Hi I am a new mum of a beautiful 11 week old baby boy and am looking to meet up with other mums in the area with young babies does anyone know of any groups in the Gosforth area ?

Lilbunny, sorry to hear that house didn't work out but glad to hear you've found another you like. If it's meant to be, then it will all work out
I'm going to try to get to the breastfeeding group again today (and hope that it's actually on!) At least it's a lovely day for a walk.
DS has decided that during the day, he can't possibly sleep unless he's being cuddled (or in the sling). He can be fast asleep and I try and put him down and he wakes up straight away. It means I'm not managing to get much done but is a good excuse at least.
Hope everyone else is well. Did you freeze at the wedding Ladidad or did you manage to find something to wear?

LaDiDaDi · 07/03/2007 22:07

I didn't get anything new but I wasn't too cold. I wrapped my shawl tightly and hugged dp for warmth! The wedding was lovely.

How was the breastfeeding group?

Podywody do you still go to baby signing in Gosforth?
If so do you know if you have to go for a series of classes or can you just turn up and start going at anytime? I'm wondering about my mum taking dd.

SmudgeMum · 11/03/2007 22:25

Hi all. it's gone quiet on here so I hope everyone is ok. We've had a nice weekend. DS seems to be getting himself into some kind of routine but this does involve him having lots of cuddles!!! I have found that I need to get out every day or I'll go mad. Anyone got any ideas for our next meet up?

podywody · 12/03/2007 11:56

Hi Guys, I been on holidays and had a great time, we went home to Ireland, the weather was really bad but we still made the most of it. Ds was fine on the aeroplane didn't cry at all and was spoiled rotten by his granparents when we got home, he even had his first sweets, milky bottons... and yes he liked them. the weaning is going we i'm going to introduce chicken this week and get him on 3 meals a day. so what has everyone else been up to ? Lilbunnybabe thanks for a lovely weekend it was really nice to have someone to talk too. Smudgymum how about the metro centre for our next meeting ???

OP posts:
katwith3kittens · 12/03/2007 12:21

Hi, not been on here for a while but hope you and all your LO's are OK.

If the weather is good we could try a meet up in a park somewhere, have a brisk walk and then reward ourselves with chocolate !!!

LaDiDaDi · 12/03/2007 16:19

Hello!

Pleased that you had a good time in Ireland Podywody, I bet your ds loved being the centre of attention.

I know what you mean about having to get out each day SmudgeMum. Everything just gets a bit repetitive otherwise. Enjoy cuddling your ds. I used to hate the end of the day, after 4pmish when I'd feel like I was just waiting for dp to come home.

If I'm not at work I'd like to meet up again.

lilbunnybabe · 14/03/2007 19:45

Hope you're all ok, I've not been on for a while, just not really had time, spending every spare second I have to arrange house moving and packing etc.
It was great to get away for the weekend to Podywody's (THANKS!!!! ME & THE GIRLS HAD A FAB TIME!!!), the 3 of our babes looked so cute together.......were holding hands too! Bless!
Hopefully I'll be able to join you all at the next meet-up............Metrocentre would be perfect for me, if we get the house we're hoping to, cos then I could walk there!

SmudgeMum · 15/03/2007 21:42

Hi All. I wonder if we should go for the Metro Centre for the next meet up until the weather is a bit more reliable. We can still reward ourselves with chocolate though can't we Katwith3kittens?
I was out in Hexham today in the drizzly rain but didn't put the rain cover on the pram because I thought it would take me so long to work out how to put it on, we could have been back at the car. Ds won't melt in the rain will he? I'm glad that the journey to Ireland went well Podywody.
Off to bed in a bit but waiting to feed DS first. Then hope that he'll sleep for at least 5 hours!

podywody · 15/03/2007 22:52

Hi All,
Sorry Ladidadi I didn't answer your question about baby sign, yes we still go and really enjoy it, you can turn up to any class, there are new people joining every week, however there is a schedule and we are about half way through at the moment, but it doesn't make much of a difference, it starts at 9.45am or 11am on Fridays, its called tinytalk, we really enjoy it. We went to poccolo's music in Jesmond today it was also good but not as lively. Ds hasn't been sleeping well the last few nights he has a bit of a cold.

OP posts:
podywody · 15/03/2007 22:54

So our next meet up ???? tuesdays or wednesdays are good for me.
Smudgemum have you gone to any groups/ activities yet with your ds ?

OP posts:
tinder · 16/03/2007 08:24

Metro Centre is fine by me Maybe we could even go shop wandering
We went to Tinytalk in Gosforth once. We planned to go again but tbh I felt the pace was just a bit too fast for Brynn to pick things up. Or us for that matter. We did get a DVD and we do sign for; milk, food, all finished and also watch the Macaton based thing on CBeebies which I never rememeber the name of. Something Something...
Anyway.. be good to meet up again and maybe somewhere where Brynn can sit on the floor as she is getting more and more ... independant!

tinder · 16/03/2007 08:25

Or the M&S cafe is good... they have high chairs and good food.

SmudgeMum · 16/03/2007 16:29

Hi there,
I've gone to a mother and toddler group near where I live (not really that DS gets anything from it but something for me to do). I've also been meeting up with people from NCT once a week for coffee and cake. Our babies are small enough that they just tend to sleep or feed at the mo so they're quite easy. LOL at your 'independent' statement Tinder!

