Hi all so after putting on 2stone in last 3 years am now in the overweight category with bmi over 28. Having found no motivation but getting more and more fed up with myself, I've taken the plunge after reading loads of reviews about exante have brought myself the 2 week box, its coming tomorrow so fingers crossed I can stick to it!
Anyone else starting it or currently doing it?
Posting here to hold myself accountable!

@EachandEveryone - I guess it depends how far out of date, but I would imagine as its dried / sealed it should be good for expiry + 6 months at least :)

Kittensgalore · 21/01/2021 19:31

@Brademajo thank you! You totally inspired me. Salted caramel is one of my favourites so thought they were all gone but dug around in the box and found a lonely one there. Had got the kids fancy ice cream as a treat for when we watch Death in Paradise later ( only thing we can agree that we all want to watch together). So now my salted caramel shake is in the freezer so I can join the kids with their ice cream treat.
@EachandEveryone I'm always using out of date products. I've stopped and started this so often that I always end up with left overs and it's always been fine.

Brademajo · 22/01/2021 09:33

@Kittensgalore - WHAT???? you can put it in the freezer???? Hang on a minute this could revolutionise my life!!! Is it like icecream (diet icecream) when frozen?

Kittensgalore · 22/01/2021 11:23

@Brademajo I hadn't tried feeding it before but it was absolutely amazing! I blitzed in the blender with some ice cubes, not too much water, so would have been a thick shake and then left in the freezer for nearly two hours I think. It was delicious. Will definitely do that again!

Kittensgalore · 22/01/2021 11:24

Freezing. Not Feeding- Got feeding on the brain!

LordOfTheOnionRings · 22/01/2021 11:46

Day three for me. It's going well! I'm feeling a lot less bloated already which is nice. They sent me some free bits along with my box as I ordered a month and there was a tropical juice satchet boost thing and shweet Jesus, actually drinking it was quite nice but the after taste nearly made me gag! How is everyone else doing?

The extreme 'oh my god I'm going to fart whilst giving this presentation' wind has gone now, relief!

LordOfTheOnionRings · 22/01/2021 11:51

I'm also really surprised how full I feel on exante with the whole change in diet. Im eating A LOT less than I was but I'm not feeling it yet, feeling full and hydrated.

Brademajo · 22/01/2021 15:59

@LordOfTheOnionRings Lol! I'm definitely glad the windy side effect has passed (excuse the pun) - that made me chortle :)
I havent felt hungry at all on exante - its all willpower - my body hasnt said its hungry to me at all and I think thats why I dont think I will have lost much weight (FYI I am going 3 x meal for 28 days straight - then weighing - i'm on day 20) Dont get me wrong Ive fancied stuff - like cheese and fishfinger sandwiches! but haven't actually been hungry hungry just mentally hungry
@Kittensgalore Salted Caramel blended and in the freezer!

LordOfTheOnionRings · 22/01/2021 16:04

@Brademajo amazing. If you haven't weighed yet can you see a difference? X

GothamGirl1970 · 22/01/2021 16:19

I’m still windy Confused

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 22/01/2021 19:39

Up and down this week! (The perils of weighing daily!) up a quarter, down a half, down another quarter up a half. But I am on the third week and that can always be slow. Sticking with though as I have had great results so far. Started on 4 Jan, so in 18 days have lost 1lb shy of a stone! Pleased with that. Yes I’d love to lose a pound a day, but it won’t happen at my age (almost 54) and I have been on a LOT of diets, screwing my metabolism! But if I had not started on 4th, I would still have that stone to lose. Pizza for tea this Eve, 220 calories! A packet of that wafer ham is 120 cal so DH and I shared it and put it on lo dough pizza bases with some thinly sliced babybel light and a cheese string!

LordOfTheOnionRings · 22/01/2021 21:03

@GothamGirl1970 oh no 😂 how long have you been doing it for?

par05 · 22/01/2021 21:34

Same here @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn been up and down lost 3lbs but haven't done it properly last 2 days, was good at beginning of week not so good now!

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 22/01/2021 22:01

Keep with it Par05. Have you got a stone ‘barrier’to aim for? At the the moment I’m 9lbs before the next breakthrough; I certainly don’t want to go back up!

