As Nanou01 has declared me group leader here's a new thread to try and arrange our next meet-up

Oldies and newbies equally welcome :)Grin

I'm pretty free for the rest of May, bar some dentist appointments

June is very barren so any entry in my social calendar would be most welcome.

Meet without the kids any evening
Meet with the kids only weekends

When and where would whoever like to meet? Grin

Hey, how much does Kew membership cost? And does your nanny use your pass? (or does it have your pic on it?)

suejonez · 01/06/2006 16:12

I think Kew costs about £35 single membership? No photo as I use my sisters all the time Blush

suejonez · 01/06/2006 16:12

Children free under 16

MrsBigD · 01/06/2006 17:52

we've got a joint pass for I think £68. No photo in there. Tried taking my friend in on it the other day but got 'caught'... as one of the passes obviously says Mr. George ;) Wangled out by saying that I picked up the wrong set and it's my brother's and his wife's... let us off and we paid entrance for my friend, but at a reduced rate ;)

But e.g. had we given them to my dad and his girlfriend wouldn't have been an issue as Mr. & Mrs. :)

Hadn't given it to nanny yet, but I think she'd find it a bit daunting to catch the bus with my 2 LOL

Uwila · 02/06/2006 09:25

So no one wants to meet up with me and my sprogs tomorrow then? Sad

MrsBigD · 02/06/2006 10:56

just checking with dh :)

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 02/06/2006 10:59

Uwila... dh feeling coldy/fluy so I'm all yours as he'll be needing sleep and the only way he'll get that is if I take the kids out :)

So where and when? :)

OP posts:
Uwila · 02/06/2006 12:13

Cool... don't know. Do you have a suggestion. When does it get crowded? Would like to beat the rush so I can have a nice parking space.

MrsBigD · 02/06/2006 12:31

emailed you :) Kew opens at 0930 so if the weather is nice best bet is to be there no later than 10. Then you should still be able to find parking in the area of Victoria Gate in one of the side streets for no parking fee :)

OP posts:
Uwila · 02/06/2006 12:58

I like free parking! Okay, let's meet at Victoria Gate at 10:00.

MrsBigD · 02/06/2006 13:11

Victoria Gate 10:00 it is

As for parking in the side streets... read the residential parking signs carefully WinkGrin

suejonez · 02/06/2006 19:16

MOst residents parking in Kew is 10-12 on weekdays only.

Lovely and sunny in the Isle of Wight Grin and I can hear the birds tweeting (as opposed to the planes flying)

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:47

How was Kew?

MrsBigD · 04/06/2006 22:52

weather was great :) had to leave early as dd managed to hurt her toe and was a pile of misery after that of course... and didn't want to walk. so had to carry porkchop ds and push her back to the car... Kew never felt that large!!! [exhausted emoticon]

All's well now though, but naturally dd is milking her sore toe ... a film diva in the making! Grin

Hello! (and many apologies!!!) I beg forgiveness. Truly sorry to be out of touch so long. I've not been rudely ignoring everyone (on purpose, I mean!)...honestly just busy, and actually haven't been able to get at the computer much lately. I used to have a cushy job where I could sit at a computer much of the day, but not since ds was born (4 yrs ago)...

Dh has had a lot of family outings he's been wanting to do lately, so we've been away a bit. Not much free time recently in between packing & unpacking & basic chores. Since dh's job assignment here isn't a permanent one, he's been having Mad Tourist fits whenever he can get away from work. It's been fun, but I've gotten behind on a lot of things.

Wine & moussaka sound great! But need to check with dh first. I do hope I can see everyone again soon! Hope everyone is doing all right and enjoying the lovely weather.

YanksUponThames · 05/06/2006 14:28

Grin I can really appreciate the film diva bit. Ds, when the mood takes him, is quite the hard-working Drama Queen and does a hilarious job of turning his Pouty Lip inside out. He usually makes it obvious when he's doing it on purpose, and carefully studies his different expressions in mirrors, blank TVs, and dark tube train windows etc., or even shiny doorknobs.

suejonez · 06/06/2006 13:30

So are you coming Yanks? We can arrange to go supermarket shopping together (SJ temptingly waives juicy carrot). And I have American neighbours and I behave quite nicely to them Grin.

SnowBoo · 06/06/2006 21:24

Hi all!

Just checking in to see how everyone is. Am now officially a big humungous pg woman. Even dh's XL t-shirts are too tight over bump. And am sure baby will be early.

SO afraid i won't be coming on 15th. Too hot and uncomfortable. Can't sleep, have morning sickness (again! at 32 weeks!) and feel blurgh.

Hope all are well.

MrsBigD · 06/06/2006 22:20

Snowboo, sorry to hear you're feeling so rough. Sure I have a few XXL t-shirts if you need anything ...they're dh's and I flogged them when I was pg... very comfy Grin

OP posts:
suejonez · 06/06/2006 23:09

I'm sure I must have something that fits - I'm rather generously proportioned myself (though a somewhat different shape!). How fussy are you about how well fitted something is? I'd be happy to rifle through my summer stuff and see if I've got something loose that would fit. I've certainly got some loose cotton shirts and probably some tshirts too. I'm a size 24 so it might be loose on the shoulders and I'm pretty tall but if you're interested just let me know.

MrsBigD · 08/06/2006 13:38

woohay we might be 5 or 6 people after all at the Wine & Mousaka!

How are you Snowboo? Heat must be a 'killer'. Found any big enough t-shirts?

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 08/06/2006 20:31

Heat has crippled me today. And the fact that i have pulled up all the old lino in our toilet as i thought it was smelly and then proceeded to use a scraper to lift up the 30year old floor vinyl tiles under the layers of manky lino! Why oh why don't people just pull it up before putting new floor down?? Won't tell you what i found, too gross.

As for t-shirts, dh has found his pj tops (his mum bought him and he never wears) and they are MASSIVE! So am happy for a while.

Thanks for the offers of t's, very much appreciated!

MrsBigD · 08/06/2006 20:36

ripping up vinyl? Already in your nesting phase are you Grin

as for what was underneath... I can imagine, we got a new fridge freezer the other day after months of badgering the landlady... suffice to say I'm sure the floor underneath the old one has not been cleaned since it was put in. Granted I haven't cleaned there in the 3 years we were here (meak woman (me) wasn't thinking of moving it Grin) but... the stuff under there was defo older and petrified. Not to mention the 'wild life'... I HATE spiders!

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 08/06/2006 20:39

Well trust me, wild life is better than 30 years of previous owners....PUBES!!!! Yuk!!!! Was absolutely disgusting, might have to go scrub myself again....

Actually, not a spider fan either....

suejonez · 09/06/2006 10:41

Snowboo, I have found a large pale blue cotton/linen shirt long enough to be worn as a dress which I don't wear much, if you're interested. Would be nice and cool.
