West Sussex mummies ?

chocolatemummy · 31/10/2005 11:17

Anyone in the Lancing, Shoreham, Worthing area?
I am a 30 year old working mum.Moved to Sussex in 2000 to go to uni, most people I met moved back home afterwards but I met someone and got married.I have a daughter almost two and some good friends but no one with children and you all know it changes everything. Time, money and energy to go out is hugely decreased and even if you don't want to talk babies, schools, nurseries etc its your life now and childless single friends are on a different planet-or should I say we are!
Anyone near me who is on my wavelength?
please get in touch.

Novembergirl,
thats okay I thought something must be going on.
I am going swimming anyway with the girl I usually go with so don't worry about not being able to make it. I am sure you can meet up with us another friday. I hope you all feel better soon.

Chocolatemummy, it would be lovely to meet you and friends for a meal/drink tomorrow but i have probably left it too late.

If you do get this then let me know if its still on! Cheers

chocolatemummy · 10/04/2006 18:35

we really are struggling in here aren't we.
I am close to giving up the ghost now folks. Its a shame because the three mums I have met have been really nice.
Sorry farmerted I didn't get your message in time for friday night. we had a nice evening in the end, we went to Brighton Marina and watched a film at the cinema and then went for a few drinks at Jacksons wharf afterwards beauty of extended drinking hours!

anyway, hope to see some life in here soon

hi everyone,
how are you all,ds ear is a bit better, the infections gone but they say he might have a perforated ear drum!he seems ok he's just got a lot of gunk leaking out.
whats everyone been up to?

Novembergirl · 12/04/2006 15:21

Just wanted to apologise (especially to Chocolatemummy, who is trying so hard to keep this thread alive).

I really wish that I could be a more active participant and meet up with other mums but working full-time and commuting up to London 4 days a week means that I have very limited availability. Also, everytime I make plans either DS or I seem to be ill.

I have tried to meet other local mummies on numerous occassions, but usually their diaries are too full and mine too inflexible, to find a convenient time to meet. I did manage to meet Chocolatemummy and Straightforward though, which was great.

So, I do hope that other West Sussex mummies help Chocolatemummy to keep this thread going and arrange meet-ups and I will try to join you whenever I can.

chocolatemummy · 12/04/2006 17:46

ahh Novembergirl, thanks. I know most of us want to keep this going and I guess we dont have to meet up, we can still chat and support eachother on here. We all have babies and toddlers and they are very unpredictable and wehn you work aswell its virtually impossible to have time for socialising aswell....I know that!
Janeyhills, glad to hear ears are a bit better, but the purforated ear drum sounds a bit nasty.
I have been busy at work and feeling a bit guilty about not doing much with Estelle but I guess thats life.
Loads of people and kids seem to be ill at the moment, its been far too cold for this time of year!

hi all can i join your thread i am in crawley and have 2 boys 2 and 4.

Novembergirl · 16/04/2006 17:20

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend. Fingers' crossed we'll see some sun tomorrow!

Can't wait for the really good weather as I am looking forward to taking some nice walks on a Friday with DS. If anyone else would like to meet up, when Spring finally arrives, for some pushchair friendly walks (e.g. the beach, the Downs and/or local woods) followed, if possible, by a well-earned coffee and cake for the mummies, do let me know.

janeyhills · 19/04/2006 08:55

hi everyone,
i'd love to meet up for walks etc...
i will be more flexible when ds starts school in september , i'm just waiting now to see if he has got into the school i want him to go to.
anybody know anything about perforated ear drums?

chocolatemummy · 19/04/2006 17:49

Hi Novembergirl
I think some picnincs on the beach and are definately in order. It is so nie the last week or so being able to let Estelle into the garden again. I had a lovely bank holiday weekend actually very busy with family and friends

Hope you are all well,
jaeyhills, sorry dont know much about the ear drum thing but sure you can find as much info as possible here on the net.

Blanche

Hi all

Just to let you know I'm still around but things have been manic of late!

Still here in spirit anyway, even if I've been unable to make any of the meets. Have to say that it's probably easier for me and DD when there are children of her age there too, otherwise she hates me having any kind of conversation with anyone! Though beachy things would be good, as it doesn't matter so much then in her world! Does that make sense? Pregnancy brain taking over...

chocolatemummy · 21/04/2006 16:45

oh my god, I just noticed how bad my last message was, sorry guys i can spell, I should so as its something I teach!
anyway, yes maybe summer beach picnics and parks will be easier for all of us, lets hope so....

would love to meet up at the park etc...

Novembergirl · 27/04/2006 13:37

Hello ladies, are there any meet-ups being planned? If not, perhaps we should tempt fate (or to be precise the weather) and arrange an open-air meet-up for next month! Any ideas?

janeyhills · 28/04/2006 09:09

fattiemumma · 29/04/2006 23:00

MABS · 30/04/2006 16:01

28 May there is a Brighton lunch meetup without kiddies. Anyone fancy it?

janeyhills · 08/05/2006 14:01

hi,
how has every one been?

Novembergirl · 09/05/2006 22:35

Hi Janey

...it is definitely very quiet in here!

Hope your son is better now. If so, shall we try again and see if we can arrange another meet-up? Not sure I will be able to go as I work so much of the time but happy to keep bumping the thread to find the other West Sussex mummies.

I recall that you suggested meeting at Mewsbrook Park...I'm afraid that I don't know Littlehampton very well so could you tell us about the park and suggest a few times for a meet-up.

chocolatemummy · 10/05/2006 13:47

hello JANEYHILLS AND NOVEMBERGIRL
Seems there are just us three left at the moment,
sure new mums will join eventually.
had a car accident so not very mobile at the moment becaue I injured my back and neck, and don't have a car anyway now! but will do hopefully soon so if you fancy meeting up at a park or play area in next few weeks let me know x

Novembergirl · 11/05/2006 22:17

Chocolatemummy,

Poor you...I'm so very sorry to hear about your car accident. I do hope you are on the mend very soon and your DD was not injured.

Let's arrange another meet up in early June when you are, hopefully, feeling better and are back on the road.

Firewalker · 12/05/2006 15:10

Hi Steph

I live in Purley, Surrey now. It takes us about 35 minutes to drive to my parents (they live in Worth).

Paula xx

chocolatemummy · 18/05/2006 17:43

Hi November girl, estelle wasn;t in the car thankfully. I am feeling much better this week, not sure about driving yet though, only when absolutely necessary as I have kind of lost my nerve.
A meet up in June would be nice. don't mind where although still think it would be nice to go swimming sometime, but any parks are good. take care of yourself and thanks for keeping the ball rolling
x
