A few degenerates seem to have the idea that some of us would for some reason once again want to get together for some drink and inane chatter somewhere in London sometime around Christmas.....

So with that in mind the date of 29 November is being paddled around.

I don't want to be collecting money either, paypal or not, so I agree with any plan that makes avoiding that a possible!

Are they open for drinks but stop serving food?

We can do lunch or dinner on that day. We can stay until 5.30pm and about 11pm-11.30pm.

They don't need a deposit but have asked if we can confirm numbers nearer the time. The Wednesday before will do. Nothing too hard and fast, they expect people to drop out, but they want to know roughly how much food to order.

At lunchtime we can have the side room, which can probably take 70 people, or the front section overlooking the street. At dinner, it would be the front. It can seat 30-odd people either by pushing the tables together to make one big one or there'd be two but very close so people could chat and move about. The way the room's laid out means that that section would be like a private area because no one else would pass through.

They do a la carte and a set menu which is £22.50 for two courses or £27.50 for three. It would be chosen nearer the date depending on what looks good.

I forgot to ask whether we all have to go for that or whether some people can put their names down for it. I'll ask. They're relaxed about some people having to turn up later for drinks or food.

Today's set menu didn't tempt me. It was very fish-heavy. But it's a Spanish restaurant, so if you like fish it will be good. On the day it'll be different but I don't know you'd check what's on it. I'll ask.

It sounds lovely if we can have a defined area for us - particularly if we can all mill-around-and-mingle-MNstylee!!

I agree that if we can do a Pay-As-We-Go scenario, rather than someone being responsible for a tranche of money in advance, would be good for the organiser (limited!)