I'm all booked up next week - going to stay at my parents and meet up with some friends. Also got my 6 week check but DS doesn't get one til 8 weeks! So they check they're fine and if they are, they jab them!!! I can do any day the week after though.
Sorry to hear DS isn't sleeping too well Podywody. Do you want some of ours? DS has been pretty good but today he's pretty much been asleep since 10am. I've had to wake him up to feed him so I hope it's just because he's growing rather than something wrong. When should I start to worry?

tinder · 16/03/2007 21:06

I wouldn't worry if he is a happy bunny when he wakes up. Brynn had off days where she slept a lot, either through growing, or being tired from the day before or from being off colour or from jabs. Start to worry when you start to worry if that makes sense. Trust your instincs.

Hi girls!

We're all full of cold at tho mo, the girls cant seem to get rid of it! Think they're finally starting the dreaded teething too........I'm in for a load of fun now, huh?! Bless them!
I'd love to meet up with you all at the Metrocentre, let me know when you all want to do it and I'll see if I can get a lift in, unless its after we move, then I'll walk down, YIPEE!!!!

Hope you're all well!

x

P.S. Podywody, sorry about the change in the girls christening date, had it all planned then realised another 2 of the godparents can't make it, unfortunately have to drop them off the list now totally, as they cant make it in June or July! Gutted as it's my fave auntie & her fiance, but hey ho......we'll have a fab time anyway, and the girls still have you & your OH, Tony & Gemma. Trying to book it for the day before the girls 1st b'day now, will let you know when I've got it sorted! Hope DS is ok!

podywody · 18/03/2007 20:09

Hi All,

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY :O :0 :0

Hope you all had a lovely day, I did, got lovely flowers and champagne and strawberry in bed this morning....was really suprised. Ds has been really good all day we spent it at the in-laws so i took it easy all day. Starting Water-Babies tomorrow I'll let you know how it goes. Ladidadi what did you think of tinytalk are you going to go back ?

OP posts:
lilbunnybabe · 18/03/2007 22:10

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYONE!

Hope you were all spoiled rotten!

I was woken to breakfast in bed, from my gorgeous girlies (well OH, but on their behalf)...a beautiful card, which brought tears to my eyes.......so clever my girls, writing cards at 8mths, amazing huh?! Hahahaha! Then we (me, OH, our girls, OH's parents and my parents) went out for a meal in Middlesbrough, and it was so nice! The girls were so well behaved, I couldn't have asked for anything more!

Only bad thing about the whole day is that we're all full of cold, I feel so run down and have soent most of tonight running up and down stairs to check on coughing/ crying babies......bless their lil cottons!!!! I hate it when theyre ill, and only got rid of it last week!!!!

Think I'm gonna head off now and have an early night too! Driving back to Newcastle tommorrow, well OH is, can't wait to get back into my own bed!

Hope you're all well!!!

kiminutter · 18/03/2007 22:15

Hi! Hope you all had a nice day, my treat was being allowed to watch the Grand Prix with DS1 at 2am!!!
My sis had a lovely day, my baby nephew in SCBU is now out of his incubator and in a normal cot, we're hoping to get him home in a few weeks!
Lilbunnybabe, hope the girls are feeling better soon.
Nite all

My DH forgot to get a card (like he kept remembering and then forgetting again) but made up for it later when he got me a card and an expensive box of chocolates while we were out shopping. He hoovered, washed, fed Brynn and cooked a lovely steak dinner for me.. we had a lovely day.

katwith3kittens · 19/03/2007 10:39

My older 2 gave me lovely homemade cards (they are at school so needed no prompting) and eventually got a £2.99 bunch of flowers when DH passed Tescos when he popped out to pick up DS1 from a party at lunchtime. Not that I'm complaining, they were freeshia, (how do you spell that ?)my favourite. Also had dinner cooked so a lovely day.

Metrocentre will be fine for me next week, anyday, anytime, but preferably not Monday afternoon as LO having his injections, or Tuesday morning.

katwith3kittens · 21/03/2007 11:05

Anyone fancy the metro centre next week before the Easter holidays begin ?

Wednesday, Thursday ?

LaDiDaDi · 21/03/2007 20:29

Hello everyone.

I've been a bit rubbish at keeping up with this thread as I've been busy at work and stuff but it's great to hear that everyone had a nice Mother's Day. I got a lovely card and a dress that I had been hinting for so I was pleased .

I won't be able to meet up next week due to work stuff but I hope you all have a nice time.

Is Smudgemum still around?

Podywody, I did feel like a bit of an idiot at the baby signing when we all had to prance around the room but dd seemed to enjoy it although I haven't really continued to use any signs with her. My mum might take her on Friday. I hope you enjoyed waterbabies.

SmudgeMum · 21/03/2007 21:34

Hi all. Been a bit busy so not had time to log on and see what you've all been up to. DS seems to have reached the magic 6 weeks and has been sleeping for a few long periods and then being awake for longer too. I'm up for meeting at Metrocentre next week Katwith3kittens. Hopefully a few others will be able to make it - Podywody said Wed are good for her so should we make it Wed? I'm still not in any particular sleep/feed routine so anytime is fine with me. Anyone got any preferences?
I got a lovely Mothers Day card and breakfast in bed - it's amazing what a 5 week old can do!!!!! Look forward to seeing some of you next week.

SmudgeMum · 21/03/2007 22:55

Meant to say, that's great news Kiminutter about your nephew. It must be lovely for you all to see that he is getting better. I hope he's home before too long!

tinder · 22/03/2007 09:07

My sister is due a baby any day now so hopefully that would be a reason for me not to make it to the Metro centre next week. Other than that Wednesdays are good for me as we swim Tuesdays. And kind of 2.30pm onwards as Brynn has a nap at lunchtime (some) days.
