Big congrats Lauzie. Good luck with the renovation and don't work too hard. I bet your DS is running around everywhere now! My DS is rolling over and smiling lots (although he's picked up a bug so is just puking lots at the moment )

tinder · 13/07/2007 07:51

Congrats Laura!!!!!!!!!
Adventuelands is behind Sainsburys in High Heaton/Long Benton ish just off the coast road. I am going sometime today with brynn all being well. She's had an ear infection so it's the first time this week she will get to run around other than a few swings a the park

HI Podywody, Did you have fun away? How's DS? I bet he's into everything now. We've got family visiting this week but am free pretty much any day next week except Friday. I'm away the week after but nothing planned for the rest of the summer so hope we can arrange a meet up. Shame we haven't had any sun for a picnic

LaDiDudleyDursley · 23/07/2007 21:21

Sorry I haven't been on here in ages, hope everyone is well.
Anyone fancy a meet up on Thursday?

SmudgeMum · 24/07/2007 10:29

LadiDD I'd be up for meeting up on Thursday. School hols have started so don't know where it's best to meet. You got any preference?

tinder · 24/07/2007 12:52

was thinking of going swimming with Brynn thursday at Jesmond pool as they have a swimmign class between 10-11am but not sure if it runs during hols. Will have to check. Anwyay ... would love to meet up. But it being the summer hols I agree I am not sure where. Dh is off that day though so I am not sure if he has anything planned. Hmm ... well I shall see if I can make it but I can't promise. Also DH's parents are coming to visit in Sept and they have never been to our house or Newcastel so almost every free second he is home will involve tidyign and cleaning and getting rid of things we don't need. (They are from the US).
anyyway.. hope all are well.

Sorry, was stupid suggesting Thursday as dp is off work so we will do something together.

SmudgeMum · 24/07/2007 17:42

Tinder,
I was thinking of taking Dominic to Gosforth pool as I phoned up and they have baby swimming 10-10.30 through the holidays. If Jesmond pool has swimming on then maybe I'll try that one? Let me know if you find out and/or if you are going. Another time LDDD. Enjoy your day off together.

tinder · 25/07/2007 09:49

We have been to the gosforth one a lot. The pool is warm and the teacher is nice but they changed the format of the lesson a while back and we don't like it so much. it used to be more fun singing etc and now it's a tape of things that don't seem so fun. Still goo though. Want to try Jesmond and see how that one is. pool might be colder though...

podywody · 25/07/2007 10:26

Hi guys,
I would love to so swimming as well our classes are finished for the sumer so need to find somewhere else to bring ds just so he stays confident in the water, let me know what you decide. I know its a bit last minute but if anyone is in the metro centre today I am meeting up with Lillybunnybabe in debenhams at 1.30pm

Nice to meet up today - thanks for the prompt Podywody. DS fell asleep in the car and stayed asleep even when I put him in bed so I'm guessing that he was just exhausted and that's why he was grumpy - sorry!!

Tinder, I phoned Jesmond pool and their classes aren't on now til September. I phoned Gosforth back and have now got my head round it. They have baby lessons from 10-10.30 Tue-Friday and you can take babies swimming in the small pool any day from 10.30-1.30 and then some afternoons too. I think we'll go to the lesson tomorrow and see what it's like. I think the lady said it was £3.80 a session. Maybe see some of you there?

SmudgeMum · 26/07/2007 15:29

We went swimming and it was really nice. Busy with quite a lot of older ones but still good. I think it was different from how they've been doing it in term time, Tinder, as one of the other baby mums said that it is usually more structured. Dominic liked it but was a bit hungry at the end for playing. He's now turned into the grumpy monster again - how long can I blame it on his teeth?
We'll definitely go swimming again but I'm away next week so it will be the week after if anyone else fancies joining me?

podywody · 26/07/2007 19:36

Had a problem with our internet so didn't get your message glad to hear you had a good time swimming, what were the changing facilities like ? I am going on tuesday hope Domnick is feeling better, he might be getting hungrier, have you thought about weaning? Padraig was the same i wanted to wait till 6 month but started at 5 half months as he was just very restless all the time.

OP posts:
tinder · 28/07/2007 23:26

Smudgemum ... it might be less structured during the summer but actually the way they had it 6 months ago I felt was better. more singing and not following so much of a preset order of things.
Anwyay.. sorry I couldn't make it. brynn was sick.. as in the washing all our sheets kind. Again.. for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.
Hope to make it soon!!

