Brand new thread for a new month.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 10/04/2007 11:59

A complete spanner ele! I felt the most awful woman around this morning but now she's gone I feel as though a cloud has lifted. I don't know how I'm going to tell the girls as they are away at the mo. But they're resiliant. They really liked her - shame me and dh didn't.

Off to check out greataupair.

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 12:16

It's horrible to have to kick someone out. But, at the end of the day, you MUST put your own children first. That has to be your priority. And don't feel bad about it. She did this. You didn't. Don't forget that.

I'm definitely available for an "I just fired my useless au pair support dinner" this week or next.

When are you due back at work? In other words, what is the hiring deadline? I've got a couple of girls whome I didn't hire, but I think they want be a nanny not an au pair so perhaps not a good fit for you. What is the shortest length of stay you would take?

nopudstilleaster · 10/04/2007 12:18

Anyone mind if I tag along today? Ds has just gone for a nap so will definitely be out later. Tbh we've been to Kew a fair amount lately as well so will probably give that a miss.

MrsR - sorry to hear about ap though from what you were telling me, probably best in the long run. Fingers crossed the next one you get is good!

quokka · 10/04/2007 12:24

bummer about the ap mrsr but sounds like you did the right thing!

Puds might try and get dh to pop around to yours later to pick up boxes. If you go out could you leave them out the front???? Will need your address too. Otherwise maybe I could pop round tomorrow morning?

MrsBigD · 10/04/2007 12:26

MrsR sorry to hear about your aupair dilemma. sacking the 'hired help' is awful isn't it but by the sounds of it it's the best thing you could have done.

I've just been out to mow the lawn and now I remember why I never used to do it in the last place we had a garden... I look like I've been crying for the last 3 weeks LOL... one of my hayfever reactents must be grass seed

foxcub · 10/04/2007 12:27

Puds - welcome to come over to ours about 2.30 is you fancy it

MrsRecycle · 10/04/2007 12:39

ele - we need someone until end of july but dh reckons we might have to extend this to get someone good. If you could forward me their details I might consider a nanny if the price is right. thanks for everyones thoughts.

ComeOVeneer · 10/04/2007 12:48

Hi all hope you managed a lovely easter with this georgeous weather (I type that as grey clouds descend). We went to my mum's for 4 lovely relaxing days and need to catch up on shopping/housework today, plus only just caught up with this thread so no meet up for us. DS has either developed an allergic reaction to something (poss suntan cream) or is sick as his face is covered in hot red tiny blister-like bumps, but is fine in himself

nopudstilleaster · 10/04/2007 13:10

Foxie - sounds lovely if you don't mind. Ds is properly walking now so will love that!

Quokka - tomorrow morning is probably best if you don't mind, then I can get dh to get them out tonight. I'll email you my address.

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 13:11

MrsR, can you get onto greataupair.com this afternoon (like ASAP) and create a profile (put pics up for sure because some people won't even look at an ad which has no pics). Then maybe you'll have some responses by the time I get there tonight.

My profile is still active if you want to use it as a template. Just search for Sunbury.

foxcub · 10/04/2007 13:14

Puds - C U later

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 13:21

Check your mail, MrsR.

Just found out some good news - WE GOT A SCHOOL PLACE.

Am so happy. Now I am warming to the sibling rule

Just shows that if you fight, fight, fight and get MP/ Councillors/ local press involved that it CAN work out. Suffered a couple of weeks of hell though.

Am determined to still be involved in the push for more primary school places/ Infant school places though. Feel guilty/ sad for those who did not get in (repressed catholic peeping through)

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 16:07

Well........ WHICH SCHOOL?!?!?!?!

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 16:07

And of course congratulations.

xoxo · 10/04/2007 16:49

Our first choice school . The one he is attending now.

Boinggggg, boinggggg, boinggg (Tigger-like bouncing)

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 16:55

So, are you going to take the flick knife back now?

Eleusis · 10/04/2007 17:26

I think we should have a party for little Oxo. How crazy is it that getting into school at age 4 is soooooo competitive.

How many years have you aged in the last month, Oxo?

sfxmum · 10/04/2007 18:07

congratulations xoxohuge relief no doubt

we had a nice day lovely warm and quiet, don't think dd tires of Kew.

next free day will be on friday hope to meet up with someone then

nopudstilleaster · 10/04/2007 18:07

Congratulations to little oxo, must be a weight off your mind Oxo!

Foxie - thanks for having us round today, hope it wasn't too stressful! Foxiecub is gorgeous btw! And little paddle gave us a nice goodbye when we were leaving, along with a 'go, go'

Paddlechick666 · 10/04/2007 18:11

evening all

well done little Oxo! must be a relief.

lovely arvo at yours Foxie, dd had a ball.

great to see little pud and SJunior walking too.

actually dd's "go" usually means "gone" but maybe she's just being rude LOL!

suejonez · 10/04/2007 19:21

Thanks for the hospitality Foxie - I'm afraid we probably left quite a mess - when the grass is cut, you can come and trash my place next!

Oxo - fab news I bet you are soo relieved.

suejonez · 10/04/2007 19:23

mellow there's smeone who looks just like you in the kew area (unless you were walking near Kew green today). I only saw her from the car mind you, so might not have been that similar close up but she had a baby with her, so thought it MUST be you!

foxcub · 10/04/2007 19:39

Hi there

Just finished hoovering up the last piece of popcorn from the lawn LOL!!

Was great to see everyone today - made me feel that I am "back in circulation" again. Just wait until I get "My Brest Friend" - the world will be my oyster (thinks "I might even make it to Kew Gardens one day")

DH is cooking me some grub

suejonez · 10/04/2007 19:44

foxie - you should have just let it grow into a popcorn tree.
