Hi all so after putting on 2stone in last 3 years am now in the overweight category with bmi over 28. Having found no motivation but getting more and more fed up with myself, I've taken the plunge after reading loads of reviews about exante have brought myself the 2 week box, its coming tomorrow so fingers crossed I can stick to it!
Anyone else starting it or currently doing it?
Posting here to hold myself accountable!

Well done @par05 and @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn for your losses great work there!

@Fressia123 they don’t recommend you do too much strenuous exercise so you might find running takes it out of you a bit .. that said I am walking 3 miles a day at least (and power walking so I do break a bit of a sweat) but I find I am absolutely knackered when I get back home so It’s definitely more of a strain. I’m hoping a bit further down the line to incorporate some running in. Yoga I’ve never really done so not sure but from my understanding it’s not as cardio based so you might be ok? Though I’m not an expert someone will know better than me

Brademajo · 18/01/2021 13:08

Hi @Fressia123 - I am absolutely no expert but I would suggest to listen to your body. I know I'm not exercising enough so need to up my game but I would stop if at any point I started feeling faint. You clearly do exercise - 20 miles per week?! wow! I just suggest just trying it and see how you go? [again no expert!}

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 18/01/2021 14:59

I really miss swimming. I am disabled and walk with a stick, due to problems with my foot and ankle, so can’t do most regular exercises but used to swim 2-3 miles a week. I haven’t been since last March, obviously. Cant wait till all the pools can open!

Weston14 · 18/01/2021 16:45

Lunch today had a homemade chicken and vegetable soup instead of a shake, literally only chicken and vegetables so no carbs or added sugar, probably only 200 calories a bowl maybe even less. Will likely skip having another shake tonight just to be on the safe side as don’t fancy going over the 600 carb threshold. That said i’ve done 13k steps today so def burnt some off!!

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 18/01/2021 19:54

Weston14 Your chicken soup sounds yummy! I had my pizza tonight, using lo dough pizza base (39 cal) shredded beef (75 cal) finely sliced onion, teaspoon Tom purée, a babybel light (45 cal), finely sliced, and a cheese string, torn up (50 cal) so it came in around 200 cal. The shredded beef is lovely, from the Co Op, it’s the trimmings from where they cut the beef into uniform shape slices. You get a lot for 75 Cals! I then sprinkled it with garlic and herbs. Felt like a treat!

How do you find the Lo Dough @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn ? must give it a try some time

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 18/01/2021 20:55

I liked it, so did DH. They say you can use it as a wrap, I’m doing that tomorrow with egg and crab sticks! It’s good to have a different texture to eat.

par05 · 18/01/2021 22:28

Another fab meal @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn! I've had peppers cottage cheese and fridge raiders,as my meal just trying keep low carb more and stay within calories.
@Weston14 I did the 800 cal exante so 3 shakes/bars and one meal. When I first started exante. Are you doing the 600 cal one?

OP posts:
Weston14 · 18/01/2021 23:04

I'm doing the 600 calorie one @par05 which strictly speaking i don't think you're meant to do anymore but I just want all the weight off really! Yesterday I swapped one shake for a 2 egg plain omelette (148 calories, no carbs) and today I swapped 2 shakes for a chicken and veg soup (no idea on calories but certainly not 400.) I know it's not sticking to the plan in the broadest sense of the word but all the meals are very light and shouldn't kick me out of ketosis so if I just can't stomach another sweet shake I know I can have something savoury/solid/filling and not feel guilty.

par05 · 18/01/2021 23:22

Well done to you @Weston14, I think you will stay in keto as your meals are very low carb, and I think what exante does is recondition you, as I'm not hundred percent sticking to it this time, but found it easy to go back to low carb with one shake or protein bar.

par05 · 18/01/2021 23:46

Also it took me 2 years to get the motivation, would lose 7lbs then put it back on plus more!

Brademajo · 19/01/2021 08:49

Hi @weston14 and @par05 how do you know if you are in keto? have you got test strips or is there a physical change (in the loo department?) that you can tell? Like I said I have stuck rigidly to 3 meals/day (probably not enough water) / haven't (scared) to weigh / dont feel different / dont feel hungry at all (now) / slightly bloated
keto is burning fat yes?

Kittensgalore · 19/01/2021 09:39

Hello can I join you lovely lot? I've done Exante before, was on one of these threads this time last year! Dropped a couple of dress sizes and felt much better for a few months then had a super stressful Few months and piled it back on. I'm now in a much better place and ready to smash it this time and then maintain - hardest part for me I think. Have a milestone birthday coming up and am determined to be a slimmer, fitter me by then.
I started last week, so about 8 days in. Last week was horrendous. Feel better this week and a bit more in the zone. Doing 2-3 packs a day and a 200-400 cal meal depending on how many packs I've had. Trying not to eat until 12-1pm and then stopping before 7pm. Drinking as much water as I can. I use the water enhancers flavours which I find really help me. Also trying the slender sips this time round which I've not used before.
Hope it's ok to join- hope everyone has a good day.