Hello all, sorry I haven't posted on here for ages, it's months now since Mile for Maude. I've been busy with work and we went on holiday to the New Forest. There are just not enough free days!
I wanted to post to tell the High Heaton folk (I think there are a few but I can't remember who you are) that I've been to a new parent and toddler group this morning...
It's brand new, set up by some local mums, and they got a grant to buy toys - so all the toys are shiny and new, some really lovely stuff. I saw a poster in Sainsburys and just turned up - we were only one of two mums and toddlers there!
Babies are welcome, and it costs £1 which includes tea and biscuits.
It's mondays, wednesdays and saturdays from 9:30-11:30 at Fairways community centre in Benton (just at four lane ends, opposite the shops).
Will post details on mumsnet local.

tinder · 05/08/2007 07:26

Fibernie .. I went ot he toddler group on Saturday. It was quite nice ad the ladies were friendly. i think maybe becuase it's new it's not too clicky yet. Lots of toys too but I did feel it would be a good to have a few plain and simple bash bash toys.
Might see you there. I'll just be saturdays though...

fibernie · 05/08/2007 19:10

Hi tinder...
I was there on Saturday, and I'm sure it was you I was talking to! Funny we should meet again online given our conversation yesterday! I'm the one who had the very tearful, sleepy toddler who had to leave early! The weekend went downhill from there - we took her to the beach this morning - she hated it and cried unless eating! If this is teeth, or the precursor to a developmental spurt, then may tomorrow bring either incisors or walking!
Likely see you there next weekend.

lilbunnybabe · 05/08/2007 22:30

Hi all, so sorry I've not been on ages! Hope you're all well!

It was great to meet up with Smudgemum & Podywody as always, both your DS's have grown so much......

We're off for 4nights to Scotland tomorrow.........so excited......it'll be the first break we've had just us and the girls......and got a fantastic deal.....supposed to be £446 and only paid £199, plus got a free upgrade to a better caravan........

I must catch up with you all on here when I get back!

Take care!!

Em x

SmudgeMum · 06/08/2007 20:46

Lilbunny, I hope you have a lovely time in Scotland. Fibernie, has a tooth appeared? I hope Brynn is better now Tinder. I think we'll be going swimming again to Gosforth on Thursday. We were away in the Lakes last week and Dominic was poorly. He had quite a temperature and screamed a lot at night. So much so, that he went all hoarse!! He's been much happier today and we're all having fun in the messy world of weaning.
Fibernie - do you have any Dutch nursery rhyme books and if so, can you recommend a good one for us to track down? thanks

fibernie · 07/08/2007 19:15

Hi folks
Smudgemum, DH just looked at me blankly when I asked him about the books! He tends to online translate for H - has some Dutch story books his parents brought over, and makes up the rest! We've no plans to visit at the mo, so can't volunteer to get you some, I'm afraid.
No tooth has appeared - you'd think she'd get another soon with only two at 19months!

tinder · 11/08/2007 12:28

Well I went to the toddler group this am again. Shame you wern't there Fi. And we left early. Partly becuase I had a throwing up migraine a couple of days ago and I am still not right and partly because it's already getting cliquey and partly becuase of the teenage boy that belongs to the lady that runs it (I think) flinging himself around everywhere and just making me feel uneasy. So I'm not sure if I will go again. Also the plethora of push child around toys is just exhuasting. I spent most of the morning pushing Brynn around rather than watching her play!!
Anyway.. you're welcome for coffee anytime Much more relaxing :P
Hope everyone is doing well ...

fibernie · 12/08/2007 12:06

I was nursing a hangover . Not likely to be there on Saturdays for a while, since we've got plans lots of weekends. Sorry you didn't enjoy it so much, and hope you feel better!

SmudgeMum · 21/08/2007 21:52

Hi all. It's been very quiet on here recently but I wonder how many of us lurk? I'm at a bit of a loose end tomorrow and thinking I might go into Newcastle. I need to go and bulk buy some fruit and veg for the little monster. Anyone fancy meeting up for a coffee? Perhaps we can arrange something for once school starts. It would be great to see people again.

tinder · 23/08/2007 08:48

ack sorry. Didn't log in till today. I check my email all the time so you are welcome to email me next time ... [email protected]
I'll be free next week. Not sure which days though..
