

suejonez · 04/04/2007 09:50

I'm an accountant too and have no bloody idea - I have minions to deal with that kind of thing...

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 09:51

very kind paddle thanks

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 09:52

bow to high and mighty sue who has minions hi there, so is ds toddling after the cats?

ComeOVeneer · 04/04/2007 09:58

Morning all. Glad to her dd is on the mend paddle. So what is the plan for tomorrow? I have been persuaded by dd that we need to bake a cake and make biscuits today (oh joy). Then weather permitting a spot of gardening and off to the park. DH is off to sleep at his parents tonight as he is first going to play poker at some casino with friends, cue a night of chocolate, wine, long soak in the bath and some girly movie I think.

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 10:11

hi COV

where does your dh play poker then? my dh is a bit of a card-shark too. in fact, until he started this new job i'd have said he was a semi-pro gambler LOL!

my mother is here so tonight will be.... fun

dd has scoffed the other half of the banana and produced the most foul smelling nappy! sorry if TMI but I swear to god it must've been equivilant to at least 3 stink bombs.

never knew the human body to produce something like that!

sfx, have emailed dh.

as for sue's minions, don't forget she's a high flyer in the city y'know!

mrsR, very impressed with your Gran having a boyfriend! go her! is the ap better btw? what's been up with her?

i was up your way on saturday - very nice area.

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 10:43

sfx, obviously dh is being super efficient today:

As of today

  1. is the best route. You are contracted through a third party. They put you in a company with many other contractors so they appear as specialists. They pay you on PAYE but can pay you a large proportion in expenses etc to flount the tax rules. There are a number you can approach. Prosperity seems to be one I remember.

  2. Super strict rules now. No divivdends allowed anymore. only 5% of income can be expenses etc. Remainder you have to pay yourself as PAYE salary.

  3. This loop hole is being jumped on at the moment by HM Revenue and Customs. But is second choice if he can be recommended by a friend/other contractor who is doing it at present. I don't have any contacts in this field anymore.

suejonez · 04/04/2007 10:53

my boss IS a semi-pro poker player (paid by an online company to play from them) and I have been known to beat him [showing off emoticon] though only on occassion.

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 10:54

goodnes paddle that was quick thanks, dh has some contacts that being why he is considering all options, many thanks.

dd not keen on pool today so i guess its swings or some such localy and i so wanted to flaunt flab in my cossie

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 10:58

glad to be of service SFX, i was surprised he got back so quick.

who does your boss play for then Sue? tbh, i think that would be dh's dream but he knows there's no way he'd be allowed to go on the pro circuit.

he's represented betfair at the EPT tho...

nopudstilleaster · 04/04/2007 11:24

dh isn't so much a gambler but definitely wants to get onto the pro golf circuit! I've told him he may stand a very very slight chance of getting on the senior tour - not very supportive am I?!

suejonez · 04/04/2007 11:35

he sounds similar to my boss Paddle - can;t remember who who plays for but he's played in a couple of the european tournaments in real life as well as online. He does his online stuff at night for about 4 hours everynight don;t think he sleeps much!

sfxmum · 04/04/2007 11:39

oh pudsi think you are being supportive.

that night gambling is like one of my BIL but he still lives with his parents and is gnerally a bit sad and strange i think but he does serious gambling

ComeOVeneer · 04/04/2007 12:01

I think it is the grosvenor casino. I don't pay much attention tbh. He is hoping to qualify for some big european tournament next year. It is a handy little income, particularly for me, as if he does well I get a couple of £50's to treat myself.

Paddlechick666 · 04/04/2007 12:07

yeah sue, dh has played live for them too.

he used to play several hours a night and win a couple of hundred+ per day. a nice little earner as has been said. he did get a 4k win just after dd was born.

he cancelled a big game last week which was a qualifier for vegas which i thought was very decent of him. even better he sold the entry ticket (which he won) for enough to pay for anniversary gift, take-away, champers and the tickets for Cats we didn't use!

CoV, yeah Grosvenor is a place dh goes too. I wonder if he'll be there tonight. It'd be bluddy funny if they knew each other!

I actually like that he plays, he enjoys it and it gives him a focus. Not to mention a few extra quid is always handy. He dreams of the million.

He knows someone who just plays the qualifiers and sells the tickets and makes a nice profit too.

dd is being a proper PITA for Grandma and I am very stressed about not doing any work.

can anyone tell me why i am increasing my stress by being on here instead of working?