Kittensgalore · 19/01/2021 09:44

@Brademajo Sounds like you are in ketosis if you aren't feeling hungry. I find it takes me 3-4 days. Usually get an awful headache around that time which goes once in ketosis. I did buy some strips that you wee on and colour changes depending on whether you are in it or not but to be honest I wouldn't bother again.

par05 · 19/01/2021 09:51

@Brademajo I think you probably are in keto, you can get pee sticks on ebay to check, but with me it was after a few days of feeling a bit fatigued and headaches, felt a lot better more energy and did not feel hungry at all, was in fat burning zone, the week is water weight but it def motivated me to continue.
Welcome @kittensgalore the more the merrier! Good support group here made me motivated to start again. 😊

OP posts:
Weston14 · 19/01/2021 09:59

I've not done the strips @Brademajo and i've heard they're not very effective with exante because the amount of water you drink means the results are often inconclusive? or something. but I had the headache and dehydration, really bad taste in the mouth, and I'm certainly less hungry. I think you really should weigh yourself sooner rather than later, you probably will have surprised yourself with how much you've lost and if (and this is very unlikely) there is something going wrong with how you're doing it and you've not lost as much as you ought to, you can identify what's going wrong now rather than carry on doing it for weeks and weeks and find there was something you were missing Smile

Welcome @Kittensgalore me and you are about the same way through, today is my 9th day (started last Monday). I'm another -1lb down today so all I need to lose is 0.7lb and I will have hit that stone mark Grin

Kittensgalore · 19/01/2021 10:01

Thank you @par05, a good support group is definitely going to help keep me on track I think! Another way I can tell I'm definitely in keto @Brademajo is that I'm freezing cold all the time!. Just boiling the kettle to fill up the hot water bottle as I type!

Kittensgalore · 19/01/2021 10:07

Omg @Weston14 - a stone! That's amazing. Well done! Are you feeling better for it? I've decided not to weigh. So not sure how much I'm down but I do feel better, less bloated and the ring I always wear is slightly looser. Have literally bags full of clothes in various sizes to get back into it. Am currently a 16/18. Though feeling more towards 16 than 18 already. Really want to get to 10/12.

Weston14 · 19/01/2021 10:35

@Kittensgalore definitely feel a lot "tighter", not as flabby , clothes fit a bit better etc. I have a gorgeous pair of quite expensive jeans I've not been able to wear for a good few months (well I can - just they're very tight!) and I'm not quite there yet with them so still some way to go. I have quite a slim torso but broad hips and chunky legs so finding trousers has always been a nightmare for me, I suspect that losing weight off my waist, hips and legs will be one of the last things to go just because of my build.

Brademajo · 19/01/2021 11:34

@Weston14 - You have done super well! I am jealous! My weight is tummy and backside. I have a total mental block on weighing (stupid and unwarranted Im sure) - at the moment I have VERY strong resolve so I will wait until day 28. My fitbit says Im averaging 2200 a day, and over the next 2 weeks Im going to step up the steps (as I have been furloughed from work so now or never!) My intake is 3 meals so as they vary a little - it isnt more than 650 calories (plus tea) I've also increased water since the pep talk :)
Thanks everyone for the feedback regarding Ketosis - as I am no longer hungry then I imagine I am - I havent suffered headaches but I still drink tea - I haven't cut down on caffeine intake.
@Kittensgalore - I always have cold feet! so can't tell if colder than normal

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 19/01/2021 15:04

1/2 a pound down today. It’s going in the right direction. I didn’t put the weight on overnight, so won’t lose it in 6 weeks. Keep going everybody. I’m going to have a tuna and salad wrap tonight using one of those pizza bases. I have the ‘juiced’ product for lunch. I quite like it. It’s very refreshing. Down 12lbs so far. Just been cleaning the kitchen and there was a bag of potatoes in the vegetable rack. 5kg. Just try and carry that for half an hour! Even lugging it up a flight of stairs is an effort! Go and find something that weighs the same as you lost - and be thankful you can put it down!

par05 · 19/01/2021 15:17

@Weston14 you gave done amazing! And @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn 12lbs is fab.
My weight is around the tummy, and def feels flatter. Would love to get down to a size 12 too. Trying to up steps aswell, but had some indian sweets today only one though, normally would have about 3. But carrying on now. My calories average about 800 a day at the min. When I'm in keto I feel much less hungry and then tend to eat a lot less.

@par05 good to hear the effects are paying off! I don't feel hungry as much but find I am still craving salty/carby foods, and randomly too - today I really feel like. a fish finger sandwich on thick white bread with loads of tartar sauce!! Sorry i know i shouldn't be distracting everyone with my cravings but just can't get carbs out of my head Confused

Brademajo · 19/01/2021 18:01

@par05 Lol! ooo fish finger sandwich!
I re-read my post - i am burning 2200 calories and averaging 11,000 steps - well that was last weeks stats.

Please keep posts coming - im so happy to have you guys!

Weston14 · 19/01/2021 18:47

@Brademajo it's great to have you on board Grin must admit i am not a habitual mumsnetter but having everyone here to speak to and spur each other on has been such a great help, feels like I'm not going through it alone. I feel like I know you all!!

I must recommend that everyone downloads an app called Happy Scale. It plots your losses on a graph and averages it out to give you a realistic prediction of the timescale of your losses. Mine is a bit drastic atm purely because i've lost so much in the first week but come week 3 and 4 it'll average out and hopefully give me an accurate reflection of what is in store Smile
