Hi all so after putting on 2stone in last 3 years am now in the overweight category with bmi over 28. Having found no motivation but getting more and more fed up with myself, I've taken the plunge after reading loads of reviews about exante have brought myself the 2 week box, its coming tomorrow so fingers crossed I can stick to it!
Anyone else starting it or currently doing it?
Posting here to hold myself accountable!

I do the same with the soups @Weston14 mix as much as possible then sieve them through, as same as you found them very lumpy and couldn't drink them.

Have stayed in track today and drank loads of water so all good today had vanilla hot shake just now and will drink some more water before going to bed, or might have a glass of pepsi max.

If you fancy a tasty snack, get a couple of flat mushrooms and spray a couple of times with frylight, season, sprinkle with some dried chives, powdered garlic, and a splash of lemon juice and whatever you like chillies etc.and bake at gas 7 for 20-25 mins. Tastes really 8ndulgent, but in reality about 30 calories. Lots of lovely juice and is really tasty with a salad.

I put on a pound overnight, but that could be anything, so not letting it put me off! The price to pay for weighing every day! Still lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. Hope everybody else is still feeling motivated!

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 16/01/2021 23:42

@Weston14

Speaking of which, does anyone have any recommendations for if any of the meals are any good ? the pastas and the daal pots etc... I might try some just breaks up the routine from sweet stuff all the time
I love the dhal pots!
par05 · 17/01/2021 08:04

@GarytheRedNosedUnicorn love the mushrooms idea will try that. Well done in losing 10lbs that's fab, wouldn't worry about the pound its prob gone today, I'm the same tend to weigh everyday. Did find the 2nd / 3rd week weight loss slowed down.

Morning everyone, only 3/4 of a lb down overnight I’m wondering if my losses are starting to slow down a bit now. Still feel fairly bunged up so I think that might have something to do with it. Hoping it starts shifting again soon!

par05 · 17/01/2021 19:13

Well done @Weston14 day 2 done did have 2 pieces of galaxy 🙈 but other than that on target, lost 2lbs this morning, but know it does slow down, on my first week before I lost 7lbs then only 2lbs week after i think but eventually lost 16lbs in total. So keep at it have just ordered a few more shakes as it Halfprice on shakes at the mo with exante.

Glad you’re getting there @par05 I also had a very minor cheat tonight, couldn’t stomach another shake so did myself a plain two egg omelette with a bit of hot sauce on top, literally was just two eggs mixed with a splash of water so only about 180 calories and trace carbs in the damn thing anyway. I promised myself I wasn’t going to eat anything solid until I was a stone down but it was very basic and plain, plus hoping a bit of solid food (and chilli sauce!!) going through my bowel will help get things started.

Sorry i always have to lower the tone on this thread don’t i 🤣

Brademajo · 17/01/2021 20:38

Hi all - I'm new to Mumsnet and this is my first post! I've been following the exante diet - 3 meals - not cheated once - for 2 weeks now. Ive been mixing between a shake or bar in the morning (salted caramel bar is really nice in my opinion), alternative shake or bar for lunch and then carbonara in evening (yes I actually like it!) I have a slightly different problem to most people - I am terrified to weigh! If I havent lost weight I will be so terribly dissappointed in that I REALLY havent cheated. It was very hard at the start especially with christmas leftovers knocking around but now Im fully in the swing but I'm doing my own head in - Ive decided to wait until day 28 (2 weeks time) and then weigh. I dont feel like Ive lost weight and feel a little bloated most of the time - does anyone else feel like this? Ive done diet after diet - cheated and failed - but this time I havent cheated and I will be devastated if I havent lost a decent amount of weight :(

Weston14 · 17/01/2021 20:56

Welcome @Brademajo , sorry to hear about the bloating. I think in terms of how much you actually lose it all depends on you as a person, how much you had to lose at the start, what your metabolism is like etc. I don’t think I was enormous to start with, just noticeably a bit chunkier, so I can definitely feel the benefit more.. but without being insensitive, if you are on the larger side maybe it isn’t as immediate obvious?

I think going forward it may be a good idea to commit to one day a week to weigh in, at least that way you’re not completely in the dark.. are you also making sure you’re drinking enough water? I’m on 4l a day typically but still finding im sometimes dehydrated so today for instance I’ve done 5l.

Could you find the time to move around a bit more? Obviously strenuous exercise is a bit much on a vlcd but I started trying to get in about 7,000 steps from Thursday onwards and I’ve found its helped my results (barring today which I think was a bit of a fluke,)

I am delighted with my losses so far but im not an exante cheerleader by any means and fully recognise that the diet seems to play utter havoc with a lot of people’s digestion and “toilet regularity”. If you’re not going enough this might be the cause for the bloating and potentialy worth looking into some laxatives or psyllium husks or something.

Well done anyway for committing to the diet, it’s not easy and there is a lovely little community on here all spurring each other on.. I’m sure when you come to weigh yourself you’ll have lost more than you might think Flowers

Brademajo · 17/01/2021 21:03

Thankyou @weston14! youve just inspired me to go an drink a glass of water! I dont think im dehydrated (wee is normal!?) but i definitely dont drink enough water. I will focus on that over the next week or so to have a glass every so often - thanks for the tip and the boost :) I dont exercise enough thats for sure but will give it 200% over the next 2 weeks.
Thankyou for the pep talk - youve already made me feel more positive :)

par05 · 17/01/2021 22:03

As @Weston14 said welcome @Brademajo and well done for sticking to it! Also 2nd Weston post are you drinking enough? And maybe weigh yourself once a week, def gives tummy trouble I had bloating , but that will pass, hopefully @weston14.
Same here was happy with my losses as nothing else seemed to work and I had tried everything! My motivation was non existent too, but this worked. Am also trying to do over 10000 steps easily done when at work, but in weekends and says off much harder.
I found this thread has helped me as I've put it out there so to speak and, everyone is so supportive and all in the same boat.

