Pleased the jabs went well.

I was wondering if either of you fancy meeting up on Friday as I have the day off work. I know it's short notice but if you are free then so am I, for the moment anyway .

SmudgeMum · 17/01/2007 22:30

Evening,

Was watching the footy tonight - rubbish!!! Not a mega fan really but feel like I want to show a bit of alliegance (sp?) to my new home town!

I've had a very quiet day today and haven't even been out. I normally try and get out every day but it was snowing and rainy and yucky so didn't bother. Am definitely feeling more tired - went back to sleep for half an hour after DH had left for work.

Ladidadi I'm around on Friday and would def. be up for meeting. I've got aquanatal swimming at Blaydon at 2.30 but that's it. Will you have your DD with you? I obviously don't have to worry about going somewhere suitable for my LO yet - where I go, he/she goes!! Where do you suggest? Perhaps somewhere for coffee/tea? I've just been reading about raspberry leaf tea and thinking that I should probably get some.

LaDiDaDi · 17/01/2007 22:46

Shall we see if podywody can come too and then try to sort out a place to meet. I'm quite flexible. Can you drive?

I'm at work late tomorrow night so I probably won't check until after 10pm tomorrow or Fri morning so don't think that I've changed my mind if you don't hear from me till then.

podywody · 18/01/2007 10:27

sound good, i drive so anywhere suits me, i was going to go to a babysign class in the morning it finishes at 10.45 so after that, its on at gosforth. Smudgemum what time does your class finish ?

OP posts:
SmudgeMum · 18/01/2007 11:05

Hi you two,

I drive too!

My swimming is 2.30-3.30 so don't know if after that is perhaps a bit late? Especially with LOs?

We could do 11.15ish somewhere quick for you to get to Podywody? I don't really know Gosforth but have a trusty A-Z so with a street name I can find most places. Where do you suggest?

LaDiDaDi · 18/01/2007 11:30

Managing to get on mumsnet whilst at work.
What about meeting somewhere on Gosforth High Street?

Cafe Nero?

I can't think of the other cafe names but there are a few.

katwith3kittens · 18/01/2007 12:30

Hello Ladies,

I've got a gorgeoues liitle boy now aged 4 weeks and I'm also looking to meet other mums locally.

I dont live in Newcastle but drive into Gosforth to drop my other 2 off at school daily, and would have loved to meet up with you tomorrow at Cafe Neros but unfortunately I'm taking delivery of my new pram at sometime. Next time hopefully.

Podywody, how is the baby sign class going ? I was thinking of doing this with my LO too. What kind of age would you think its aimed at ? he's probably at bit young at the moment ..he's only interested in feeding then sleeping

podywody · 18/01/2007 12:44

not sure wher Cafe Nero is but sound good to me, 11.15 is fine, looking forward to seeing you both there.

OP posts:
SmudgeMum · 18/01/2007 14:56

Great. 11.15 at cafe nero on Gosforth High Street then. I'll be the one with the big bump, waddling around!!!

Just so I know who I'm looking out for, any clues so I don't accost strangers asking if they are called Ladidadi or Podywody?

Kat, shame you can't come tomorrow. You never know, the pram might come early.... Whereabouts do you live? Is all well with DS? How old are your other children?

SmudgeMum · 19/01/2007 18:28

Evening. Lovely to meet you both and your LOs today. I can't wait to have this one and join the club!! I bought some raspberry leaf capsules from the shop you mentioned Ladidadi. The woman in there said that the tea tasted pretty horrible so I decided not to risk it.

Swimming went well but having two activities wore me out and I had to have a snooze this afternoon!

Podywody, the offer is still there to borrow the travel cot, just let me know and we can sort something out.

Hope you both have fun on your nights out this weekend.

LaDiDaDi · 20/01/2007 09:29

It was lovely to put faces to both of your mumsnet personas .

Get all of the snoozes you can, Smudgemum.

I'm not sure what I'm going to wear this evening, I had planned on a wrap dress but it's so windy that I'm worried I might expose myself!

podywody · 20/01/2007 11:46

Hi girls, yes it was lovely to meet up. when I got home I was playing with ds doing peek-a-boo and he started to really laugh it was so funny , not his normal smiles but a proper hearty laugh
Smudgemum take it easy, and enjoy the time to yourself. Ladidadi I have the same problem have nothing to wear and hate clothes shopping

OP posts:
LaDiDaDi · 21/01/2007 20:17

Podywody, hope you had a good time at the casino and didn't gamble away all of your ds's pocketmoney!

My meal out was a bit of a fiasco, we walked out of one restaurant after we waited an hour and no one had taken our food order ! I was pleased with myself though as I was really assertive and refused to give them more than £10 for the bottle of wine and soft drinks that we'd had whilst waiting. Luckily we went somewhere else, got served quickly and had a lovely meal.

SmudgeMum · 22/01/2007 11:41

Nice one Ladidadi. That's the kind of thing I'd like to do (re refusing to pay full price when not got good service) but not sure I'd have the balls.

Meeting up with people at NCT in Corbridge on Sat was good. Only problem is that even though there are some people from Newcastle side, none of them were there as all either ill or having their babies. One woman had a 32 hour labour - help!!!!

I hope you both managed to find something suitable to wear. It's DH 30th birthday the day before LO is due. We're planning on going out for a meal but I reckon we're going to go this Friday in case anything happens early. i'm hoping to fit into a stretchy dress that I have but might end up wearing it with trainers as my feet have swollen too much to fit in other shoes. Which restaurant were you at where you had to wait Ladida?

