Let's start a new thread the old one is getting too long

I'm off travelling 22-29th but before then I hope I'd be able to 'find' some time but probably not in the week leading up to 22nd as dh would probably divorce me

I don't think you can vaccuum pack a computer a travel kettle, a travel hairdryer, instant soup, laughing cow cream cheese, 20 presents for carers, driver translator, books, dvds, camcorder, camera, associated cables, hard plastic toys for orphanage, vests for orphanage, snowsuit, calpol, metanium, toiletries, towels, pillow, alarm clock, my clothes, shoes, a few baby clothes, biscuits for bribing baby... have I left anything out?... into the size of a suitcase.

MrsBigD · 10/09/2006 22:27

blimey hats off for getting that lot into anything smaller than a sea chest you're doing well!!!

mrsbigd - are you getting nosey already?? poor newbies. I say this with the cocky air of someone who was a newbie only a couple of weeks ago - now I'm addicted to MN, esp this west london thread.

shoudl change my name to 'nolongeranewbie'

MrsBigD · 11/09/2006 13:14

nosey? who? me? never I just love updating the stats thread LOL

OP posts:
Uwila · 11/09/2006 13:38

No, you should change your name to OXO. And, as DD would say, do it now!

Welcome Josefinm! Are you coming for Thai on Friday?

Sue, I've never been where you are going. But, if it is like Atyrau, BRING WATER Yes, I know full well how heavy it is, but it sure beats typhoid. Drinks without ice, and no uncooked veg inculding salad because of course it is washed in the water. Have you gotten jabs? If not I can recommend a clinic in Brentford.

MrsBigD · 11/09/2006 13:58

Uwila shouldn't that be NOW, my dd always puts great emphasis on that

SJ failing jabs or abstaining from local water, vodka for breakfast, lunch and dinner LOL a friend of mine who used to trek through South America followed that with the slight variation of drinking tequila and NEVER got sick! Well either it was the alcohol or he was just indestructible

quokka · 11/09/2006 15:22

Just had to let you all know that ds1 peed in the potty last night! Of course he was bribed and he hasn't done it since, but hey he did it

Nanou1 · 11/09/2006 15:28

well done you!!! on sat night; dd "felt" that she needed a wee whilst she was in the bath; so she stood up - bless her - and had her wee like cousin Louis (who is a boy you understand!) . so am going to start potty training again soon. you ok qokka?

quokka · 11/09/2006 16:00

yea we're fine, just been a bit hectic.

Had a run in with a neighbour/friend this morning. We have the same cleaner and as I found her (the cleaner) she does my house first and my friend was complaining that I work her too hard. So when she goes to her house she does a terrible job because she's tired from cleaning my house!

Nanou1 · 11/09/2006 16:19

what???!!! no wonder you are . your neighbour can always find someone else if not happy but why should it be your fault??!! this is silly!

quokka · 11/09/2006 17:00

tell me about it. This is the same lady that complains all the time that her baby doesn't sleep at night and doesn't eat during the day. When i say she shouldn't feed him every 3hrs in the night, she replies "but he wont eat during the day". Arrrhhhhh!

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/09/2006 17:00

fatfox - I'm flying from heathrow and have a suitcase on wheels so I'm not worried about carrying it, but fitting it all into the suitcase and having to pay an excess luggage fee interanlly. The internal flights have have the luggage allowance of the international ones and excess fee is expensive so trying to keep the weight down.

I think I have run out of time to have jabs {shock], wasn't expecting to travel until sometime October so jab schedule is now impossible! Might possibly try to squeeze a couple in - but yea have been warned about the water.

lemonaid · 11/09/2006 17:12

You could certainly do Hep A at this kind of notice (did it last year a few days before travel), and tetanus if you're not up to date on boosters. And typhoid is recommended "at least 10 days before travel", I think, so you can still fit that in. You'll just have to chance the diptheria and Hep B because those you do need a couple of months in advance.

Uwila · 11/09/2006 17:20

I would definately go do typhoid and hep a if I were you. Asuming you won't be having sex, I wouldn't worry about hep b. And if you stear clear of sticking rusty nails into your feet then you can probably get away without tenus.

I had hep a and typhoid seven days before travel. Go do it!! And bring water. Man, the runs will spoil your fun if you drink their water. Sorry if too much info, but it needed to be said.

fatfox · 11/09/2006 17:24

Evenin' All

Does any one remember Z Cars? I bet you do Sue

Seriously...

Josefinm - welcome and do try and join us on Friday if you can. There is another link about the meet up, which I'm too dim to do a link to , but I'm sure MrsBigD will oblige where I can't

I'm pregnant too - due Feb/March

Listen everyone - I felt the first kicks!!! Reassuring after drama of last week and great because usually I don't feel any kicks until 20 weeks. Does this mean I've lost weight, I wonder?

Nice to hear all the wee wee tales

Uwila · 11/09/2006 17:28

He's pissed off at you cause you went telling people he was no more. He's just saying "hey mum, I'm still here... whack!

Uwila · 11/09/2006 17:29

Or she...

suejoneziscalmernow · 11/09/2006 17:29

"Asuming you won't be having sex"

lemonaid · 11/09/2006 17:33

You need to get Uwila and your social worker (who clearly assumes vast quantities of rumpy-pumpy going on incessantly) together to fight it out...

They can let you know what they decide
