Oh my goodness!

Can't believe that I missed seeing that something was starting for you Smudgemum! I'm going to search on the Due in Feb thread for more news.

Apparently the people in John Lewis, fast becoming Mumsnet HQ in Newcastle, say that dd can stay in her Maxi Cosi Cabrio until she is either 13kg or her hear reaches the top of it, whichever is sooner.

I'm quite pleased that we can delay that purchase for a bit, dd is only approx 8kg now, as they are quite pricey and we would need to buy two.

Fibernie we really should meet up some time as we must live quite close to each other, I live on the street that Sainsbury is on. I'm going to have at least 3 weekdays off work before March plus most weekends so maybe we could arrange something.

podywody · 07/02/2007 11:03

looks like we are still waiting to hear from smudgemum, can't believe that she was able to post while having contractions, hope all is going well for you. so what is everyone else up to ? i'm having a very quiet week

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days - started back at work today after a year of mat leave!

All a bit complicated by DD deciding to have a fever this morning. DH took morning off as I was only working the morning... she's tucked up in bed asleep now.

Waiting with bated breath for news of smudgemum!

From a bit stressed out Fiona

podywody · 07/02/2007 19:14

Fibernie, it must have been really difficult going back to work after a year ?? how was your first day ? still no news from smudgemum.

fibernie · 07/02/2007 20:42

Work was fine (kind of strange but I'm sure I'll get used to it), but i've had a nightmare afternoon. DD is really poorly - the feber became high temp, she was listless and she just wanted cuddles or sleep all the time. I had to deal with the gas engineer then spent ages waiting in the docs surgery. Turns out the poor wee love has tonsillitis...

She's had some antibiotics and calpol and is in bed now. I was soooo worried about her. She's never been so poorly.

Oh, and it turns out I need to buy a new car!

Hope you all had better days! I'm off to eat some icecream.

SmudgeMum · 08/02/2007 11:51

Hi all. Just a quick one to say that Dominic was born on Monday 5th Feb at 13.50 weighing 8lb 7oz. I might get round to doing a birth announcement at some point with all the gory details. Long first part of labour but rest was pretty quick. Can't wait to show him off to you all.
Take care

fibernie · 08/02/2007 12:21

Congratulations Smudgemum! Looking forward to hearing a bit more about him.
Good luck for the hectic next few weeks. We'll still be here when you're ready to face the world!

Fiona

podywody · 08/02/2007 23:31

Congrats, Brillant news, a beautiful baby boy. I'm looking forward to hearing all about him, Domnick is a lovely name, and 8lb 7 thats a really good weight, you must be over the moon. Take it easy the first 2 weeks are the hardest, just let us know if you need any advise.

LaDiDaDi · 09/02/2007 21:27

Congratulations Smudgemum!

Dominic is a lovely name. I'm sure he's beautifult but when you are feeling up to it post a pic as evidence and so that we can all coo over him!

Hope your days at work get better fibernie. I've just done my first nightshidts since going back, three were ok and one was hell!

Podywody, have you started waterbabies yet? Is your ds enjoying it?

SmudgeMum · 10/02/2007 09:29

Morning all. Thanks for the messages! Another good night - hope I'm not jinxing it. Ladidadi if you can give idiot proof instructions (or point me to some) about how to post a picture then I'll put one up! Do I have to do a profile first?
Sorry to hear you had a bad nightshift, how often do they come round?
Is your DD better Fibernie? I hope you managed to juggle childcare, sleep and work. I bet I know which one you're missing out on!

tinder · 10/02/2007 11:25

SmudgeMum .... congratulations!!!! I really should stop by here more often. I'll add this page to my bookmarks. My Daughter was actually over 2 weeks late and took about 36 hours to arrive be emergancy CS ... she did not want to come out!!! So glad things went well for you.
I really would love to meet up with all of you. I've been going a bit stir crazy of late. Please email me if there is a meet - [email protected]

Hello all!

Glad to hear Dominic is giving you some sleep Smudgemum! I love newborns soooo much, they are all squishy and sleepy and warm and cuddly!

My DD is a bit better today but we've had three horrible days and nights and I feel like I've aged about 10 years. Poor little chicken just wanted cuddles and sleep.

I've been out and bought a new car this morning - well, a used car. A little Daewoo Matiz. It's very cute.

I'm up for a meetup at some point when I've got settled at work.

