Right, since last night was so much fun, let's get to planning the next one. I've talked to Paddlechick and MrsRecycle and we thought that a big round table would be good, and also talked about Twickenham. So, does anyone know a restaurant (or foodie pub) in Twickers with big round tables?

Oh, and let's do a Friday or Saturday.

So, possible dates:
12(Fri) 13(Sat) 19(Fri) or 20(Sat) of Jan.

I can do any of these dates.

need to check to dh. can't think straight today. i agree re round table.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 11:08

Count me in .

hoxohoxohoxo · 14/12/2006 11:08

I'm on hols 7-14th Jan. Starting work the following week so could probably do with a night out to unwind

Didn't someone mention pallawi last night? good restaurant, especially for veggies. but they do serve dead animal so I'm happy to.

The Crown pub does salsa evenings. there are lots of restauranst around and anyway teh Crown also does decent food. I'll check to see if anything is on.
Also, the Rising Sun has theme nights. I've been to Dolly Parton, Dusty Springfield and Elvis nights. I can check to see if anything is planned for January if anyone is keen on that? The Dusty night had a big gay following and most of teh audience turned up with big wigs, cowboy boots etc.

uwila · 14/12/2006 11:12

Do they have round tables, Oxo? Palawi sounds fine with me... if they have a big round table.

oxo.... are you telling us that you dressed as dolly parton??!! pmsl what a laugh!!! big pub salsa place sounds a laugh to me - if we can squat a "quietish" corner where we can also hear ourselves talk!

MrsBojangles · 14/12/2006 11:23

no plans for January yet besides frantically house hunting in Marlow.

Rising sun sounds like fun, though I'm not dressing up! Well maybe borrow a hat somewhere but that's as far as I'll go

That'll be sort of my leaving do won't it

Paddlechick666 · 14/12/2006 11:39

cool! we need something to look forward to for the NY!

deff think a pub is a way to go - they always have large round tables.

don't know twickers too well but there's plenty around St Margs.

;-)

MrsRecycle · 14/12/2006 15:30

Fri 12th is my birthday!!

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 14/12/2006 17:14

oh bumbags I was hoping to come to this one but I think I will be on holiday that week

harktheheraldfoxessing · 14/12/2006 18:00

Hi I'm up for it and can do any of those dates as I never go out.

Would prefer NOT a pub as I'm PG and smoke is not good for me or bubba (also ciggie smoke makes me feel very sick atm)

hoxohoxohoxo · 14/12/2006 18:21

bumbags???

hoxohoxohoxo · 14/12/2006 18:22

bet you can't wait for the smoking ban Foxy

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 14/12/2006 18:30

I went to a lovely non smoking bar in Putney the other nigbht, the Basement Bar at the Duke's head

The whole pub non smoking now which is great

if during week would be fine I think it gets busy at weekends tho

If the cheese was anything to go by the food is shite tho

MrsRecycle · 14/12/2006 18:36

Ooh the Duke's Head - I know it well - had a brilliant New Years Eve there over 10 years ago - can't believe it's non-smoking now.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 14/12/2006 18:37

Yes they have ponced it up but not trashed it

The new bar is great

hoxohoxohoxo · 14/12/2006 18:51

pub suggestion

In light of Foxy's concerns, what about a the white swan in Richmond? It's a lovely pub - v foodie and (from recollection) we could corner the back room (depending on how many there are of course). It is NOT non-smoking but, being food led, it is very much less smokey than other pubs.

Other than that I'm trying to think of pubs with back rooms/ areas we could take over

trying2bgood · 14/12/2006 21:57

Am hoping to make this one, will need to check with dh once his new term starts what evenings look like! Do not know the Twickenham or Richmond area at all, I tend to go out in Central london or very local ie Ealing/Acton! I like Carlucchio's in Ealing but have only ever gone for coffee and brunch. But as we are talking about Richmond/Twickenham that piece of info is of no use!

uwila · 15/12/2006 10:01

I just have two requests:

TWICKENHAM Big round table

Oh, and I want Dracula to come, but that isn't ever going to happen is it.

OP posts:
uwila · 15/12/2006 10:06

And another thing, oh fanged one, I sent you an e-mail yesterday -- to which you have not replied.

OP posts:
DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 15/12/2006 10:07

oh sorry I wasn't very with it yesterday...

I WILL come to this one if I am not busy lounging on a caribbean beach or being dragged along behind a team of wolves with shit spraying in my face and my shoulders dislocating...

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 11:40

I have one request to add to Uwila's: Not a pub please.

This will probably be my last one for a while (baby due Feb/March) so would love to be able to attend [guilt trip emoticon]

uwila · 15/12/2006 14:48

So what are your travel dates, Drac?

Shall we try the Indian in Twickers that OXO recommended? Or there's Rawalpindin Grill, but it is more expensive.

OP posts:
snowmum · 15/12/2006 16:02

How about Tangawizi in East Twickenham? Fab curry. Only ever got takeaways so unsure re round tables.

How about Jun Ming in Twickenham? I ate there the other night. They do a £16.99 all-you-can-eat thingy and have round tables. Food is ok.

I can't make it if its 19th (DH's bday).

PortAndLemonaid · 15/12/2006 16:17

Agree with hoxo on Palavi / Palawi / Pallavi / Pallawi / whatever it's called. Very nice Keralan resturant. Not sure about the round tables, though.

uwila · 15/12/2006 16:39

It is Pallavi. Dh's birthday is Sunday. He wants to organise where he wants to go for dinner on Saturday. I will be truly shocked and amazed if her really does. So, for a back up plan I have booked a table at Pallavi. Will report back on Sunday if we go there.

I'm begining to think the round table might be too ambitious. Perhaps we should show up early, take our time with drinks and starters, then rotate seats for the main course? I could organis some kind of quick system/game for the rotation if you want.
