Hi I am a new mum of a beautiful 11 week old baby boy and am looking to meet up with other mums in the area with young babies does anyone know of any groups in the Gosforth area ?

SmudgeMum · 01/05/2007 22:51

Evening It looks like there's only a small select group of us this time ( Lauzie hope we didn't scare you off and that Katwith3 and Ladidadi are busy rather than not talkint to us!!) How about Marks and Sparks? Or upstairs in the Monument Mall was good? Where do you reckon Podywody, your call this time

tinder · 02/05/2007 08:19

Brynn's got an intro at her new nursery between
2-3 so it's a bit difficult for me as Brynn has her lunch before 2. Sorry, that was only set up yesterday. SO I couldn't be there till 3.30 which is very late... damn I was looking forward to it too!
As for MFM ... where do I get the sponsorship form from?
La

kiminutter · 02/05/2007 18:07

Hi, I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow as I have to work
There are sponsorship forms to download here or CAT/email me with your address and I can pop some in the post.
My email address for the walk is [email protected] but I have been having problems with it! However I will be checking it regularly and I am planning on sending an email with the finalised arrangements to all the email addys I have sometime next week, and will be posting on the Newcastle Mile for Maude thread here with any updates. Please post any good ideas there too!!

podywody · 02/05/2007 22:09

Smudgemum it just seems to be you and me then... do you still want to meet up ? I could meet you some where nearer your house rather than going into town and getting parking, I will see if lillbunnybabe wants to come.

SmudgeMum · 02/05/2007 22:17

Oh no, now I'm going to take it personally - it must be me that is putting everyone off Podywody you still around tomorrow afternoon or should we postpone it? I'll wait to see if you post, otherwise I'll guess not. DS has just grown out of nearly all of his 0-3 month clothes and wanted to show off his new t-shirt. I hope he still fits in it for the Mile for Maude walk because he is eating quite a lot.

LaDiDaDi · 02/05/2007 22:24

Hello!

Yes I'm still here just busy with work and stuff. Tomorrow I'm at the "Tackling Obesity in Childhood" conference at Newcastle Racecourse, do you think there will be any nice food?? .

Nice to hear that everyone is getting on well and the dc's are getting bigger and bigger.

We are having a party for dd's first birthday on Saturday, I hope it goes well for her.

I'm on nights for Mile for Maude so I won't be able to make it.

Smudgemum, I'm confused, is it your DH or you DS who has the mile for maude t shirt?

kiminutter · 02/05/2007 22:36

Hi! Hope you have fun on Saturday, LadiDaDi!
Could I just ask everyone who knows they can make it next weekend to post on the Mile for Maude thread, just so I know who's coming? Thanks! I will be away again this weekend but will have everything sorted in time, I hope!

podywody · 03/05/2007 08:56

Smudgemum I'm still free this afternoon if you are ? say where and when i think i just posted before you last night

SmudgeMum · 03/05/2007 10:06

Excellent Podywody, would be lovely to meet Lilbunnybabe too. Only thing is, I don't know anywhere over this side and don't have the car today. I just get the bus into town so that's pretty easy for me . Shall we say 2pm? If you/lilbunnybabe knows anywhere this side, then great (can you give detailed directions!!!) Otherwise, how about M&S?

Ladidadi, it's DH who has the Mile4Maude t-shirt but DS who now has a whole new wardrobe of t-shirts having grown out of all his others. He's got one on today from Next which was a present and has a picture of a baby's bottle and says "Mine's a pint!"

podywody · 03/05/2007 10:22

smudgemum just spoke to lillbunnybabe, can you get a bus to the metro centre ? as she can walk there from her new house ?

OP posts:
podywody · 03/05/2007 10:54

leaving at 11am as I am going to picalo music in jesmond

OP posts:
podywody · 03/05/2007 11:04

ok, lets meet in M&S cafe in town at around 2 ish, see you there looking forward to seeing ds t-shirt...

OP posts:
SmudgeMum · 03/05/2007 13:20

Ok. Sorry missed your earlier message because went to baby clinic. A shame because I could have got to MetroCentre - another time!!
Setting off now and DS has managed not to dribble through his t-shirt yet"!

SmudgeMum · 03/05/2007 21:15

Hi Ladidadi, glad you are ok. What was the lunch like today? I had a lovely apple turnover in M&S!! Hope the party goes well on Saturday. Are you having it at home? Is she likely to appreciate the paper more than the presents at first? Shame you can't make Mile4Maude - I hope you have quiet nights!

Tinder - how did the nursery visit go? Did Brynn settle in alright? Did you leave her or was it for both of you.