OP posts:
Brademajo · 17/01/2021 22:23

@par05 Thanks for support! I walk >10,000 steps most days as dogs need the exercise (and I do!) but I think I need to bump it up so will do a bit of a jog/shuffle and walk to get the heart going when i take them out.
Water is probably going to boost my weight loss so will drink more. I will keep posting - thanks again for the support :) It helps to hear everyones thoughts and feelings :)

Hi Brademajo! Welcome to the thread. You have more willpower than me, I weigh every day.I have stalled in losses, but I’m plodding on. I have also been going for two weeks. The only cheat I have had is a pack of that ready cooked bacon from Marks, but it was 250 Cals, so I just missed a shake. So a tiny cheat. Luckily my husband is on the plan too, as he wants to lose 2-3 stone. For my lo cal meal tonight we had baked cod, roasted courgettes and mushrooms and cauliflower rice! I spread a teaspoon of tomato purée on the cod, and sprinkled with lemon juice, garlic and herbs.huge plateful for under 200 cal. So probably won’t lose tomorrow as the food was’heavy’ but it was healthy! Keep going everybody. This is the perfect opportunity to diet. No celebrations or meals out to negotiate; and people will really notice if they haven’t seen you for a while. Good Luck!

Keep your meals coming @GarytheRedNosedUnicorn they look fab!

OP posts:
Brademajo · 18/01/2021 09:38

@GarytheRedNosedUnicorn
That meal looks delicious - very healthy! Im going to stick completely to my 3 exante 'meals' for the whole 28 days as my will power is super strong (this time!) I need/want to lose 2 - 2.5 stone. How much do you want to lose and how much have you lost already over 2 weeks? :)

ScrumpleApples · 18/01/2021 09:50

Hello - just wanted to pop in and say that I have been low carbing for a week - want to lose a stone - and I use Exante shakes in the evening when I'm craving something sweet. The salted caramel shake really hits the spot for that evening crave. Probably not exactly what they are intended for but they stop me reaching for the biscuit tin and I guess they have more vitamins than biscuits!

Weston14 · 18/01/2021 10:14

Glad you’re feeling a bit better about it all @Brademajo i must admit I was quite disappointed with my result yesterday and had a bit of a stop (to myself! not anyone else 🤣) but then looked at the bigger picture and realised we’re not going to be going anywhere for a while yet so I might as well just knuckle down and take the rough with the smooth.

@GarytheRedNosedUnicorn food looks fab as always I love courgettes like that 🤤

@ScrumpleApples good to hear you’re enjoying them. I think that’s one of the benefits of the diet it’s so easy to adapt your own way and not as restrictive as saying “you MUST eat this” or going off a points system or whatever. Good luck with the rest of the loss im sure it’ll fly off!

I’m another 1lb down this morning 😁 losses def slowing a bit but i reckon I will have lost a stone in about 10 days which I’m really happy with, makes the rest of the diet a lot less insurmountable when I’m already about a half/a third of the way there (depending on how far I decide to go!!)

Weston14 · 18/01/2021 10:15

By lost a stone in 10 days, I mean come day 10 it’ll have taken me 10 days to lose a stone (and I’m currently on day 8.) Not that it’s going to take another 10 days just to drop these last 2lbs. Sorry not very clear English!!

Brademajo · 18/01/2021 10:17

Hi @ScrumpleApples - Are you eating low carb meals and then substituting an evening meal with a sweet shake or is this on top (to stop snacking)?
and..
have you weighed yet?
thanks :)

ScrumpleApples · 18/01/2021 10:47

@Weston14 Thank you and good luck to you - looks like you're doing really well, keep it up!

@Brademajo I tend not to eat until mid afternoon. This sounds hard but actually I'm not hungry til then if I'm low carbing. Then my meals are obviously low carb- hard to say whether the exante shake is replacing a meal or not, because I'm eating little and often through afternoon/evening rather than big set meals. This is partly because of lockdown (unusual routine etc etc) and partly because I just listen to my body. I hope this makes sense.

No I haven't weighed yet - would be too depressed if it hasn't gone down! Prefer to go by whether I can do my jeans up more easily or not!

par05 · 18/01/2021 10:51

@weston14 you have done amazing! Another pound down so that's 3 lbs in 2 days, I think cause I'm a chocaholic exantes sweet flavours doesn't make it seem I'm missing out. Well done @ScrumpleApples sticking to low carb I think that's what I will do after too, as keep calories in check, find if I have the shakes hot it fills me up more. And awesome willpower @bradmejo keep it going!

Hey guys, I thought if just asking here... Would you recommend exante if I work out? I run at least 20mi per week and do 30 mins daily of barre/yoga. I want to drop around 2st (maybe 3?) I've always been heavy even when looking slim.

GarytheRedNosedUnicorn · 18/01/2021 12:03

Lost a quarter of a pound this morning. Of course I would have loved more, but at least it’s going the right way! Going to make pizza tonight with some of those lo dough bases. 39 calories each. Good Luck everybody!