LaDiDaDi · 22/01/2007 12:25

Restaurant was in Morpeth not Newcastle.

A pity about the NCT class. I'm not sure if horror stories are what you need to hear right now!

I wore a wrap dress in the end, I don't think I flashed at anyone!

Your dh and dc might end up sharing birthdays. My dd was originally due on my birthday which is also my cousin's birthday and the day before my dad's birthday and two days before my grandad's birthday.

SmudgeMum · 25/01/2007 09:52

Hi there,

Was Podywody away this week or next week? Nothing much happening here, a few twinges and lots of BH but nothing that makes me think 'this is it!'. I'm going to meet a friend I used to work with for lunch today which will be lovely. Health Visitor coming to visit tomorrow just to say hi!

Does anybody fancy making tentative plans for a coffee one day next week? I have visions of sitting at home just waiting for something to happen which will drive me insane.
Right, better go and watch Homes under the Hammer with a hot choc and a choccy biscuit - a bit of a ritual!!!

podywody · 26/01/2007 14:41

Hi Guys,
Going away this weekend, it will be good to see my mum, I'm back on tues night could meet-up thur or fri. went to metro centre yestersday to get ds passport photo it came out really well.
Smudgemum going to borrow cot off cousin so didn't need to buy one, thanks for your offer. hope you are keeping well when is your dh going away ? Ladidadi how is work going ? are you enjoying being back ?

OP posts:
LaDiDaDi · 28/01/2007 13:46

At work this weekend.

9-9 Fri, Sat, Sun .

Friday was ok, yseterday was busy and so far today is ok but you never mention the q word!

Pleased about your passport photo for your ds. It's mad to think that they will have the same photo until they are 5!

When you hadn't posted for a few days Smudgemum I started to look out in the Birth Announcements to see if I had missed something but obviously not!

I could meet up Tues afternoon as I'm having Tue as a day's holiday. I'm going into town to pic up some new specs that I've picked. I'm always worried about picking specs as I wear them quite a bit for work I worry that they won't suit me. Dp did come with me to pick them but he was a bit useless, "They all look the same to me", was the height of his input.

Otherwise I might take Thursday off if there is enough cover at work but I will have to check with my colleagues on Monday.

If we can arrange a time I would love to see you both again.

SmudgeMum · 28/01/2007 19:28

Hi there,
No, nothing happening here unfortunately. I have 'trained' DH to post something on Feb thread if it all kicks off, I'll have to get him to put something on here too!

I'm all booked up Thur/Fri this week so not going to be able to do anything Podywody. I hope you had a good time in Scotland and the travel went alright.

If you're in town anyway on Tue Ladidadi do you want to meet for a coffee? I'm a bit wary of arranging anything 1:1 in case it all kicks off. I'd hate to not be able to get a message to someone and them be waiting. Perhaps Katwith3kittens is around?
I hope work stayed as it was. Do you often have to work all weekend?

Otherwise, how about the week after?

LaDiDaDi · 28/01/2007 20:10

Sounds nice Smudgemum. Would the afternoon be ok? My only condition to meeting up is that you tell me my new specs are lovely .

SmudgeMum · 28/01/2007 22:20

Sounds good and of course I will (say your new specs are lovely). Although now whatever I say, you're going to be thinking that I'm just saying that

What kind of time? Where? I have absolutely nothing on.

katwith3kittens · 29/01/2007 11:22

Hello Ladies,

I am free to meet you both on Tuesday if thats still going ahead. In fact I was planning a trip into town anyway (few things I need to take back after Christmas, hoping John Lewis will do a refund after 28 days-but maybe not!)

Anytime after 11, anyplace....

I'll just look out for a very pregnant lady and a lady with a fab pair of new glasses, and I'll be the one with a new pram .

See you there.

tinder · 29/01/2007 13:12

Hello,
I have been here a few times but never posted here. I am a WAHM living in Walker, Newcastle. and would love to meet up with other Mums. Mother and baby groups freak me out somewhat. And DD needs to see other faces other than mine all day! She's 8 months btw.
Sadly can't do tomorrow as it's DH's birthday.
Larissa

LaDiDaDi · 29/01/2007 13:39

I might not be able to come now as dp has taken the day off work so he might want us all to do something together but if not I'm still free so if you organise something I will be there. I will still need to come into town in the afternoon so I'm sure dp won't mind a me having a quick meet up with you all whilst he plays on the pc!

Tinder/larissa I have met you before in RL! I met you at Heaton mum and baby social, it was my first time there too and it was a bit weird, I think we both ended up feeling a bit excluded. I went quite a few more times but I never saw you again. I'm sure it's you, did you carry your dd in a sling? I think she has an unusual name? You had short black hair? Don't worry, I'm not a stalker I just have quite a good memory for people, names and faces. Would be good to see you again!

tinder · 29/01/2007 14:37

LaDiDaDi -- yup that was me! I just felt out of place... and I seem to remember the timing was bad for her lunch.. or something. i kept meaning to go back but never got round to it. Amazing you remember me! I seem to remember you have long hair and had a teeny baby (then) but other than that I remember talking to you but not your face and that I think you live in high Heaton and had just moved? Or something?
Would be great to meet up with a few people and you sometime. Will trya nd get my profile updated for you.
