Any Eastleigh/Southampton mums here?

I'm looking to move to Eastleigh or Southampton and I wanted to try and make some new friends in the area. So hello! Who are you and where abouts are you? Also, do any of you know any private landlords who take DSS and don't go through an agency??

I suggested S/Sams because it was the only place I knew was close to a train station, the last time I went there was about 5 years ago! So don't know what it was like.
I went to Kids2day on Sunday and thought it was very good! (hadn't heard of it til last week and only a few minutes from my house too!) I don't very often get the train so am not sure of the distances from places to train stations although I do now know that Chandlers Ford station isn't very far about 10 mins I guess? Also krazy Kingdom doesn't appear to be that far from Hedge End Station either - Do we want to change to one of those then?

pinklilith · 07/03/2006 11:31

Thats ok, I don't think /i can make it now, need the money. Bloody direct debits gone all squiff. If thats even a word. If you guys can get a babysitter though, I am gonna have a big party for my birthday in October, for Halloween, itson the 28th, and it will be pretty much fancy dress, open invite.

OP posts:
chjlly · 07/03/2006 11:44

Oh No! You'll have to remind us about October nearer the time though!
How is the house hunting going?
Can anyone else still make the 18th?

pinklilith · 07/03/2006 19:22

slow and painful, I hate house hunting, at least if I was looking for one to buy I wouldn't have this problem.

Hi Pink, where are you hoping to move to? And is it buy, rent or housing trust? I am in Hamble and waiting for housing! Takes so long to get a place now.
Where is this meet up sposed to be? Would be great if we could all meet up. I have found it very hard since being back to meet people.

chjlly · 08/03/2006 12:57

We were going to meet on the 18th at Serendipity Sams in Romsey - but we can change the venue if people want!
but I don't know how many are available for it either!

pinklilith · 08/03/2006 20:03

we'll have to arrange a meet in Winchester, you can all come to mine for cake! lol,

OP posts:
Kiwiana · 10/03/2006 12:00

Yeah I can't really afford to go to Serendipity either. Getting there is ok but I couldn't afford to get in or buy anything once in there.
Once summer is here we can arrange picnics in parks etc. Bit of a catch 22 this one isn't it. We all want to meet other local mums but can't afford to get out to do it. :(

pinklilith · 10/03/2006 14:41

I had impromtued bills appear and had to get them cleared immediately or I would have been there. Its painful to look at your purse though isn't it. However, when I finally get a house I am gonna have a house warming party thing.

chjlly · 12/03/2006 19:02

Sorry pinklilith only just seen this!
I think we are better to wait til the better weather and go for a picnic somewhere!

pinklilith · 13/03/2006 08:50

I'm with you on that one. of course the offer of cake here with tea/coffee is still open.

OP posts:
Kiwiana · 15/03/2006 22:46

Hey let arrange a meet at Pinks house then.. hehe
Would be good to meet other mummy's nearby soner rather than later, then once summer comes we can freely meet up for picnics and BBQ's, which I love so much. Come on girls, let's get together...

Sorry i havent been posting on here for a bit, have spent most of the time organising DH's birthday thats now gone to pot-bloody men.

Anyway I am still up for a meet whenever it is arranged. Judging by the posts i have just read it doesnt look like the meet on the 18th is going ahead but never mind we can arrange to meet up later once we can all afford it. Hopefully the weather will start to improve soon which will give us more options of where to do it.

pinklilith · 16/03/2006 08:32

Kiwiana - I was only half joking lol, if people wanted to meet at mine we can we have a communal garden that is fenced off so if its nice we can take it outside but we have a retreat if its bloody cold and I am happy to meet people at the station. PM me if you are interested, we could do it on the 18th.

chjlly · 16/03/2006 08:54

Hi all, Can I cause a problem??!! I have made other arrangements on the 18th now - sorry!

but don't mind if you want to go ahead I'll meet up the next time!

pebblemum · 16/03/2006 09:22

Shall we arrange our meet for a time when we can all make it. It would be better all meeting as strangers rather than being the only person there that hasnt met anyone before if you get what i mean.

Maybe we could arrange it for next month and then it gives us a bit longer to find a venue. The only day i cant do in April is the 8th as its dh's birthday and we are supposed to be spending the night at the Botley Park Hotel but you never know if he keeps being an arsehole I may go on my own and we can all meet for a child free night out Wink

sairaQ · 16/03/2006 10:12

hi im sarah i live in bitterne can i meet up as well please. i got a very boistrous 1 yr old, a 12 yr old nightmare.an 11 yr old angel and an 11 yr old with ASD, so need lots of adult conversation and coffee,

pebblemum · 16/03/2006 10:35

Welcome to the mad house sairaQ. I have a boisterous 2.5yr and an almost 9yr old so fully understand the need for adult conversation. Dont know when or where the meet up will be, all got a bit confusing at the mo but whenever it is you are welcome. In the mean time we can all chat on here in order to save our sanity

sairaQ · 16/03/2006 10:51

sorry no sanity left it all went yrs ago im surviving on luck and coffee at the mo. im happy for a mini meet up until a date can be confimed where everyone can make it, good luck though cos with so many people here now the chances of everyone being able to make the same time are quite slim, shame though can u imagine a whole lot of mums and kids decending on one town all at once. lol GrinShock

pebblemum · 16/03/2006 11:16

That would certainly be a sight, would definatly clear the place Grin

pinklilith · 16/03/2006 14:45

to be honest I don't know many places we can go, Winchester Leisure centre has a crech, and a ball park for anyone short enough. Um most cafe's are too small for more than 2 pushchairs. I'll do some research, p.s anyone up for an ann summers party on 1st April?

OP posts:
chjlly · 16/03/2006 15:54

we could always meet up at west quay for a coffee? or escape one evening to somewhere central!!!

pinklilith · 16/03/2006 20:29

west quay for coffee sounds good, there is a lot of space at the top isn't there?

OP posts:
sairaQ · 16/03/2006 20:59

should we find out how many are going first b4 choosing a place or we might get politly asked to leave with al our screaming kids if loads of us turn up, specially if its school hols ill have 4 kids to bring, lol or we could meet in toys r us and let the kids run loose in there for a while whilst we chat in the carpark.
