Here's the general chit-chat thread for October

Synopsis please on what I've missed last week! Too pre-occupied for various reasons to wade through all threads. Thanks

Puds - that looks delicious.

You are now officially this threads pudding expert!!!

Fizz bang - like the sound of your too!

Mellow - love the name

mellowfire · 01/11/2006 09:30

thanks

I think everyone's else's names are cool too .

guyfoxie · 01/11/2006 09:32

Fizzi - we're always invited to a friends massive fireworks party each year, as their son has his birthday on Nov 5th. The Dad, (My DH's best friend) died two years ago from lung cancer so its a bit poignant, as he was the Master of Ceremonies, so now they have to do it without him.

The only problem is its in Lewisham! Not sure I have the energy this year for the commute, plus they have loads of friends who smoke like chimneys and I'm a bit sensitive to smoke when PG.

There, I have made two excuses already!!

Anyone going to the Kew Christmas Fair?? All the shops open late and give out mulled wine and sweets, for hwich you can bung them a donation which goes to charity. Its really nice for the kids.

Its on 15 December I think, late afternoon.

parkinpud · 01/11/2006 09:47

We've got loads of chocolate left as well as we didn't get any trick or treaters - though we never have done so don't know why I bought them .

I'm not sure if we are doing fireworks this year because of ds - he's always in bed by 7 so will probably miss them.

Mellowfire - ds has just gone for a nap so I'm not going to make it after all either!!

I have done parkin before with chocolate as well - it is delicious!! Guess I'll have to think up some more if I'm going to be the pudding expert!!

FizBangWhooooosh · 01/11/2006 10:15

i had 6 hours straight sleep last night, why am i so exhausted now?

dd went off at 7:15am and i am working from home - still in my pjs for goodness sake!

thanks for best wishes for dh, things aren't so great on that score at the mo as a couple of you guys know already.

not being secretive but just don't want to go into the whole deal on MN tbh.

anyways i LOVE fireworks but don't think I'll be going anywhere this year. i think dd would like the colourful ones but generally it's too late/cold and BANGY!

am sure your mates in Lewisham would understand if you pike Foxy.

wonder how SJs getting on!

Uwila · 01/11/2006 12:05

I can't think of anything Guy Fawkesish for my name. Any suggestions? There is positively no witty connection between owls, bonfires, and political/religeous rebels.

FizBangWhooooosh · 01/11/2006 12:44

how about UCatherineWheela?

bit lame sorry!

or Zooomwila..........

Afternoon all, still from the office (and this time eating an emergency Rachel's organic divine rice) - I might as well move in, this part-time lark is a joke!! Can any of you recommend any decent indoor play/gym type places for a 21 month old? Took dd to snakes & ladders last week and hated it plus the under 2's section smelt of stale wee - not nice! Hugo's is ok but small - perhaps we need to graduate to the older kids' area. Any other ideas for the looming winter months We have not been to the Lollipop Club yet (I know a few of you go) - is it open on Mondays and Tuesdays - and weekends?

mellowfire · 01/11/2006 13:42

fawkessake, luurve the name but can't work out who you are. r u haunted,as in hauntedvillas?

is snakes and ladders really rubbish? then i might give it a miss.

FizBangWhooooosh · 01/11/2006 13:45

liked it triple eh guyfoxie!

my nanny took 12 month old to Heathrow Gym just recently and she loved the Aladdins Cave room apparently........

lollipop is good I think, there's Redlees 1 o'clock club as well but not as good as lollipop.

feel sick, just ate huge piece of chocolate cheesecake...........

ps: still in my pjs!

fawkessake · 01/11/2006 13:50

Yep, it's haunted here. Wasn't sure about the new name but I'm running on a bit of a short fuse here today I've heard Heathrow Gym is brill, must try it soon. Snakes & Ladders isn't completely crap, I just wouldn't be rushing back. Now that you mention chocolate cheesecake .. I might just sashay out to the shop for a load of chocolate as the rice puds just wasn't enough

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 01/11/2006 13:52

fawkessake -- given your DD sounds temperamentally very like DS, I think you could try graduating to the bigger kids' section. DS hasn't been prepared to set foot in the under-3s section at Eddie Catz since he was about 14 months old (sigh).

Fiz - Is Baby Balloon still a go for Jan 2nd? DH and DS and I would all like to go. If there isn't a group outing going on then I'll book us tickets independently anyway, so just wondering (know this must be bottom of your list of priorities at the moment).

fawkessake · 01/11/2006 14:10

Good advice lemonaid Can you remind me what this balloon thingy is as it sounds quite cute! But ... wondering if it is suitable for my over-active 21 month old ie is it something she would have to sit through or does it involve running around

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 01/11/2006 14:22

Voilà !

guyfoxie · 01/11/2006 14:36