Weston14 · 22/01/2021 22:17

Evening all, sorry not been active here today! I’ve maintained for 2 days now, I guess it was always going to come eventually so going to start weighing in on Monday mornings to avoid disappointment. Done 3 packs, 2 litres of water and then had a few sneaky little slices of chicken from family dinner. Knowing my luck I’ll weigh in on Monday having eaten that bit of chicken and be back up a stone 🙄😂

Weston14 · 22/01/2021 22:17

4 litres of water not 2 😄

Kittensgalore · 23/01/2021 08:27

Morning all! Here is to a good weekend! Keep going everyone. Don't worry if the scales aren't moving. It's a good idea to measure too, often if the scales haven't moved your measurements will have. Although this time I'm not doing either. I'm just placing my trust in the fact that this will work if I can just stick with it. I've been a lurker on the Exante Facebook page for a long time now and the before and after pics that folk post are truly incredible.

@GarytheRedNosedUnicorn inspired by your wrap photo I ordered the lo dough bases, arrived yesterday and I have to say I think they are a bit of a game changer, had a huge wrap with lettuce, egg and low fat feta. Absolutely delicious. Totally copying you and going to have pizza tonight!.

Can anyone recommend best app for recording calories and carbs? I need to get better at weighing and recording everything.

Yoshinori · 23/01/2021 08:28

@Kittykat93

Nobody can lose 2 pounds a day. Most of the weight loss will be water weight that will come back once you start eating actual food again but people like to think they can lose that much a day of “fat”.

VCLD work for many people but even on this thread it’s clear to see that the main issue is that people gain the weight back and then return back to VCLD and then gain it back. You’re not really learning how to eat and sustain a desirable weight. But that’s just my two cents.

I don’t think you were rude at all.

par05 · 23/01/2021 11:06

@Yoshinori we do know it is water weight for the first week, and it does motivate me knowing numbers on scale are going down, especially first week. I have managed to keep weight off since I started exante in October, yes if I overeat and do nothing I will put weight back on. But so far it is still working for me, I decided to do exante after a lot of research and some people do put the weight back on, but a lot have managed to keep it off. Nothing was working for me and this has kick started my metabolism.

Weston14 · 23/01/2021 12:43

@Yoshinori I don't think anyone is suggesting it's anything but water weight coming off at first, but I'm nearing the end of my second week now and I've lost about 15/16lbs (has been fluctuating day to day for a few days). Some of that, however, will genuinely be fat and its the first step in a quick kick "kick up the bum" previously discussed which I hopefully will maintain going forward. Yes i will put a bit back on in water after I lose it I'm sure but I can live with that, and just need to be careful refeeding. Lots and lots of people have lost weight on a VLCD and maintained. Sick of concern trolls trying to pooh-pooh an NHS-backed lifestyle.

Brademajo · 23/01/2021 12:49

@Weston14 Totally agree - don't need anyones twopenneth thanks - this topic isnt up for debate as to whether VLCD are healthy not healthy etc. I appreciate all the posts from folks on the diet and how its working for them and really appreciate the tips. I have some white chocolate shake icecream in the freezer for later - gamechanger to a Hagen Daz addict - fabulous!
I also appreciate the lovely low calorie meals so please keep them coming!

Kittensgalore · 23/01/2021 13:49

This thread is not in AIBU or even chat. So @Yoshinori & @Kittykat93 judgemental & patronising posts are rude as well as ill informed.

Have to say I was feeling super positive this morning but the troll posts then got me reflecting on the last year. I was on one of these threads a year ago and did lose a couple of stone, felt great for it. I then had the worst six months I've had in over two decades. And subsequently drank way too much wine. And yes the weight did come back on. But almost certainly in my case due to the empty calories in the countless glasses of wine I inhaled in a bid to block out the nightmare I was living through rather than because I don't know how to eat healthily.

I'm in a much happier and more permanent place in my life again, practically and emotionally and I'm ready to crack it. I'm nearly two weeks alcohol free which given Prosecco was my crutch during a really shit time, I'm super proud off. I don't need anyone judging me or predicting failure, None of us do.

Any further trolling I will studiously ignore. Have far better things to ponder. Such as whether I should have 2 or 4 anchovies on my seafood pizza for tea.

Kittensgalore · 23/01/2021 15:00

@Brademajo omg white choc shake ice cream sounds blissful. I've not tried the white choc shake but I love white chocolate so reckon they will be a hit.
Going to have to put them in my basket for the next order. It's a shame you can't do Uber eats for exante 😆

par05 · 23/01/2021 17:17

Glad you are in a good place @kittensgalore this last year and still continuing has not been a good year for a lots of people, so well done to you for getting the oomph back and restarting, you will do fab.
