A few degenerates seem to have the idea that some of us would for some reason once again want to get together for some drink and inane chatter somewhere in London sometime around Christmas.....

So with that in mind the date of 29 November is being paddled around.

Do we have a location selected? Food is essential . I've never been to one of these before (probably rather obviously!) Is a buffet possible so we can do all that scary mingling thing?

I typed a lovely answer and then completely wrecked it.

So, starting again.

I was chatting to blondes on another thread and said Salieri in the Strand might be handy for people coming in to Charing Cross. I've never been, but people I know like it.

I also like the Cork and Bottle in Leicester Square.

I really like About Thyme in Victoria but I don't want to force it on anyone.

There's also The Phoenix which is a gastro pub close to Victoria Station.

So the important things for me are:

1. Venue
2. Lunchtime or evening do?
3. Collecting of funds, because I'm not going to do it.

We haven't decided on where yet?

BTW The Phoenix serves thing on wooden chopping boards instead of plates.

Which I find really fucking annoying.

Venue, I have no preference at all as long as it's zone 1. Would find it much easier to do lunchtime/afternoon. If we avoid buffet type thing, though it's more sociable, we might be able to avoid collecting money in advance.

Lunchtime/afternoon suits me as have plans on Sunday now

Maybe set up a paypal account and all transfer funds into it

Lunchtime/arvo would be better for me.

Zone 1 would also be better, but could cope with other zones - as long as someone has LARGE gin ready for me after the stress of Lunnon!

I think this is a current list. I second (or third, even) Limited's suggestion of About Thyme in Victoria. Can I also suggest a kick-off time of 1pm?

I'm happy to give them a ring and see what's what re booking, food etc. if you're ok with this?

Looks like would need to be out of About Thyme by 2.30, which seems a bit early (and it doesn't allow for latecomers to join in).

Open for lunch from 12 to 2.30. Dinner from 5.30 to 10.30.