Fiona

LaDiDaDi · 10/02/2007 19:41

Oh dear Smudgemum, I'm definitely not the right person to ask about putting pics on here. I did it once and it took much effort and step by step instructions from someone else. I suspect that you do have to have a profile but I'm not very clued up. We may just have to take your word for him being the cutest newborn in the world until we can see him in the flesh .

Pleased that your dd is on the mend fibernie.

I will hopefully have some days off at the end of the month so could meet up then if anyone else is free.

kiminutter · 11/02/2007 17:20

Hello there, another Newcastle mum here, hope you don't mind me saying hi! I have 3 kids and live in the West Denton area. Congrats SmudgeMum!

SmudgeMum · 11/02/2007 17:45

Ooooh, I think I might have managed it. (Ok so DH had to help!!) Have a look at my profile page and there should be a couple of photos. I think it says I have no children though and I can't work out how to change that.

Hi Kiminutter, I'm in South West Denton - nice to have someone else from this side rather than Heaton! How old are your LO?
When are we going to have a meet up then? Anyone fancy something in newcastle the week after next? What days are good? I know we probably won't manage something to suit everyone but we have to start somewhere.

kiminutter · 11/02/2007 17:58

Aww SmudgeMum, he's gorgeous! I want another one! My sister had her baby on Jan 20th, he's still in SCBU but I can't wait to get some cuddles!
My babies are growing up fast - my girl is 9, my boys are 8 and 4! I'm just up the road in Chapel House, btw.

Swazan · 11/02/2007 18:44

Hello Ladies, Just came over this post, congratulations Smudgemum. My name is Susan and I live in the Newbiggin hall/Westerhope area. I have 3 children of my own M-10 J-8 and D-3. My children are all at school now appart from a Wednesday when the youngest is off. I hardly ever have a day off though as I'm a registered childminder so always have someone elses child/ren to look after. Would love to meet up with you all. Speak soon xx

tinder · 13/02/2007 08:22

Smudgemum .. he's lovely!!! Look forward to meeting you both sometime! Who usually heads a get together?
La

SmudgeMum · 13/02/2007 08:48

Morning all. I think DS decided to make sure we knew that he was in charge now. He screamed from midnight til 2.30 with occasional breaks for a feed and a 5 min nap to boost his energy! We're shattered but he seems quite pleased with his night's work! Thanks for the nice messages - anyone want him for the night?
In terms of meet ups Tinder. We've only done it twice and it sort of happened by a couple of people arranging a time and place and anyone else who was free came too. It was really nice to see people in RL and meet the LOs. No set protocol so if anyone has ideas of somewhere easy to meet, shout away.

fibernie · 13/02/2007 09:57

Hello!

Being a bit dim, I just realised you had to click on the link to get the photos - he's lush Smudgemum! Sounds like he's giving you a hard time...
I remember it so well - 2:30am, gently putting her down in the moses basket - hoping that this time she would go to sleep...then feeding again, then rocking again, repeat for hours on end!
I'm a bit busy just now with returning to work so I won't make any meet-ups for a few weeks until I'm better organised. Today I'm trying to sort out car insurance and tax, finish the playroom, and buy presents for twins who turned one today!
Phew..
F

LaDiDaDi · 13/02/2007 12:26

Just found the photos, I'm a bit dim too!

He is gorgeous, such a cutie.

I'm sure that you are doing a brilliant job. Mu cousin's wife just had their dd on Saturday and apparently she screamed like a banshee for her first night at home, their words not mine.

kiminutter · 13/02/2007 20:47

Hi everyone,
Just started a thread in charitable events about a Newcastle 'Mile for Maude', anyone willing to join in? There doesn't seem to be many up north as yet!
please look here

fibernie · 13/02/2007 21:30

I'd be really happy to join in - reading about the tragedy of little Maude really moved me, and it would be wonderful to do something in her memory and to raise money.

Where are you thinking of? Saltwell park or Jesmond Dene would both be good locations.

Will go and browse the site now.

Fiona

kiminutter · 13/02/2007 21:33

Thanks fibernie, I was thinking Jesmond Dene too.

fibernie · 13/02/2007 21:37

The Dene would be perfect - we could start at Pet's corner and walk into the Dene then back - that's probably about a mile. It's also perfect for prams and pushchairs and provides lots of shade if it's a hot day.

Maybe my DD will be walking by then - that would be lovely.

Fiona
