Week 4 (or 5!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all.

Spreadsheet, as ever

Although we're coming to the end of this particular Bootcamp, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added enough columns to the spreadsheet so that you can keep going, should you wish.

We'll also keep this thread going too, past the end of the week, for general low carb/Bootcamp chat and support - although I won't be starting a weigh-in thread each Monday after this one.

I know it's only been a short one this time, but looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like there have been some great results, even before today's weigh-in. Flowers

@Castlerigg

i started making rye sourdough but was making and eating too much of it. My starter has now been relegated to the fridge for a few weeks. And some slices are still in the freezer.

it was too much of a slippery carb slope. So I’ve weaned myself back off it

mrsannefourmile · 20/05/2025 08:39

I weighed myself this morning - exactly 16 1/2 stone. So it’s coming off , even if it’s slow

Bex5490 · 20/05/2025 19:55

Did someone mention a June boot camp? There’s a gym opening next to my house in June so this would be perfect for my August holiday! 🙏🏽

Bex5490 · 20/05/2025 19:56

And the AI thing is genius…I’m going to make a plan tonight!

lastchancesalmon · 20/05/2025 21:41

@mrsannefourmilewell done!

DrBlackbird · 20/05/2025 21:43

I keep falling off the low carb bandwagon. Argh. Will try again tomorrow to be strict!

Yes, I'm going to be running it from 1st June. There will be a sign up / prep thread next Monday.

mrsannefourmile · 21/05/2025 00:02

@venusandmarsthanks for advice. I have recently. Unless I’m cooking it for DS I usually can’t be bothered to steam veg as more washing up!

mrsannefourmile · 21/05/2025 00:03

@lastchancesalmon thank you x

mrsannefourmile · 21/05/2025 00:06

@DrBlackbird ahh and it never gets any easier getting back on! On the occasion I go out for a meal with friends and inevitably eat carbs .. I’m always so hungry and lethargic the next day

TheOnlyMrsW · 21/05/2025 13:46

Clambering very slowly back onto the wagon, my proposed reset didn't happen so here we are.......Reasonably good week so far, although I'd like it if the sun came back!
Planning lasagne for dinner with courgette layers instead of pasta so off to stalk the recipe threads, brunch was mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and chorizo fried in butter with poached eggs. Several very large cups of herbal tea in lieu of water and going to treat myself to a cup of coffee in a minute.
First festival of the summer next weekend and DD is coming back from uni on Monday so that will make planning slightly more difficult, although once she's back working it helps with alcohol consumption as she needs to be picked up from the bar when she's on shift 😊.
Hoping to shift at least a couple of pounds before next weekend, then continue downwards before Download mid-June - that will be a definite blip! Away to Ibiza and then Madrid early July so need to be able to fit into holiday-wear by then 🌞

Bex5490 · 21/05/2025 23:03

@venusandmars Thank you thank you thank you!!!

The perfect start date as it’s the last day of half term so less daily temptation.

Excited!

KOKO here and a total loss of 6lb in the first 2 weeks. I’ve dropped below 14st and BMi is also into the merely obese category (as opposed to severely obese) so I’m feeling like this is a good start. Have been eating ‘something and salad’ most days at school and some highlights of the evenings have included Chicken Caesar which I can’t get enough of, last nights smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and spinach and tonight I turned some leftover steak into a quick stroganoff with mushrooms & creme fraiche, served with ts broccoli and more spinach. My work leaving drinks tomorrow, so a few drinks will be consumed, but no other alcohol all week.

Had a lovely day out yesterday , but a bad day food wise ( coronation chicken sandwich + chocolate flapjack )
A spur of the moment decision to have a day at the coast
I need to do a bit of thinking into what would be good low carb picnic food and do some prep

The good news is , I bought a dress to wear at my nieces wedding , which is a little tight around the waist / tummy area

The wedding is mid August , so plenty of time

I will be glad when Bootcamp kicks off again in June
We only have 2 possible danger times , we have friends coming to dinner with us on Saturday, they are witnessing our POA first , then a catch up evening (we’ve known them since the school gates and DC are late 20s to 30s now )

Then we have a funeral in early June , much as I like to think I will waft around holding a sandwich , I’m sure that when I see the Welsh cakes and scones , cream and jam my resolve will go out the window
We will also have the DC staying with us for a few days , which makes more of a challenge

Meeting DSIS for a walk this morning , another day of getting lots of fresh air and steps

Shuffles off to drink some water …

NoCarbsForMe · 23/05/2025 12:15

Weight down 1.5lbs today on yesterday. Good job - as we are going away with friends who like their wine next week 😱
Have so far esten:
coffee w collagen FFC
Tuna salad with boiled eggs
need a dinner plan still..

venusandmars · 23/05/2025 17:24

@SemmaLina friends coming to you - you can be completely in control. Control of what you eat, control of portion size etc.

Go Italian. Some meats, cheeses, olives, artichokes, anchovies to start (they can have bread). Then aubergine parmigiana served with lemon chicken (others can have tagliatelle). Then a 'tiramasu' made with ffgy and cream.

A funeral is hard. But can you eat high protein beforehand: eggs, snack prawn cocktail, a few macademua nuts. All to ensure that you are not hungry. You can 'toast the health' of the person who had died, but no-one would want you to do that at the expense of your own health. So, yes to wandering around with an uneaten sandwich...

LostaraYil · 24/05/2025 07:11

Yay, looking forward to the start of a new bootcamp. Been on the wagon for a couple of weeks after a long time off and feeling so good I don't know why I ever go back to the bloated he'll of eating carbs. But I know the cravings will kick in along with PMS so the support of bootcamp will be needed.

SemmaLina · 24/05/2025 07:51

Thanks @venusandmars diner with friends is tonight , I’m not making a starter , main is chicken Marbella ( I know it has dates , but chicken thighs with skin are perfect ) I don’t really like potatoes , so not having any is normal for me and the veg I’m planning is a green veg ( kale , leeks , broccoli , fine beans ) stir fried in butter
chocolate mousse ( dark chocolate, knob of butter and eggs ) for dessert with raspberries and cream on the side , then cheese
I hadn’t thought of aubergine parmigiana , which is one of my favourite dishes, but I have the chicken thighs marinating now ( which is why I like chicken Marbella ,get it all sorted the day before and on the day just bung it in the oven )

lastchancesalmon · 26/05/2025 12:37

I’m down another lb this week for a total of 1/2 stone, which, as this is ‘infamous for stalling’ week 3, is rewarding. Had some wine this weekend, but on the wagon for the rest of the week, and looking forward to having a bootcamp crowd for June. I’m starting a new job on Monday 2nd, and commuting by train which is a big change, so there’ll be some new challenges to overcome but I’ve got this week to plan a bit. Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday!

prettybird · 26/05/2025 12:47

I’m feeling very Halo

As well as beginning to clamber back on the wagon (although struggling to get the requisite amount of water drunk Blush), today I started back on my exercise programme. It’s a c20 minutes online video of interval training (3xstrength strength, 2xcardio, repeated 4 times) and I did the optional extra 5 minute cardio “burnout” Halo

venusandmars · 26/05/2025 16:44

There's a new June bootcamp thread

Once June is over, we'll all be back here for ongoing chat, so if you're not joining the June bootcamp don't worry you'll not be left alone!

lastchancesalmon · 27/05/2025 15:35
