I know we've tried to sort something before and we're all very anti-social but the summer hols are on their way, so how about trying to arrange a meet up for August sometime?

We could have a picnic in Oswestry or Telford park, if we want to do it on the cheap? Or maybe go further afield and spend the day at Chester Zoo or somewhere? Or even soft play? There's a nice new(ish) one in Os, or Wrexham have a big one as well.

Come onnnn! Humour me!

Yes please, count me in,Chester Zoo sounds fab,let me know when.

racmac · 13/07/2010 19:06

Telford park sounds good

pirateparty · 13/07/2010 21:31

I would be interested too, if that's ok.

LRB978 · 13/07/2010 21:36

A Telford lurker here, if the day/time is right, I'd be interested - have one ds (8), who is very easily pleased

MrsMeow · 14/07/2010 13:41

Pirateparty - of course!

Ooh lots of locals - how exciting! Maybe we could do a small meet first and see how it goes, then try and do it again towards the end of the hols?

I'll leave this for a few more days to see if anyone else fancies it, and then we can sort out a place to meet

You called? Chester Zoo be good for me. Or somewhere accessible on public transport as I can drive but I'm not v good outside my immediate 5m comfort zone

pranma · 14/07/2010 19:43

Found you!I could probably borrow a dgc and come along-Chester Zoo is always nice

SalopianGirl · 14/07/2010 21:44

I could be up for this,i'm around for most of the summer holidays.I'm in Market Drayton with a DD of 8.Chester zoo only about a 45 min drive for me!

serin · 14/07/2010 22:28

Registers interest!

Chester Zoo or Telford Park sound very nice!

Do you all know each other already?

MrsMeow · 15/07/2010 14:06

Hello everyone! There's a few of us around, isn't there?

There's a bit of interest for Chester Zoo, so I'm quite happy to go for that if everyone else wants to?

serin I only joined here a year ago, so haven't met anyone yet. Not sure about the others though

pirateparty · 15/07/2010 19:14

I don't know anyone. How old are other's dc? My ds is only 19 months, but would love anything that involved being outside.

PortBlacksand · 15/07/2010 20:07

Oooh me me! Never met any fellow Salopian MNers.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 15/07/2010 20:28

hello, hello, hello!!! meet up sounds fab. i am in telford but dont drive so would struggle for chester zoo

PortBlacksand · 15/07/2010 20:55

Another vote for TTP here too....

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 15/07/2010 21:05

we could try something in shrewsbury, go to the quarry or something, might be a bit more central.

LRB978 · 15/07/2010 22:19

Ladyofthegreenkirtle (or anyone else from Telford), I drive, have car and only me and ds, so I have 3 seats free if a lift is needed (and you can cope with my love of cheesy music )

Never met anyone, although been lurking for at least a couple of years now. Am happy to meet where-ever, as long as I am not working and I know in advance so I can budget for it (money tends to disappear else ).

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 15/07/2010 22:20

aw, thank you! its just ds and i (and we both lurve cheesy toons)

pirateparty · 15/07/2010 22:37

The quarry in Shrewsbury is a good idea - not too hard to park, close to bus/station, nice playground, and lots of space for picnic.

Ditto Attingham - does a lovely cream tea , but again lots of space, good playground (even for older ones I think).

But would be happy with any of the suggestions.

LRB978 · 15/07/2010 22:38

If we're going, the seats are there - kinda hard to leave half the car at home. (I must admit to cheesy meaning cheesy. Up to and including Black Lace )

PortBlacksand · 15/07/2010 22:52

Picnic at the Quarry sounds nice. LR - perhaps you could bring a portable MP3 player and we can all 'superman' together to break the ice

MrsMeow · 16/07/2010 13:08

I've never been to The Quarry - have just tried to do a route planner on the AA site, but it doesn't recognise it?!

I know how to get to the Oxon park and ride (near Shelton hospital) is it anywhere near there?

I'll be coming from the opposite direction to the rest of you, I think, but if anyone is coming from Os way and wants a lift, I have 2 seats spare

OP posts:
PortBlacksand · 16/07/2010 14:02

I'm near Wem.

The park and ride bus stops near the Quarry - it's in town (it's the town park) near the round church (St Chads) - big patch of green just at the loopiest bit of the loop.

PortBlacksand · 16/07/2010 14:02

If there's more Welsh MNers we could always go up Oswestry Hillfort...

MrsMeow · 16/07/2010 14:30

Loopiest bit of the loop sounds good to me!!! And it's good to know that the P&R stops there - I find it easier than driving into Shrews.

I'm up for a trip to the hill fort too, I've never been, despite living just down the road!