Podywody and Lilbunnybabe, lovely to meet up with you both today. Lilbunny your girls are gorgeous. I hope they slept alright. DS gave in at about 5 and slept til 6.30. he's in bed now and this is the first night in his cot rather than his moses basket. Fingers crossed he'll still sleep. Podywody your DS is so big and grown up now. He has come on so much since I last saw him and he's just so interested in everything. We've had another look at the weather and are wondering whether we might still go camping. If you see this message before Sat morning and can remember where you stayed, I'd love to know.
Kiminutter - are you going back to the jungle? Hope you have a lovely weekend. It will be great to see you again next weekend.

fatcatkin · 03/05/2007 21:41

Hello! I've just discovered your thread
I'm 32 wks with my first and live in Wylam - Can I join in please?

kiminutter · 03/05/2007 21:44

Oh, hello!! My best mate is from Wylam. Now lives in Horsley Wood Cottages! I'm not too far away, West Denton area.
Welcome to the thread!

SmudgeMum · 03/05/2007 22:00

Hi Fatcatkin (great name!!) Welcome!! I've got a friend from my antenatal group who lives in Wylam too. She's got a 3 month old like me, I bet you'll have seen her out and about. How are you doing? I'm quite that you've still got all the excitement of a newborn to come. Do you know what you are having?

lilbunnybabe · 03/05/2007 22:04

Hi all!

Smudgemum: it was fab meeting you today, your DS is so gorgeous!!!! We almost took over the cafe, and that was just 3 of us and 4 babes, imagine if everyone was there!!! That poor guy looking after that teething baby........bless him!

Podywody: it was great to see you and DS again, as always, things are still a bit iffy on the family front, so not going over to Grandma's on her b'day, will explain more when I see you. So, if you fancy doing something on Sunday, or leaving it until Monday.....we could go for sunday lunch at the Gamekeeper if you fancy, then Mark can pop & see the house......whatever you fancy, just let us know.

Soooooooo looking forward to 'M4M', cant believe its next week.....I hope its a gorgeous day!!!! I have another twin mummy thats thinking of joining us too, with her 3 children.

The house move went quite well, no breakages and it was looking like home within just a few days.......its great to have our own space, and also have the knowledge that my parents are downstairs if we need a hand/ or a babysitter, hahaha!!!! We're just 15mins walk from the Metrocentre, tried it last week, really enjoyed it! And when me, OH & babes went to IKEA, we met up with one of the twin mums that I met at multiple pregnancy classes at the RVI, her son & daughter are about 3wks older than our girls, and I couldnt believe it, she told me she lives opposite our new house!!!! Fab!!!

Anyway, this is my first night with internet back, so have about a hundred emails to check through!

Hope everyone is good!!!!

Em x

kiminutter · 03/05/2007 22:45

Hi Lilbunnybabe, glad the move went well, nice to have you back!
I'm going away tomorrow for the weekend so please can you all keep the Mile for Maude thread bumped for me, don't forget to post if you are coming so I know how many goodies to bring! (Fatcatkin you are welcome to join us if you like!) TIA

LaDiDaDi · 03/05/2007 23:25

Wish I'd been able to come today, I'd love to see all of the lo's again and I haven't even met lilbunnybabe and her dds!

Lunch today was fine but I could have stuck pins in my eyes by 3.30pm. Sick of hearing "strategy", "actively engage", "obesogenic environment".......

Proper work tomorrow so that should be better. Party is at home, party platters from Sainsbury for the food, lots of wine !

Chat soon x

katwith3kittens · 04/05/2007 11:45

No, you havent scared me off just yet ....

Sorry I couldnt make it yesterday it sounded like a fun invasion!

Probably wont be able to make the M4M event either as we seem to be travelling up and down the country rather a lot recently. My FIL died suddenly of a heart attack a couple of weeks ago, and so we are visiting MIL on a more regular basis at the moment. Its a difficult time, but having a baby around sure lightens the mood.

Wow, a first bithday party for Miss Ladidadi. Have a super day, these first few years and parties are so special.

SmudgeMum · 05/05/2007 19:14

Katwith3kittens - sorry to hear about your FIL. That must be hard for everyone. How far are you travelling? Let us know if you want a quick coffee any time.
Ladidadi - how did the party go? I hope all the platters have been eaten and that the wine is still flowing.
We've decided not to go camping but went to Whitley Bay today. DS was totall underwhelmed by his first sight of the sea and slept nearly the whole time!
Sounds good about the balloons Kiminutter. Anyone else def. doing the walk, stick your name on the other thread.

anita24 · 09/05/2007 11:32

Hi Anita. Welcome!! If you are around this Saturday, quite a few of us are doing the Mile for Maude walk in Jesmond Dene, meeting at the pets corner at 10.30ish for a 11 o'clock start. There is a thread about it in the Charitable secion (I don't know how to do links If you can't make it, no worries and I'm always up for meeting for a coffee!! I've got a 3 month old son who has been a little horror today but likes to turn on the charm for older girls!!

alicet · 12/05/2007 16:23

Hi ladies! Just found this thread! I live in Gosforth. I have one ds who is 15 months and another on the way due October. Life is a bit busy at the moment as I work part time and my days off always get very booked up but its always nice to meet new people and when I'm on maternity leave in Sept sure I will have more time on my hands. So would be good to get to know you - who knows maybe I have met some of you already just don't know it yet! Alice
