Anyone in the Lancing, Shoreham, Worthing area?
I am a 30 year old working mum.Moved to Sussex in 2000 to go to uni, most people I met moved back home afterwards but I met someone and got married.I have a daughter almost two and some good friends but no one with children and you all know it changes everything. Time, money and energy to go out is hugely decreased and even if you don't want to talk babies, schools, nurseries etc its your life now and childless single friends are on a different planet-or should I say we are!
Anyone near me who is on my wavelength?
please get in touch.

hi,yeah goring is down the road.
how many kids have you got?
i won't be able to come to the meet up at flying fortress, i have other kids to pick up from school, and playgroup.

Tortington · 29/01/2006 16:34

3kids, 16 yr old and twins 12.

janeyhills · 30/01/2006 16:49

mine are 3 girls 15,14 and 10 and 2 boys 4 and 11 months.
twins, was it hard work?are they identical?
my older 2 girls can be really stroppy, are they grown out of that stage by the time they are 16, or does it go beyond that?

Tortington · 30/01/2006 17:05

god i hope so but i doubt it - my 16 year old is a lad. my 12 yr old girl is going on 19. my eldest ds is a good lad now - but was a shit from age 14. theres a light at the end of the tunnel - but just as i see it the twins turn into teenagers eek

chocolatemummy · 30/01/2006 17:51

re meeting feb 24th,this will be a meeting with kids, but a piss up can be arranged if required... maybe someone else would like to arrange that one?

hi custardo - can you tell us more about the Brighton meet-ups? Are they regular? Where are you meeting in April? I'm in Brighton quite a lot - more life than in Worthing! (sorry - present company obviously excepted!)

chocolatemummy · 02/02/2006 17:24

yes, Worthing is a little on the boring side, I used to live in Brighton and its hard to match that sort of entertaiment choice and atmosphere, however now I have a child I am glad I don;t live ther because whenever I go to see mates i can never park, there is rubbish everywhere, beggars on the streets all over the place and town is so packed you just get carried along with the flow of people like being in one big Ikeas. BUT, Worthing has so many elderly and the clubs and most bars are shite to say the least.
Atleast you can afford a proper house and garden and parking if you come over this way though.
I hope people can come to the 24th meeting, Emilie-
I will be there even if its just you and me because if we keep putting it off for everyone to be able to make it we'll never do it.

Had a good girls meal out with friends at China Palace in worthing the other week, also Barneys is nice for a drink or the Burlington? maybe mums could do that one evening?

Straightforward · 03/02/2006 10:29

I'll be there. Guess we should work out how to recognise each other.

janeyhills · 03/02/2006 13:30

hi emelie, where in littlehampton are your family moving to?i'm in east preston so not far away at all.

farmerted · 04/02/2006 10:36

Hello everyone, sorry but I disappeared from this thread, glad to see its still going. I took on too much work and have been regretting it! Trying to fit in working at home on the computer with a little one hanging from your arm (even though daddy is meant to be looking after her) is pretty tricky! Have ended up working till 3am just to get some peace!

Anyway, I'm a working mum of 1 DD edith who is 18 months this week, unfortuantely she goes to the childminder on Wednesdays and Fridays so a Friday meet up would be tricky at the moment. Maybe some of us who are local to Lancing, Worthing, Shoreham could get together for a coffee/toddler group, is anyone free on a Tuesday or Thursday? I would also be up for a drink........have yet to explore the nightlife of Worthing(!!!) I moved to Lancing last year - I have been in London most of my life and it is a bit of a culture shock, have only got to know my neighbours so far - one of them is 100 and another turned 80 last week! Have you managed to arrange a Brighton meet up Custardo?

Hope to hear from someone! Elaine

Tortington · 04/02/2006 14:29

the brighton lot are going out soon next friday i think - to get pissed, i wont be able to make that one unfortunatley but you would all be made welcome - please see the brighton " mother funkers" thread in meet ups

janeyhills · 04/02/2006 14:40

hi elaine(farmerted),
i'm in east preston , i'd meet up with you one morning for a coffee.

Tortington · 04/02/2006 14:48

brighton meet up next week get your dancing shoes on

Tortington · 04/02/2006 14:50

if a couple of you are going from worthing / east preston way - then we could share a taxi home. or at least i would have someone to walk to the train with.

i dont want to walk to station on my own. hove station is the nearest to where the meet is. in the Old Market. in brunswick
