Let's start a new thread the old one is getting too long

I'm off travelling 22-29th but before then I hope I'd be able to 'find' some time but probably not in the week leading up to 22nd as dh would probably divorce me

What's the Great River Race?

MrsBigD · 06/09/2006 14:18

great river race

OP posts:
Uwila · 06/09/2006 14:53

So, is this a bring-the-kids event?

xoxoxo · 06/09/2006 15:04

Hi
Wd love to go to Great River Race but that's open house weekend and have booked house tours. Will probably see kick off in Twickenham? Richmond though if anyone is around there?

School visit has come and gone. Put on laura ashley dress and some lipstick, and ds managed to poo on floor in the middle of it! School lady said it was ok, nothing could take away our school place no matter how badly he behaved. With hind sight should have told her to clear off and chucked her out (heck - if it's guaranteed anyway may as well have some fun)

Quokka - sorry but I think he's got a bit of a dicky tum so hope he hasn't passed it to your two. DD is strapping so maybe not bug but bad cooking.

quokka · 06/09/2006 15:44

oxoxox if he doesn't get it from your ds he will get it from somewhere else so don't worry yourself. Is he ok now, surely there can't be more poo?

Thanks for the birthday muffin

Thanks for all the birthday wishes guys, I've had such a lovely day . To cap it all off both boys are asleep so I think I may join them.

Nanou1 · 06/09/2006 16:52

glad you had a nice day quokka! did you ever get my email by the way? if not i'll send it again.

Nanou1 · 06/09/2006 16:54

xoxoxo. am i missing something? why did you get a school visit? you teach your kids at home?

Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 17:04

Great River Race is a great spectacle and picnic opportunity - weather permitting. deff a kids affair.

I've done this race 3 or 4 times in outrigger canoes and a dragon boat and it's always lovely to have spectators along the way.

perfect opportunity to disguise the need for a hair of the dog after the night out preceeding!

Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 17:32

ps: well done for the link MrsBigD!

I can't get links or emphasis to work........

also I can't believe a comitted bunch of Westies such as yourselves don't know about the GRR!!

Uwila · 06/09/2006 17:47

Hey, I'm a foreigner. My knowledge is limited!

Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 17:50

COP OUT!

MrsBigD · 06/09/2006 17:52

I'm a foreigner too as for cop out... I'm too busy sorting out childcare, schools and work to worry about what's going on more than 1 mile away unless it's hugely advertised

bumpmakestwo · 06/09/2006 18:03

Back from the garden...mower was hard work! Little one played on rug ( no where near where I was mowing!!)and practised her new rolling over trick. Then sat and admired work with a beer and some babyrice. I didn't know about the GRR either..shows how much we get out!

bumpmakestwo · 06/09/2006 18:05

Can I just add that whilst little one was nowhere near where I was mowing, she was in my view. Also the beer went no wher near her babyrice and it was 5.30pm. (Panic you guys think I'm a crazy mum)

Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 18:14

you sounds like my kinda mum BMT!

bring your beer over here, I'm just about to give dd a breastfeed whilst slugging glass of wine!

aren't Grandma's great? she's in kitchen making parsley sauce for our dinner (to go with baked spuds and a bacon joint) and dd is sucking a piece of toast in her highchair and I'm cruising the 'net.

PC666

MrsBigD · 06/09/2006 18:39

nothing wrong with a bit of beer in baby rice

ah grandparents... ours are all abroad so no quick trip over to cook dinner. Though dad is coming over for when I'm galavanting off to Greece so will be cooking for family. He came over after I had cs with ds to help out and I put on 5kg AFTER the birth LOL

OK so who's up for GRR? We were thinking the stretch aong the tow path at Kew

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 18:48

LOL, your Dad sounds great!

Grandma is now bathing The Chosen One!

Deff up for GRR, am easy on location as we'll trudge from home (being 10 mins walk from Richmond Lock).

Only concern would be weight of alchohol but really I suppose that's what DHs and pushchairs are for right?

ps: am starting to feel mildly worried about tomorrow....... need to decide whether to use breastpump at work or not.........

xoxoxo · 06/09/2006 19:02

hello all: what a day, eh? Fab sunshine (can you working mums see that from your desks? No? Ah, shame!)
Nanou: no, I am def NOT home teaching - actually trying to get the little sods out asap.
BMT: mowing? on the hottest day in months - you need that beer m'girl, and plenty of it!
PC666: I have lived in Richmond for 15 yrs, and am deeply ashamed.... I think I've noticed the noise a few years ago. I probably noticed the pubs were full: not so hot on sports you see. And moving head direction to follow path of boats counts as sports in my book.
Quokka: yep, lots and lots of poo. And forgot i had agreed to host kids dinner party. Am shattered. Need cold beer. Now.

bumpmakestwo · 06/09/2006 20:35

Paddlechick why u worrying about bp at work? I have to do it and my advice is to not feel guilty taking time out to do it and find a private area NOT the toilet. Oh and find a little cooler bag or something to disquise your breastmilk bags in the fridge.

Mmm didn't realise it was one of the hottest days till I got going..absolutely shattered now...going to treat myself to another beer or should I have some wine....
'Beer before wine you'll be fine
Wine before beer and you'll feel queer'

Yep I'm okay to have wine!!!

Paddlechick666 · 06/09/2006 21:08

pmsl BMT, like your style.

it's not so much worrying about expressing at work more can i be fagged LOL. dd is 10 months and really can survive during the day without a feed but i dont' want my supply to drop on the 2 days i'm away iyswim. forgot about the bags - i've just packed 2 3oz mini bottles and intend to store in that then put them in cool bag with ice pack.

impressed with lawn mowing at 5 months!

Xo, doesn't count as sport if the majority of your body is stationary and you are consuming alchohol, french cheese and/or chocolate.

you must join us and enjoy the spectacle!

fatfox · 07/09/2006 07:18

Hi - a quick hello before the monsters awake

I went to GRR once it was fun - would be up for it on 16th morning until early arvo

Anyone still meeting in Kew Gardens on Saturday 9th, or did I imagine that? Uwila, MrsBidD, Quokka, Oxo, Sue anyone else?

Quokka - glad you had a nice B'day

xoxoxo · 07/09/2006 07:29

morning fatfox; am v impressed you get up BEFORE the lo's. DS was bouncing on my head at 5.30 begging for pink milk a la charlie and lola.

pc666: will look at start of GRR but have already got tickets for Open House tour of Richmond Theatre and few other places so sorry. Will think of you with all that wine/ chocolate/ cheese. Have feeling I have made bad choice!

Uwila · 07/09/2006 10:56

Not sure about Kew. I'm thinking about running off to London for the day all by myself to do some studying for a course/test I want to take for work (if I can get my boss to pay for it).

Paddlechick666 · 07/09/2006 11:15

i don't like it

dd went to bed at 8:45pm and I had to wake her at 6:30am so didn't even get overnight cuddles.

the trains were delayed and full of very efficient smart looking people.

i got lost coming out of Waterloo and couldn't remember how to get to office

i want to go home now..............

Uwila · 07/09/2006 11:21

Every day I get up at 5:00 or 5:30 (depending on how many times I hit the snooze) and at 6:00, I get the kids up. You get used to it. And they kids don't seem to mind one bit. In fact, whe I put DD down at night we talk about playing in my room in the morning. It's is our daily routine.

Don't fret! It will be fine.
